In August to October 2018 SE&I wrote 4 separate engineering reports on my home for my builder,…read moreBeazer Home. In the last report Michael Vines, owner of SE&I, stated that the home was brought back to industry standards. Within a few months we began having issues again. A subsequent home inspection and independent engineers report shows damaged joists, a crushed main girder and damaged rafters and rafter webbing. All of these issues should have been noted earlier had the engineers at SE&I done their job properly instead of covering the builders butt. If these guys are being hired by your builder do not trust them. Their lack of professionalism has led to $130k+ in required repairs to my home.

Requested a quote for inspection on whether our attic could withstand flooring for light storage…read more Was told over phone by the staff: "Attic Feasibility Inspection" $550 for one hour of inspection and one hour off-site for the report and does not include any calculations ("calculations" for figuring out the weight it can support, what may need to be done to make it ready for flooring, etc). Calculations are billed at $150 an hour and are typically billed for a half hour. So, $600+ for the inspection of the attic joists. Must. be. joking. They no doubt consider themselves trained professionals, so somehow they think people will pay $600 for an hours worth of work (wouldn't believe for a second that it would take them more than an hour). They need a class on the willingness-to-pay threshold. They are missing the boat here. When combined with the other reviews suggesting low worth of the work, I would laugh over the phone if given the chance again.
