We went to Top Nails as it's the place my best friend used to go when she lived in the area. We made an appointment and were quickly taken to stations, but still had to wait a little bit. Mimi was the person I had for my pedicure and she was very thorough and so sweet. I'm impressed because usually my toes chip or break quickly but this is over a week later and they still look absolutely perfect. They have a ton of color options, comfy seats and although I brought my own flip flops, I saw that they don't give out the cheap super thin ones. They actually give out nice, sturdy ones that have a bamboo bottom. I wouldn't be afraid to walk outside/go home in those. While we were there, they mentioned that they do holiday gift bags for appointments around the holidays and told us to make sure I come back. Since my boyfriend lives in the area I definitely will. A really good place in WH. Will you get spa like service? No . but you are going to get a great manicure and pedicure that lasts a really long time! Prices arent bad at all and if you go around Christmas time you always get a gift bag filled with top brand things like OPI and nailtiques! This place has absolutely spoiled me on the color choices because they are always up to date on the newest nail colors and always have the newest OPI collections! (Unlike other salons who have the same old 20 nail polish bottles for years... yeeek) If I see it in a magazine ad, chances are you will see it at Top Nails. The only thing I do not like is when Jennifer does my nails ... because it takes double the time because she gets up every minute to help do something else - but it's not a huge problem. read more

This place was a great find! I needed a gel mani in a pinch so I stopped in with a girlfriend on a Friday afternoon. They seated us immediately (though it did take a little while for both technicians to start us). The staff was entirely friendly and learned our names. Jennifer the owner is the sweetest person I've ever met and my nails looked so great after they finished. I've been to this nail salon before for gel or regular manicures and it's been great. I went for a dip powder manicure and it was awful. I've been getting dip manicures for the past few months at Anna's beautiful nails and they were amazing. Lasted over 2 weeks and never chipped. I went to top nails and the next day one of my nails chipped. They fixed it for me. But then the next day 2 more chipped. I wasn't going to go back everyday. It's been less than a week and 5 of my nail have chipped and now my actual nails have broken because they don't have any polish on them. I'm really shocked what a terrible job they did and I will never go back. read more

I had a really weird experience here. It was my first time at this nail salon and when I asked the price of a full gel acrylic set no one gave me a direct answer for about a minute then I was told $85. I was surprised because I hadn't mentioned any patterns or designs so $85 seemed like a lot compared to other local places. I asked if they had a list of services with prices and they pointed at the wall where it said that a full acrylic gel set was $60. Once I noticed the price difference between what I was told and the price posted I was rushed by the staff to sit down and pick a color. I decided to go with a regular gel mani because I didn't feel like $85 was reasonable and the whole situation was uncomfortable. Not the relaxing experience i was hoping for and I definitely won't go back. I love supporting local businesses in my community but the fact that it felt like they were trying to upcharge me was disappointing. And maybe it will work for you if: - you like friendly people - you like to support female-owned businesses - you want to feel confident that the staff are treated well - you need wifi while getting your polish on - you don't need to feel ultra pampered - you like twizzlers. they have free twizzlers. - you can get there during non-rush hour times. The traffic is a little crazy at rush but otherwise very easy Check it out. I hear that they will have all new pedicure chairs by April 2016. I have been looking for a good nail salons with fair prices in Hartford for a while. Finally I found it! Top Nails is a hidden gem, I was a bit skeptical on how good the gel manicure would be considering 25$ is definitely the lowest price I have seen. Based on other good Yelp reviews I decided to give them a try. The place is small with only about 6/7 nail tables so I would try and call ahead to make sure they have room. Cleanliness is very very important to me in a nail salon and top nails was a clean salon. The only negative I have to say about the space was it is not well ventilated at all.... The last thing I want to be breathing in is overwhelming nail polish fumes. For such a small salon they have an insane amount of colors. When I say they have around 100 or more gel colors in not lying... How do you even choose from that I know I had a hard time. Overall the manicure was pleasant and my woman did a wonderful job. You can tell they know their customers and are very happy to have new people walk in! It's been a week and my gel is still impeccable! read more

