The company is reputable and did not try to charge me for any extra "mess" even when someone spilled a bit of beer. My only complaint was that the bus was advertised as having "Bluetooth and auxiliary" capabilities for playing music. However after driving around for 15 minutes, none of us were able to figure out how to get out phones connected. The driver eventually pulled off and helped us get the radio going. We were brought a different driver for the second half of our trip who was able to have us play pur own music. An unfortunate incident but I would still give them 5 stars!

The routes aren't linear, and some of them bifurcate, so the best way to learn to take the bus is to use Google Maps directions on public transportation. Then experience will improve your bus taking skill. Taking the bus is a challenge in inclement weather as snow removal clearly prioritizes cars over pedestrians so walking to the bus stop and climbing into the bus from the bus stop can be arduous and dangerous due to ice and plowed snow piles. Still, it's better for me to get on the bus rather than to shovel my car out. The other thing that was hard to get used to is how nice MCTS bus drivers are. In Chicago CTA workers are known for their hostility, unwillingness to provide the merest minimum of assistance, and their generally bad attitudes. Bob Newhart started out his career with a stand up routine imagining how in CTA bus driving school drivers practiced stopping to maximize the number of passengers who would fall. MCTS bus drivers are usually very skillful, polite, and surprisingly frequently heroic. Recently a bus driver rescued a toddler running around without an adult in freezing weather in the street, and another driver got her riders to help push a woman stuck in her car on train tracks during a snow storm. In spite of any weather, they tend to run on time. It's always a good deal, but it's even better when you buy a transit card.

There's no reason why facebook and amazon have to be filtered. The buses themselves are hit and miss for safety and cleanliness. Some passengers are rude and aggressive, including distracting the driver, but nothing is done. The floors are filthy and given what you are paying, they could at least clean them up. The pickup point at Mitchell isn't clearly marked. That's a safety risk, especially for panhandling. The fare from Milwaukee to Madison is overpriced with all the stops. If it was direct from Mitchell to Madison without any stops, $23 wouldn't be too bad. With the stops, it should be less. Amtrak for all of its faults is overall a better service. Too bad it doesn't go from Milwaukee to Madison.

I also liked that C-A-P's quote included the bus, driver, fuel, mileage and tax. (The only thing it doesn't include is the driver's tip.) The bus was really modern, super clean, had a screen (in case you wanted to stream anything) and a great blue tooth speaker system we connected to. Barb in the office was so communicative ... we never worried the bus wouldn't show, and Nathaniel, our driver, texted when he was on the way and was great all night.
