After getting an email two days ago from the national styling chain in NorthPark mall where I usually get my hair cut that the price of their "cut and style" were rising to "$70+ - $140+" (with my stylist on the highest end), I decided to look around. Top Hair Cuts was the top result in my zip code search. I looked on Yelp and saw great reviews, so I thought I'd give them a try. I dropped in just after they opened at 10am today (a Friday). I was told there was a 15-20 minute wait. Twenty minutes later I showed the lady (I unfortunately forgot to ask her name) a couple of photographs of my last haircut at the place in NorthPark. It isn't at all a NorthPark experience; it's at a strip mall off Skillman and Audelia. She cut my hair dry (with water from a spray bottle), but she did a FANTASTIC job. I've been told (by a stylist) that I have "four times the amount of hair of a normal person" and I'd let it grow since October 2020. She cut it exactly the way I asked, and asked me if I wanted her to "thin" it a little (other stylists do this without asking). I told her it was okay as it was. She still went over it for another 5-7 minutes making sure the ends were even. When I went to pay, she gave me the credit card slip to sign, and when I frowned at it, she said, "Ladies' haircut is usually $16, but your hair was long and thick, so $5 extra." She didn't understand; the amount of the haircut was roughly what I've tipped in the past. It was a joy to be able to tip her the same amount and still feel deliriously happy at the great bargain. This is a great place. I hope they're able to stay in business and keep the humble prices. (There's also a great bakery right next door - the Jolly Jolly Bakery - but that's another review. Told a friend about this place, based on another friend's good experience. OMG! Disaster! The stylist was "shear happy" and gave my friend a terrible haircut. I saw her yesterday. Really bad. My friend is upset. I feel terrible. I told her I'm going to pay someone else to fix it. I know 2 sisters operate this place. This bad cut was done by the sister working on weekdays. I'm just sick about this and so sorry for my friend's terrible experience. Just sad. Like I said, another friend had a good cut. But this friend did not. They don't charge much, but based on what I saw, I wouldn't risk it. read more

Update 6/20/17: Still awesome! She helped me fix a color I really didn't like and gave me a beautiful red. Now I feel so lush and gorgeous! She is very kind, calls me beautiful and is sweet and gentle with my hair and ears. Her prices are fantastic! Don't be put off by the location or the updates needed, her kindness and good work quality is worth everything. Love Lin. I uploaded the photos. The orangey blonde very light red is what I came in with after spending a lot of $$$$ and the deep red is what I came out with. It will lighten a bit but it's perfect and that's perfect. Her prices and quality are great. She does everything herself! She works so fast but with care, taking care of multiple customers with ZERO STRESS. Over 20 years experience!!! Old: Came back again! Last time Lin gave me my first highlights with red and blonde and short layered hair. I loved it and the price was great. This time I decided to get a pixie cut and just the blonde highlights. Total transformation as I've never had hair that short! I was scared but Lin made it look so great! I've already gotten nothing but compliments. It looks like I came from a fancy couple-hundred dollar salon but the price was amazing, so I left a big tip. The only downside to coming to this place is that it takes a lot of time, lots of time! However, customers who come here are prepared for that because they know the customer service, quality and price are top notch and a hidden servers. Love that I found this place. Don't go here unless you have half a day to waste, and are prepared for these people to let whoever jump in a chair before you - for whatever BS reason they barely even try to communicate. Also.. Friendly banter is one thing, but when they chat it up so much so they cut your hair completely incorrect - it's time to look for a cut elsewhere. I adore Lin and I've been going there for years, my hair is thick and I've probably broken combs so I make sure to tip her well. Prices are completely fair and they also do waxing. So cheap here!!! $15 for women haircuts. I only needed a trim and she did a good job at getting rid of my split ends. The last time I went to another stylist for a trim, he ended up layering my hair like crazy. I didn't want that, I just want a simple trim for my split ends. The lady was really nice and friendly. Lan is the only person who has cut my hair. I made the mistake of going to another stylist for convenience, never again! Anh cuts my husband's and dad's hair. Prices are so reasonable for quality cut! But be prepared to wait on weekends! Best time to go is earlier in the day, on weekdays around 11 am - 3 pm. She does exactly what you want (not like some salons; you tell them trim the ends- they cut 2 inches!) and she's super sweet. My hair gets cut RIGHT, in a timely manner, and I'm not spending $50 on a haircut every time. I do not like getting my haircut at salons or anywhere (I usually cut it myself) because it's usually expensive and the person does not cut it to the length I want or exactly how I want it and they're really chatty or annoying, the stylist, but since coming here, I feel very comfortable and my time is taken into account when I come here. Very bad!! I liked my hair way better when I went in than when I came out. The color I chose was not what she used. She cut my bangs way too short after I had already told her that I want them to line up with my eyebrows. She got color on my shirt and the other girl was burning my neck with the hair dryer and did not bother to put a towel or something so it wouldn't VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!!! read more
