Home ownership; yay! Truly, it's always something. On this 'something', I came across an issue with…read moremy deck that stumped me, contractors with whom I spoke and the internet. I knew what the final (resultant) problem was but I didn't know the cause and that meant that I didn't know how severe the issue was. One of the contractors whom I was working advised me to enlist a structural engineer so as to know what we were dealing with. Okay? How do I do that? He recommended a couple of websites. I looked on Yelp. I Googled. I cross-referenced. I found someone who referred me to David Cartwright. I called Mr. Cartwright out of the blue and left a rambling message. To my delight, he called me back and we spoke about the issue. He gave me his fee for an assessment and report ($250) to which I agreed and we made a date for him to come to my house. He made his way over on a semi-gloomy Saturday in late winter. I walked him through the history of my issues, what the contractors thought was going on, what I feared was going on, and where everything was. Mr. Cartwright was extremely through. He asked questions, took pictures, measurements, and other tools of the trade. He got up close and personal with the workings of my house. After he was done, he gave me an initial assessment, made small talk and he promised to give me a full report. Two and a half weeks later, I had an extremely thorough report with photos, stats, measurements, and all sort of engineering jargon. TL;DR my worst fears were not realized and I didn't have any structural issues to be concerned with. I sent the report on to my contractor and the next part of the saga began. But, at least, my house was structurally sound. That was a BIG relief. In case you might be in the market for a structural engineer, I'm paying it forward by leaving this review. I'm also hoping this might set off some good karma for the week.

Having just replaced the roofs on all the units, we had concerns as we noticed that during the ice storm several large limbs fell from the ash trees. Our regular tree service people were booked up and they recommended Right Choice Trees, LLC. As a new vendor for our HOA, we received and reviewed several different quotes. After walking the property and speaking to Jose, we chose Right Choice Trees, LLC. Jose is very knowledgeable and steward of the land and trees. Their pricing was very reasonable and constant communication made it easy. Jose's crew was very professional and personable. They were very efficient. They also took care of some extra trimming that was overlooked in the original quote. Their cleanup was great! It's really hard to find a crew like this today. I'm glad we did. Don't hesitate.
