I would strongly caution anyone considering a perm at Toppers Salon. I brought in an inspiration photo and left with something that looked like an overprocessed 80s hair band style. The technique alone was alarming; neutralizer left in for about a minute, hair towelled immediately after perming, and then combed right away. It's no surprise the result turned out the way it did. What was supposed to be a trim turned into harsh, uneven layers that made the hair significantly shorter than discussed. When a fix was requested, the response was even worse than the service. Instead of accountability, there was belittling and dismissiveness. The most telling part was when the boss stated that this is how she trains her staff to do perms. At that point, it made complete sense why the boss didn't even begin to know how to correct the situation. Fortunately, I was able to have my hair fixed quickly at another salon, but that doesn't undo the experience here. I would not recommend Toppers Salon, especially for chemical services. read more

Had an appointment with Tina. Got there 5 minutes before. I ended up waiting 55 minutes before I walked out. Why schedule appointments if you have to wait an hour? I d recommend that anyone that schedules an appointment, show up atleast 45 mins late and you'll probably be on time. Biggest waste of time. read more

I specifically came in for a trim on my tips and slight shaping. (I've been growing my hair out for over a year and planed to continue to grow it throughout my schooling). The first thing the stylist did was cut the entire back off. I then told him what side I part my hair (left) and he cut it to part on the oposite side. (Right) I came in with a half-bun and left not being able to put my hair up at all. Very upsetting. He then made homophobic comments about my best friend who came in for his cut. Toppers salon outdid themselves in my opinion! I called very last minute the morning of looking for a spiral perm and they accommodated and fit me within 3 hours! After arriving to the salon Tina took care of me, she asked me what I wanted, I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she explained to me everything she'd do to produce that look. We ended up with some long layers throughout my hair and used curling rod size one; being that this was my first perm I didn't really know what to expect but when I saw the final result I was extremely happy, she did exactly what I wanted and I absolutely it! Not to mention after getting my hair done I received many compliments on it throughout the day. While I was there the other staff also seemed very friendly and accommodating, being that I was there for several hours and my boyfriend came with me, the offered us coffee or water which I really appreciated. read more

I started going to see Thang in college when I was a bit more free spirited with my hair styles...she rocked it then and has continued to impress over the years when I needed to tone it down or get edgy again! She is excellent with helping me talk through a style that may or may not be good for my face shape or a color that would work well with my skin tone (pale in winter and dark in the summer). Came in to get a Haircut and wax my eyebrows. They did a good job on my eyebrows but for my haircut it was horrible. The back of my head should have a straight line. I mean that's what everyone expects. I don't know what they were thinking. It's so uneven. Looked horrible. I have to wear hats till I get another haircut some where else!!! Well this is a long overdue review. I have probably been coming to get haircuts from Tina since 2017. I am most likely one of the pickiest and most strict when it comes to a haircut, and if I do not like my haircut even a little bit, I probably will not go back to an establishment. Tina's haircuts are so sharp, well-balanced, and accurate to what you ask for (100% if you show all-around headshots) that you will not be disappointed. She has skills to do very sharp barber style haircuts as well as longer precise cuts for those who want to maintain flow. I stand very sharply on what I say about this review, and I am so certain on her cuts that she could be 60% done with my haircut and if I walked out at that moment, the haircut itself would still be very exceptional. If you are extremely picky about haircuts and want it exactly the way you have previous pictures of, I guarantee you go to her and she will give you exactly that, hands down. read more

My husband is renovating a hotel in midway and we both needed a haircut so I searched and came across toppers. We went in an LJ took us right away! I have to say I think he gave me the best haircut I've had in years! He was extremely friendly and knew what he was doing. He also cut my husbands hair and did an amazing job. It's hard to find a good hairdresser these days, especially ones who take pride in their work and LJ killed it!! Not to mention how affordable both of our haircuts were!! Ladies: this is hands down the best place to get your eyebrows done. They will make your brows look full and natural and all for a good price. Prices are not as listed on website. I got a perm in late June. The website listed perms as 65+. I called to confirm a general price with the receptionist. I told her my hair length, thickness, etc. and she said that it would be between 100 and 150. Okay, more than 65 but it's not bad, and the salon has good reviews. The lady who did my hair was nice, but it took her over four hours to do. Possibly because she kept going to do other things. I was saving this review to see how long my perm lasted. I bought all the recommended products, didn't wash it for 72 hours, but two months later and it's almost completely gone. I was told it would last at least four. Also, for all that time, interruption, and it not lasting, the price greatly exceeded 150. The total was over 300. When I looked to the receptionist, whom I talked to, she just shrugged it off. I have been struggling to find a place that waxes eyebrows decently since I moved to Tallahassee and so far Toppers is the best I've been to. The receptionist was very polite and the atmosphere of the place was really pleasant and comfortable.
