An alternative is to make reservations with a shuttle company in Springdale. They fill up fast and cost $35 pp, but is necessary if you have no other options. Since we did the top-bottom, we were plenty sore getting back up to Left Fork, which is about a 500 ft near vertical hike up from the canyon. Also, Verizon has 2 bars showing up here and you can make calls from Left Fork. There is also an outhouse and recycling section in the parking area.

This is a great place to hop off the shuttle, take in your surroundings, and then hop on the next…read moreshuttle. Bring your binoculars for this stop, as you can observe turkey vultures, and if you're lucky, condors soaring above. Peregrine Falcons are also common here. You can also use the binoculars to look at people crossing the the Spine on Angel's Landing. Yup, it's that narrow! There was a volunteer stationed here to point out birds and other features of the park, which was pretty nice. There are no washrooms, water, or other services at this stop.

Big Bend is the 8th stop at Zion and the second from last stop from the very end of the park…read more You should definitely stop here as it's so worth it. Far less popular from the well known trails this area is quiet, peaceful, and simply perfect. You can spend hours here and not run into anyone else. This is quite special as Zion tends to be packed with people from all over the world anytime of the year. There are several trails along the river that can get you all the way to the narrows or in the opposite direction to the grotto. These are not official trails but you can clearly see where so many have walked before you. Wildlife can be found everywhere. I've seen deer, turkeys, squirrels, and even a fox in this area. Big Bend is also a very popular photo spot due to how the Virgin River, and canyon turn sharply creating a dramatic scene. It's marvelous!

I got to see turkeys and deer though, so don't go rushing through or else you might miss some sweet wildlife viewing. If it has rained recently, there might be puddles or spots of mud. The trail ends at the river where The Narrows begin - aptly named as it's the most narrow part of the gorge. This hike passes through some swampland which is unusual terrain in the desert. It's due to the erosive forces of flash floods. Speaking of which, you shouldn't enter the The Narrows if there's any rain in the weather forecast or any rain in the surrounding areas. It's too risky to be caught in the canyon with any chance of flash floods. The trailhead/parking lot has water, as well as a lot of porta-potties.

I still enjoyed it and had fun going to the beginning of the narrows before turning back (which lots of people do who don't want to get wet). It's not a long walk either, like a mile or so so you can do it fast. It starts at the temple of Sinawava, plenty of signs point the way towards it. Would rec the walk even if you aren't going to do the narrows itself, just for the vibes :)

Anyway, this park has been around forever and whether your memories are of the lush, green grassy areas or the adjacent recreational equipment, you probably have a story of your own. Hopefully there are more happy memories than sad ones like mine. Because it's centrally located and a large size, there are lots of markets or community events that are held here. There is a parking lot nearby as well as ample street parking. It's a great space to bring the St. George and surrounding community together.

There is a farmer market every Saturday. The hours for summer are 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (noon) MDT until October. Winter hours are from November to April 10 am - 2 pm. Closed the last 2 weeks of December and all of January for winter break. This park is huge, plenty of space for big or small families to congregate too. Area to play pickle ball, run, shade to relax, walk with your fur baby on a leash, walk along the pathway with your signing other (you get the idea), safe enough to walk by yourself too and plenty of space to set up family outdoor games. Bathrooms, drinking fountains, and plenty of parking. Parking, little side rant. If you are parking on a Saturday when the area is busy, then it sucks finding a spot. The vehicles start parking at entrances/exits, then it turns into a one-way battle of who is turning around. In my opinion, parking should not be allowed in those narrow entrances/exits. Otherwise, it is FUN, FUN, FUN... and next door to rodeo grounds, too.

There's a path that winds through the park that takes you through the trees, past the flowers and the bushes. There are signs throughout that tell visitors what plants are in the area, so you can better identify what you're looking at. Even though it gets extremely hot in the summer, there's a good amount of shade, so this park can be enjoyed morning, noon and night.

The best time to visit would be Fall because the entire area was full of yellow and orange trees (Freemont cottonwoods). We walked here after visiting Thunder Junction and it was a nice place to stretch our legs and take in a nature walk. - Duck pond

When the Zion Canyon Shuttle is running, Weeping Rock is shuttle stop #7…read more This trail is pretty short at 0.4 miles, but it is pretty steep with stairs at the end! If you are fit and fast, maybe you could do it in 10 minutes, but if you want to enjoy a slower pace or have small kids, maybe budget closer to 45 minutes. This area drips continuously since the Navajo Sandstone layer is porous like a sponge and so water runs through it and seeps out due to gravity. Do not expect a waterfall at the end of this hike. Standing in the alcove, you can see down the valley and admire Angels Landing, the Great White Throne, etc. The hike is definitely unique and worth checking out if you have some time in your schedule. It does get crowded and there were a bunch of people filming themselves at the end of the trail (for social media?) so if you're looking for solitude this place isn't it.

Weeping Rock was one of my favorite hikes at Zion National Park!…read more It's considered an easy trail, but just a heads up, it is steep going up. It's not a long hike at all, but that incline definitely caught me a little off guard. If you take your time, though, it's very doable and completely worth it. You get to it from shuttle stop #7, so it's easy to add into your day if you're already using the Zion shuttle. Once you make your way up, the view is beautiful. You get this really pretty look at Zion, and then you have the water dripping down from the rocks, almost like little waterfalls. That part was my favorite. It felt peaceful, cool, and different from the other stops I visited in the park. There's just something about standing there with the canyon around you and the water coming down that makes it feel special! Even with the steep walk up, I'm so glad I did this trail! It was short, scenic, and ended up being one of the most memorable parts of my Zion trip! If Weeping Rock is open when you visit, I'd definitely make time for it.
