We received the steamer through Gold Belly. What an ordeal it came absent directions with the exception of a QR code. When I reached out to Gold Belly - there referenced the directions in box which was not there. They said contact Top Sail Steamer. OK no instruction on there site. I mean this is not an inexpensive meal. Yes there is a video but I just want a one pager so I can carry to the kitchen vs. going back and forth to view on my home computer. Should have known there is no phone number or 800 number to contact TS. My recommendation is just to go out to eat. Too much frustration just to cook a meal. UGGGHHH read more

Stick with a nearby location. We have ordered every time we are in Topsail, NC. This time for Father's Day we tried delivery to Richmond, VA. Couple things. Goldbelly does not allow you to add extra corn and potatoes like the local Steamer website does. Regardless the amount of potatoes we got was a joke. And I'm wondering if even the amount of sausage and shrimp we received are for 4-6 people. This wasn't our experience last year where 4 men had a tough time getting through all the food. This time it looks like 4 children could get through it easily. I will not be ordering delivery again and when we visit in August I will see if the amount of food is the same as last year when ordering locally. read more

We got a steamer for five people and added sausage to it because we had a little more than five people. When we arrived to pick up our steamer everything was laid out and organized. Very efficient, quick pick up. We had everything we needed for the steamer, including the paper for our table and instructions. The food was very fresh. The crab legs cracked perfectly. Such an innovative idea to prepare seafood in a steamer bucket for people to prepare at the beach with their families! Our seafood was fresh, well seasoned with fairly generous portion sizes. There's sausages potatoes and corn too to spice things up. Very worth it for the price. Their service is spectacular too. Honestly one of the best parts of the beach was preparing the seafood steamer bucket with friends and eating together! I heard about this "experience" and I decided to drive 45 minutes there. You arrive to see that there is no seating as it is not a place to cook or eat your food. It is basically a seafood market that caters to sell you a disposable steamer style cooking kit. The staff is very nice and informative about what they are selling. Except for the marketing of the steamer kits. This is an expensive seafood market. If the price of the seafood was the same as my local seafood market prices then maybe it could be worth the extra cost for the kit. Every part is higher priced even if I were to buy only the seafood without the kit, the seafood is marked up. You will pay three times the cost of crab legs, clams, and shrimp from Sam's or Costco. If you get your ingredients from a local fishing boat like I do from my neighbor the cost is even less for the fresh jumbo shrimp. I experimented and found that I can cook twice as much seafood by weight for half the cost, and no hour and a half round trip drive, than at this place. This is defiantly catering to talentless tourists that have more money than sense and also don't know better. read more

It was our anniversary we were camping but we wanted lobster. We planned to get some lobster rolls but discovered we could get lobster tails in a steam pot from Topsail Steamer. We ordered a custom pot on their website and requested a pickup time. We got emails during each phase of the process, picked our pot up on time despite a crowd in the store. I didn't realize the steaming process was up to us but they gave us everything we needed (pot, paper, spices and condiments) to have a perfect meal right on our campsite!! Without a doubt the most genius thing since sliced bread - delicious too! A little aggravated and hangry for lunch my family went to Topsail Steamer hoping to get out of the heat and sit for a nice lunch. We were disappointed when we walked in and saw that this was only a take out place however, we started reading the menu and became intrigued. Staff immediately greeted us, coming from behind the counter to offer help and answer questions. After a minute or two of reading the menu we quickly left to find food and as we were eating at another restaurant we read up on Topsail Steamer and based on what we read and the reviews decided to try it for dinner. As we were sitting we went online and placed our order. Placing the order online was beyond simple. There is an array of sizes, combinations, customizations to make this your own but not overwhelmingly so. In short, you select the size of the pot, protein selections, seasoning blends and time for pick up. Then simply show up, grab your pot and go. The pots are a one time use, although we cleaned ours and saved if for another time, and come with detailed instructions on how to cook the food. Everything is neatly packaged and separated based on cooking times. They make is super easy. When we picked our pot up the staff walked through the cooking process and explained everything in detail. They even provide a roll of brown butcher style paper for your table to dump the pot of food onto. It took about 45 minutes and we had a low country boil with plenty of clams, shrimp, scallops, sausage, corn and potatoes that tasted wonderful. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. I would hands down do this again and again. PS the jalapeno cornbread in the photograph was bought at Topsail Steamers but was actually made by another local company. read more

I guess people love the convenience of this....or have never made their own steamer pot before...it just seems to be a little bit of a rip off to me. Don't get me wrong, the process from ordering to pickup to cooking was very simple and easy! The food was fresh and definitely quality. However, if you have a pot of your own and there are several seafood markets on the island, I believe you could make this yourself a LOT cheaper just as easily! Drove by this place on our first night at our accommodations and were intrigued enough to come back the following day to try one of the meal buckets. For our group of four we got the smallest low country shrimp bucket that included shrimp, red potatoes, corn and andouille sausage. When you pick up your bucket the food is uncooked so we took it back to our house, added water and were set to eat about 45 minutes later. Ordered the Miss Emily II via Goldbelly for Mothers Day and it was absolutely amazing! Such a great find! The seafood was fresh and excellent and all of it was very well-packed. The crab legs stood out as very good and full of meat. We loved the kielbasa (add-on) and the andouille was ok, not what we are used to and was lacking real andouille flavor but all that is trivial. I only went in for a key lime pie and was not disappointed. The pie was filled to the top and was one of the better key lime pies that I've had.
