Be careful when buying this. Was told by sales person we had unlimited hop on hop of for "24 Hours". In reality the 24 hours just put a block of 24 hours with stop operating at 1745 until next morning. We also got the statue cruise with it and couldn't make it to the cruise on time with their busses. Had to get a taxi back since busses weren't running anymore. Trued using the rest of the time the second day and again had to get a taxi back since our 24 hours ended at 1345. I called to complain and was to,d they would give me a free day but we were leaving and could only use it on NYC. Don't waist your time and money . Scam all the way. read more

Do NOT book Topview NYC Hop-On Hop-off bus tour. If you have a horrible experience like we did, Topview does not give you a refund and your credit card won't let you dispute it if you got on the bus. I emailed them after we got home as I didn't see a phone number to call on our tickets, and they offered a free pass. Why would we want to go through this experience again - or worse, give it to a friend or family member? We purchased 2, 48-hour "Discovery" passes for $170. They say the buses will come every 15-20 minutes. Day 1: Topview did not show up after waiting 40 minutes, while the Big Bus drove by several times. We had to pay for a cab to make sure we didn't miss our 12:15pm Empire State bldg tour. Then, we got on a bus (stop 5, Empire State Bldg) to go to our 5:15 Statue of Liberty Cruise (stop 11) and the bus started breaking down and would sit at each of the stops for about 10-15 minutes. This ride took so long that we missed our 5:15 Statue of Liberty Cruise. Then, the bus broke down completely. We stood out on the sidewalk for about 45 minutes waiting for another bus to show up (they definitely don't come every 15-20 minutes) and as soon as the other bus arrived our driver got our bus to work and we got back on. Big mistake, as it broke down again and we had to take a cab back to our hotel. We were so exhausted from the "transportation" issues with these buses, we didn't have the energy or desire to try to do the night city lights tour. Day 2: Same thing, but instead of standing at the stop we walked 10 blocks, stopping at each stop on the way with no Topview bus showing up. We finally saw a Topview bus at a stop but it was broken down. We had to take a cab to our Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island tour so we wouldn't miss it. Broken down buses and buses not showing up only works if you plan on just riding the bus all day. It definitely doesn't work if you want to get off and do something. This is not at all what we expected and not what we were promised. Avoid this company if you think this is a Hop On, Hop off bus service. Also, the buses aren't air-conditioned. When the bus broke down, it was cooler to get off the bus and stand under a tree then to sit on top in the bright sun, or sit in the bottom which just had a tiny corner fan in the back.  I also recommend checking Topview on Trip Advisor. We were not informed until the bus stopped and we were told to get off that the route wasn't including two stops for a road closure. We were twice sent to a new bus that we sat on for more than 20 minutes while they filled it up. One of those turned out to be a shuttle to the boat tour drop off that we were not taking and had to yet again get off and find another bus. We had difficulty with a party of 8 trying to split up because we had to have the original ticket on the app. What was a two day ticket turned out to be a big waste of time and money. read more

Review of TopView NYC Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tours (Uptown, Downtown + Liberty Cruise) 1/5 -- Extremely disappointing and poorly managed experience As someone who works in the travel industry and is a native New Yorker, I expected to recommend this tour to future visitors -- but after experiencing it firsthand, I cannot in good conscience do so. We purchased two TopView tickets for the uptown and downtown loops with a Liberty Cruise. While the man selling the tickets was pleasant, he was also extremely pushy about receiving a tip, claiming he gave us a "special deal" -- which turned out to be just the standard rate. To end the uncomfortable interaction, I gave him $5. Uptown Tour: We were told a bus would arrive in 10 minutes. It took over 40 minutes. Once we boarded, we collected the complimentary headphones and started the tour -- only to find no audio commentary at all. We passed major landmarks with no guide or narration. I ended up giving impromptu commentary to others on the bus, simply because I'm familiar with the city. When the audio did eventually begin, it was completely out of sync with our actual location. It was confusing, frustrating, and made the entire "tour" pointless. Downtown Tour: I didn't think it could get worse -- I was wrong. We were picked up at 42nd Street. The driver, for reasons unexplained, looped around Bryant Park up to 48th Street, completely off the usual downtown route. When I politely asked what was going on, she dismissively told me to take my seat and said it was a "scheduling issue." I mentioned that all the passengers were confused, and she snapped back, "Well now you know so you can go tell them." This level of rudeness and unprofessionalism is unacceptable, especially for someone working in tourism. In my professional opinion, she should not be interacting with customers. Once we were back on track, the audio commentary again was wildly out of sync -- describing the Theatre District as we passed Bryant Park. By the time everything aligned, we were already in SoHo. At South Ferry, the driver stopped to have a personal conversation about birthday drinks with a coworker -- ignoring the fact that she had a bus full of paying passengers on a scheduled tour. When we returned to Port Authority, she abruptly told everyone to get off -- even though she had just picked up a family of three at Hudson