I hired Top Steamer because I wanted to hire a small, local company instead of one of the larger corporate giants. I am a little disappointed about that decision. I called Top Steamer, got a quote of $120 for my two bedroom, living room, & dining room apartment, let them know I had a $10 coupon from Yelp, and scheduled an appointment for the next day. Top Steamer came about 20 minutes late and cleaned most of my carpet but I'm not 100% satisfied. I left my fiance in charge of supervising the carpet cleaning because I was at work so when I returned I noticed that they didn't move my bed to clean the carpet underneath it. They cleaned around my bed but the majority of the carpet in my bedroom is actually under my bed because it takes up almost my entire bedroom. Becuase of their 100% satisfaction guarantee, I called Top Steamer two days later to tell them that 80% of the carpet in my bedroom didn't get cleaned and I paid for the whole room. Top Steamer told me it was there policy not to move large furniture and that if I wanted that carpet cleaned, I should have moved the bed myself. I advised that I was not aware of there policy & I would've had my fiance move the bed had I known. Top Steamer argued with me for 15 minutes about how there prices are lower than all the other companies that would have ripped me off, that there policy is not to move large furniture, and my fiance didn't complain at the time of service. All I wanted from that conversation was for them to honor there represented 100% satisfaction guarantee and offer to come back and clean the carpet in the bedroom. After hearing all Top Steamer's excuses, they reluctantly agreed to come clean just the carpet under my bed but that they would refuse me further service! Seriously, no apology, no responsibility for their work, but rather a "you got what you paid for" attitude. Also, regardless of their $110 quote with the Yelp coupon, they charged the full $120 at the time of service and then blamed my fiance's failure to remind them at the time of service. Make sure you remind Top Steamer to do their own job of keeping track of their quotes too. Overall, Top Steamer will clean your carpet but you'll be blamed for any dissatisfaction. They really pulled some strings to get me in thier schedule. And even though we have wine and drinks on the rug they did a great job in removing everything withOUT extra cost. While Top Steamer does offer value added services the good stuff is built into their regular pricing. I got a call about 30 minutes prior to my appointment stating that they would be a "little" late. When I asked how long they quoted me a time 2-3 HOURS AFTER MY SCHEDULED TIME! By the time they actually arrived, they were almost 4 HOURS LATE. I had printed some online coupons but my unit did not specifically match any of the descriptions so they would not apply ANY of the available coupons to my service (no matter how closely they matched the description, it wasn't exact). When I asked if they would then offer a discount for the extreme tardiness, all he could offer me was $10 off. For being 4 hours late that was unacceptable! At the very least accept a coupon! I finally got him to offer me a $20 discount, still less than one of the coupons I had printed, but I was felling OK to accept that. THEN he tacked on an extra $35 for the ottoman they cleaned. Which, by the way, when I asked for that to be added there was no discussion of price. So, just FYI, a 3ftx3ft ottoman (top only, not even the sides) will run you close to $40! Of course I argued that as he never quoted me for that addition, nor would I have expected such a small piece to cost that much. Plus, my thought was: after a 4 hour wait, they would do that free of charge since he didn't state it would be extra. When I proceeded to voice discontentment with the price I was being charged, he told me that he didn't understand what my problem was and why I hadn't said something when they first got there - well first of all, I didn't want anyone doing a shotty job, and secondly because I did not expect for them to not allow me to apply a single one of the printed coupons. And third, I had already voiced my concerns when he told me this on the phone...no point to beat a dead horse when they got here! He then proceeded to offend my faith by stating that he thought I was a Christian, he had noted some photos he had seen and crosses I have in my home, but now he was seeing something else. Yes, my mistake, since I was unhappy with the total inconvenience of waiting for 4 hours and asked for a discount I must certainly not be a believer. At that point, I was mortified and had had enough! DO NOT use this company! They are not honest with their prices, they refuse to accept responsibility for their errors, they will not honor coupons, and they have no respect for your time. I ended up having to take the afternoon off work which was not expected. Very disappointing service and complete lack of service recovery.