I have been coming to Top Nails for over 15 years. I love this group. Rarely do I just "walk in" because at times they are packed. If I do walk in I may have to wait but I always get done and the staff will stay past closing to finish. I usually try to call prior to though just to see if they are busy. Jennifer always answers and knows me by name. If she is busy she will give me a time to come otherwise she says "come right now and I can get you in". Their products? Awesome. You will never have a nail polish that is thinned out like other places just because they want to get more use out of a bottle of polish. They would rather throw a bottle away than use a sub quality product. Most people who come in are in a hurry. If you would like a slowing pedicure for instance, "JUST ASK" and they will accommodate you. If I want to soak for awhile I ask and they let me. If I need a longer foot message I ask and they will give it to me. During the Fall and Winter months ask for a hot towel wrap. You will love it. When I have chipped a nail of my own fault within a few days they fix it for free. Jennifer stands by her gel polishes. If they don't last for two weeks go in and she will fix it for free. I'm tough on my hands and I've done my share of goofs with polish. Always fixed. All I can say is thank you team. And for customers who want more please JUST ASK..... EXPLAIN WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. When I lived in West Hartford, I always visited Top Nails for my mani/pedi. It is small and sort of dated, as the other review stated, but they always do a great job, and were friendly and clean. My (finger)nails always lasted a week (a long time for a standard mani for me - I've had manicures last only 2 days - I didn't go back to any of those places!) They always give my (poor, calloused) feet a good scrub here, too. I've never left feeling like I needed to do anything myself. All in all, a good deal for West Hartford nails. Parking is ample when you come during down times.. but I could see how it's a tad problematic because the lot serves other businesses in the plaza. It's conveniently placed about 1/2 mile from the highway and off a major road in WeHa. I've come to this nail shop for years (since moving to the Hartford area) and this continues to be the only nail establishment I go to when I'm too lazy to do it myself, or want to feel pretty. The salon is not spick and span clean, but it's clean enough and they seem to take great care to scrub the foot soaking tub before I place my feet in (I appreciate it!). It also has a decent selection of nail polishes... albeit some may be quite old. The prices are well under what I was used to paying in Greater Boston and the quality of service is good. It's not OUTSTANDING service, but the girls are wonderful and seem knowledgable in regards to their craft. Don't come here if you're looking for service that goes above and beyond. It's not that sort of classy joint. Come here if you're looking for good service at a reasonable price. read more

I've come here twice with constant results. The ladies are warm, friendly, and efficient. I came with three young girls, and they were accommodating and understanding. Price is comparable to other places, but they are quick and do a great job. Only "downside" is that it's not the prettiest place and parking can be difficult. It's no frills. I have gone to them for awhile and thought they did a decent job with a shellac manicure. Then I was out of town and had to have my nails done. That's when I learned what a great manicure looks like! They took more time preparing my nails for the shellac and did a much cleaner job. Because of that I have left Tip Nails. I never liked the decor as there is stuff/decorations EVERYWHERE. It's noisy and the women working there speak to each other in Vietnamese while clients are in the chair. I've always found this to be rude. Also, the TV is always blaring and it's noisy. Though I ended up making an appointment for the next day because I wanted to get fake nails and they closed in 30 minutes which was not enough time to do that for me. Went to Top Nails after reading other Yelp reviews, and I am beyond pleased! Jennifer and her staff are so friendly and welcoming, and the comfort and conversation between the customers and the nail techs made it evident that they have many regular customers. The salon is very clean as well. The gel polish choices are too numerous to count, and include multiple popular brands such as Opi and CND Shellac. I got a gel manicure from Kim, and she did an amazing job of replicating some 2 color nail art from Instagram that I showed her. As a first time customer, I was given a lovely bottle of Opi jasmine hand lotion when I paid, and was told that there would be no charge for the gel soak-off if I return ($5 charge this time because I came in with gel from a different salon). They also said to come back and they would fix anything if there was a problem. Even with the upcharges for the soak-off and the nail art, the gel mani was still only $37 with tax, which is so reasonable. The staff appeared to be more interested in talking with each other than helping the customers. I came in for a regular manicure and pedicure and after a moderate wait (10-15 minutes) I was able to be seated. They did a fine job on both my toenails and fingernails but the atmosphere was very stressful. I go to get my nails done to relax but in this tiny salon it felt hectic and rushed. The woman doing my nails would have to stop every few minutes to address a walk-in client, answer the phone, and do cash transactions. Might be a good place to go on a weekday, but I will avoid weekends from now on. Mani/Pedi was around $38 which is a great price. Cash only tip. read more

Rude! I went in with my child , who was in a stroller... I asked if their narrow walkway was the entrance, and I was told to go to the other door.. come to find out it wasn't even their door I was directed to, so they had me spin around for no reason . When I asked why she told me to go to the other door, she said she thought I said something about daycare smh. As soon as I went in one of the nail techs glanced up at my child's stroller from her seat and said something in her native language .. I'm assuming saying to the other girl to tell me there's a long wait seeing how I had a baby with me ! The other girl spoke in English and told me the wait would be 30 mins for a pedicure because other ppl (WHO WERE NOT EVEN THERE YET) had apts .. but the funny thing is I called before I went, and they never told me there was a wait or ppl ahead of me for "appointments ". I know they said that because I had a child with me . This place is small as ever and I could barely get through the entrance with my child's stroller. Will not be returning at all. If they don't want kids in their establishment a simple sign would be great, instead of shooing away someone because they have a child with them. read more