Yards and sold them tickets! Final Thoughts: This entire experience was embarrassing, frustrating, and unprofessional. I would strongly discourage anyone from using TopView Tours in NYC. Their staff are poorly trained, rude, and disorganized. The buses are unreliable, and the audio guides are essentially useless. Though I haven't personally tried Big Bus Tours, I would confidently recommend them over TopView, as they can't possibly be worse. The experience could've been so much better. I'm a native New Yorker, wanted to do this because my nephew wanted to ride on these buses. I should have done my research before I bought the tickets. We lined up at 9:30 to wait for the 10 AM bus, which is the first bus. The bus did not come until 11 AM because apparently there was a new dispatcher and that person came wrong directions to the bus driver so we didn't get on until 11 AM. There were two couples ahead of us and they were waiting since 8:30 AM. The street sales people told them that the first bus was 8 AM so these guys waited for 2 1/2 hours. When they confronted the ticketing agents near us, those agents just blamed the other sales people. Not even an apology. Just a lot of smart and snide comments. They ticket sales people flat out LIED about the Statue of Liberty tour... told us we could get a hop on/off 1-Day pass and take the "free SoL ferry" (fyi, the ferry they were talking about takes the locals back and forth to staten island (to go to and from home) BUT you BARELY even see the SoL... At any rate, we waited 1.5 hours just to get on the bus. Then the bus ride was 45 min to get to the pier... It was chaotic at the bus stop. The timing of each shuttle was wayyyy off. Wow..... Where do you start? I purchased tickets for a family of four so that we could get a great view of NYC and learn a little history simultaneously. That's what I hoped for..... Well, the bus took forever to arrive then it was overcrowded so we had to sit on the ground level until people from the top level got off of the bus. Its vacation in July, there are a lot of people out experiencing the Big Apple, no problem, we will wait!!! The problem is that the first level of the bus has no air conditioning. It is over 100 degrees outside and the bus driver packed us all into the bottom level of the bus with no air conditioning. Then, to make matters worse, the listening devices did not work. I paid $500+ for this???? So now, I am sitting on a bus with a family of 4, two of them being kids under the age of 12, and the bus has no air conditioning or sound. We already know that this is not going over well. We stayed on the bus for 30 minutes hoping to get a seat when people left the top level. That did not happen. It did not happen because the bus did not move anywhere. We sat in the same location for 20 minutes, watching more people getting on and waiting on their Top View's buses to "spread out so that people could actually hop on and off." We finally move one stop about 5 minutes down the road, and we wait another 5 minutes in the same spot. After we lost 5lbs sweating to death, we got off the bus and walked/took city buses, which have great air conditioning, to our destinations of choice. Of course I ask for a refund, but you already know how that goes. When you order your tickets, you can talk to customer service agent, the manager, the supervisor and anyone you need, but the second you ask for a refund, you are on hold and no one ever answers the phone. The next day, a representative called me and asked me "How my trip was and was wondering if I could write them a positive Yelp review?" I really thought that she was messing with me. This is the absolute biggest scam in the city. They have street vendors selling tickets, who have no actual information on how this service "works" (it doesn't). We thought it would be cute and bought a two day pass. The man told us to go get on at stop 2, it's the best stop. Newsflash you can't get on at any stops, because there's so many people and no limits on how many tickets they sell. The busses do not leave once they're full, they sit and wait and wait. We currently are on this bus tour and have 48 hour tour passes. We are on a bachelorette trip and this has been the worst experience I have had thus far. We were denied getting on the first bus, then had to wait 10 minutes for an empty bus to sit and leave and for another bus to come. Following getting on the bus headphones were thrown at us and the driver informed us 'it's an audio tour' before walking away. As we are attempting to board our second bus, we had a group of people cut in front of us and the driver of the bus told us that he already said there were no seats on the top or bottom and told us to get off. We have been waiting for one of these busses for approximately 45 minutes now. 3 Big Bus tour busses have gone past us and we were denied entry onto the only one that has stopped due to a group cutting in front of us. The driver politely informed us another bus would be here 'in just a few minutes' and told me I was lying when I told him we hadn't seen one. Please DO NOT waste your money on this business. I decided to go on the tea around town bus for my birthday. The only thing that brought joy to the experience is the people I went with. The whole tea bus was a disaster. I attended with five people we pay for VIP and paid close to $800. That is way too much money to not enjoy the experience. They ran out of champagne. They only had certain teas available. The bottle water was hotter than the tea. The finger food was questionable. There was someone singing, but we couldn't hear him. We paid for a VIP but was served last. They gave us a cup of tea, but ran out of champagne glasses. So they wanted us to rush and finish our tea so they can give us champagne IN THR SAME CUP. We did the 48 hour hop on/off tour in NYC. First - buy from their web page verses the people on the street. It's cheaper on the page than in person. Most of the audio didn't work during both days. We toured Downtown NY day 1 and Uptown NY day 2. There are limited buses for the Uptown tour and two of those buses broke down during the tour. Topview ends earlier than the other tour buses - didn't catch the name of those ones. Downtown tour was great and it ran pretty frequently. read more

