The instructors are great, the workout is hard, but what makes it so hard to love this place is the owner. Instead of caring about his members and their enjoyment of the gym, all he focuses his time on is scamming his high-paying members on late charges. So if I add myself to a waitlist, and someone drops out at midnight, and now I've made other plans - thinking I can't get in this class - he CHARGES YOU! Get this, you're next in line... you actually go and fill the spot, HE STILL CHARGES ME! #MoneyGrab The owner's waitlist policy is disgusting, it's cheap and it's disgraceful. I've contacted my credit card company and the BBB as this is the 3rd time I've attempted to reason with him on this fraud. He couldn't care less and enjoying milking his members for all their worth. $22 is charged to you if you're on a waitlist and even say NO I can no longer attempt! Honestly, it's pitiful how he's grasping for $22 straws. See pics for examples.

Note that the new NoDa CORE 704 is now by the shopping center at Amelie's, rather than at their previous location in a house across from Heist. I started coming here with a friend for a different workout (other than the gym and weights), and I became obsessed! The instructors really help you and guide you in your moves and form, so that you don't injure yourself. The workouts are easy to follow and you are able to adjust based on skill level. I always come to this place with fear, but leave feeling amazing and sore! I definitely would recommend this place to anyone!

I hadn't worked out in over 2 years, I ate pizza for breakfast and worked at an office job.... Being mobile really wasn't my thing. After getting a physical where my blood pressure and cholesterol put me at risk for some health issues, I decided to make a change. I didn't know where to start but I decided to try Charlotte RIPS. Right away, Vito was very knowledgable and helped me feel comfortable by walking me through the process of what to expect and what was expected of me to see results. I've never been a gym rat but this is a place that I truly enjoy. It's only been about a month but already my overall health has improved and I'm starting to see results. If you want to be in a workout environment that strives to empower you to work towards your goals whatever they may be, as well as start your journey towards a healthier lifestyle then I would recommend this place. Don't be fooled though, you have to put in the work. My trainer is Andre and he always provides one on one specialized training to work towards my goals. All of the trainers are dedicated towards helping their clients become better and they help you learn how to eat better and adopt fitness as a lifestyle. This place is affordable and for the level of service provided, I highly recommend.

Thanks to the great trainers and smart programming I've learned how to lift weights efficiently, increase my speed, and do a variety of exercises I was about damn sure I could never do. Like 50 double unders in a row. Or 100 kipping pull ups. Or weighted push ups - yes, they do exist. Is it expensive? Well, yes and no. If you're making great use out of your membership - i.e. going to classes, heading to open gym, or yoga, or even Olympic lifting, the cost is absolutely justified. I mean, if you're going to spend money on one thing in your life it should be your health...right?! If you have any sort of motivation, you can absolutely make Ultimate CrossFit your home. You'll learn how to workout in an impressive, yet humbling way; you'll absolutely be inspired to come back again and again. And the people who are part of the gym - that includes managers, trainers and members - really make this place what it is. Oh - and they take music requests...listening to some Biggie Smalls really makes a workout.

I stopped by recently because it was convenient and brought a guest with me. Before doing anything, I asked the woman at the front desk how the guest policy worked. She didn't really explain it and instead just asked for my guest's information. I assumed she was simply checking the system to see if my guest had visited before. I stepped away for a moment to check whether the court was crowded, and while doing that, something came up that required me to leave earlier than expected. When I came back to the desk, I told her never mind and that I needed to leave. She responded, "It's okay, I sent the receipt to your email." That caught me off guard. I assumed it was just confirmation of entering my guest's information, especially since I thought guests used to be free (which is why I asked about the policy beforehand). When I checked my email, I saw that I had been charged $20. The issue isn't the money, it's the lack of communication. Before charging someone, the process and cost should be clearly explained. I've never had issues at the other locations I visit, so this felt like a one off experience, but it's enough that I probably won't return to this location.

I do wish they'd patrol the parking lot more in the evening (especially Friday) as numerous people park here and go to the surrounding restaurants and bars, making it difficult for members to find parking.