This company is unethical and down right criminal. 3 of us went to New York for our mom's 80th birthday. We reserved a 9 pm night tour and was waiting for the bus to show up at #2 Stop near Time Square. It was right before rain and very cold. 45 min passed by and no bus showed up. I called, no answer. There was no text or email. We decided to go back to hotel because it was too cold for our mom. Then I noticed the tour was canceled on their app. Didn't say why or how. I contacted them via email for refund and apology. Their responds was once a day repeating same thing as if it was done by AI or copy/paste. No refund and all sales are final. There bus didn't show. Top view took my $150 and more importantly a night wasted on our vacation. It's been 5 days, we came back to west coadt home, and now they dont even respond. This is down right a robbery. If I could give them a negative 5 stars, I would. This place sucks and steer away from them. I wish I had checked reviews prior to getting tickets. They told my group that they go up town, and down town with frequent hop on/hop off stops. They said the bus comes around every 15 minutes - more lies. They also told my group the bus's run until 9pm. . . they don't. We "jumped off" at Central Park and after 15 minutes, it started to rain and it was getting colder (upper 30's). We waited over 1 hour for the bus, then finally called and we were told no - the bus only comes around every 1 1/2 hours. We ended up walking to the next pick up stop and waited. Worse part about the whole thing was they only had a few seats below (which were all full) and had to go to the top that had NO PROTECTION FROM THE COLD/RAIN. It was all open with nothing to protect us. The seats were soaked and we were soaked. THEY ADVERISTED THE BUS'S WERE WINTERIZED (and showed pictures of a top being on the top level). We went back to the hotel to dry off and changed out of wet clothes. We made the mistake of going to China town via this bus - (we paid for 24 hours). Again, when we got back on - no empty seats on the lower level and had to sit on the top of the bus - still open to the elements. It was cold but at least the rain had stopped but was misting. We got off at the next stop (around 4PM) because we wanted to head to Bloomingdales but was told by the driver - everybody had to get off because he was going home for the day. What the hell? Misleading and disappointing - bait-and-switch experience We went to 8th Ave & W 46th St to buy tickets for the NYC Skyline Night Tour with Live Entertainment. We were right outside the bus, spoke with an agent who was there with the driver, and clearly asked to buy tickets for that specific tour. Only after we paid were we told we had to go to a different location to catch another bus. That meant leaving a very short line and joining a much longer one elsewhere -- with a long wait. Worst of all, the tour we ended up on had no live entertainment, even though that was one of the main reasons we booked. It felt like a bait-and-switch. This is the worst company! Do not purchase from them. We had no air conditioning on the bus during a heat wave! Wouldn't even open the windows or door. There was no notifications from the tour guides or driver of what stops we were at. We had to do guesswork to figure out where we were! There wasn't any guides or information, just long lines and rudeness like we were herds of cattle. They should have told us about the time limit for The Top of the Rock! The recorded tour was decent but not great and sometimes not in sync with the bus's location. The website says they have a live update map but customer service said that just means they post alerts. There is no way to know when a bus is coming. The worst part was the condition of the busses. Two of the four I was on smelled badly of diesel fumes and one of those also had a light cover missing making the light blinding after dark. The upper level is partially covered but the cover leaked so badly in the rain that most of the seats were wet. The driver didn't tell passengers when they get on that the only seats were in the rain and he wouldn't move the bus until everyone was seated. I will not use Top View again. This review is for TopView, but more specifically for phenomenal angel, Efe Ufuah. Efe sold tickets to my 97 year old mom and I for TopView on 3/28/25. She walked us from our hotel, (The Grand Hyatt) to the pickup spot, (about 3 blocks away) Efe, was so attentive to mom ensuring that her footing was stable and the pace was suitable. She engaged mom in pleasant and friendly conversation and was extremely kind and caring! Our adventure was lots of fun and a perfect sampling of greater Manhattan! And here's where Efe truly earned her angel wings! The following day I took mom to an exquisite brunch at The Grand Brasserie in Grand Central Station, (Spectacular restaurant, by the way!) Unfortunately, mom ate food that was too rich for her and as we walked back to the hotel she became very weak and collapsed. As luck would have it, Efe happened to see mom and immediately rushed to her assistance. Efe helped mom into a men's store, (Charles Tyrwhitt) and stayed by mom's side in the bathroom. Mom became continuously ill in a very violent manner. This saint of a woman, (Efe) cleaned mom up and mom's mess. . . repeatly! She then went out of the bathroom into the store and found the smallest pair of pants for mom to purchase and change into. I can't imagine what I would have done had Efe not been there! This woman is an absolute godsend! Thank you for all your generosity and grace, Efe! You are truly a remarkable blessing!!!
