But the amount of time it would require was overwhelming, Eggleston Shredding & Document Center came to the rescue. The timing has to be quick. Drop Off service is only available from 9 - 2 M-F. My visiting son had to work from home on Friday. He would be leaving on Sunday. So I worked till midnight going through the bags to separate the trash from the shredding items so he could get them in the vehicle ready to leave early the next morning. The Shredding & Documents Center is located on N Military Highway. The building doesn't face Military Highway but it's a very visible presence. There is a large drive through at the front of the building with numerous trash cans, similar to our city recycling bins, sitting out front. Walk into a very large lobby with a cashier style glass covered area with a friendly employee behind. She instructed us to take a bin, empty our bags and containers into it, then bring the container inside to pay. If I had known the size of the bin I could have saved the time in separating junk mail. The bin could handle a huge amount of documents. The cost, $45 per bin, was unbelievable. What a tremendous amount of time was saved for such a small cost. The employee explained that the bin would be taken immediately back & dumped into the shredder. A human hand would never touch my documents. Even better, they recycle the shredded paper. She provided me with a Certificate of Destruction & a receipt. We were then on our way. Eggleston is so much more than a source for shredding. They employ individuals with disabilities & provide them the chance to learn skills & gain confidence in their abilities and independence. Improving their quality of life through multiple programs is to be applauded. Among the services they provide to 1,500 individuals at 22 locations are rehabilitation services such as Day Support, Residential Support, Brain Injury Services, Veterans Programs & Community Employment. Business Services include Document Shredding & conversion of paper to digital. They do Commercial Landscaping, prepare donated vehicles for auction, and a number of additional services. A retail Garden Center & Farmers Market is also operated. Their work with the federal government includes commercial laundry, food service, mail room & custodial. What a wonderful mission this non profit begun in 1955 has for the people who need help in becoming employable. Eggleston was a great source for bulk shredding for me. But even better, the shredding of my documents provided learning skills to those who need it the most.

And a good place to learn something new that a person didn't know, because of all the jobs Eggleston has in different cities. The cleaning was scheduled for a Tuesday at 8am and her and her counterpart, Vanessa, arrived at 7:45am to inspect the home before getting started. Claudia walked me through everything she planned on cleaning, which I appreciated, and I stayed out the way to let them work. For a 1900 sq. ft. home, the cleaning took about 3 hours. They deep cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms, dusted, vacuumed and arranged necessary items to make the home look nice and tidy. The one-time cleaning service was $250, which included a deep clean of the oven as well. Claudia was super sweet and very personable, you can tell she takes pride in her work. WARNING TO ALL CUSTOMERS…read more TLDR: DO NOT believe the initial quote provided by this shop before their diagnosis and DO NOT let the staff intimidate you into paying more than what was initially agreed. LOOK ELSEWHERE or be prepared to DOCUMENT YOUR INTERACTIONS for a more truthful and respectful experience. The following is a summary of our experience to help ensure this does not happen to future customers. Context: An initial quote range of $180-300 for a MacBook screen repair was recieved from staff member Jacob, along with assurances that it would cost no more than that range. An $89 diagnostic fee was charged (they did not inform that this fee was nonrefundable, only that it would go toward the repair cost should the service be accepted) Days later a follow up phone call was made to the shop to confirm the final quote. A new and increased quote of $400 was provided by "Mo", the woman who answered the phone. When asked if a refund of the diagnostic fee could be arranged, Mo stated that the fee was nonrefundable, and did not seem to care when informed that we were never made aware that the fee was nonrefundable. She simply said "sorry". After stating the details of the intial visit to the shop, including the previously agreed upon quote range which was much less than the new quote, a staff member that goes by "Zombie" took over the phone call to emphasize that Jacob "tells everyone the diagnostic fee is non refundable" but an email address can be contacted for disputes. It's worth noting that Zombie's tone on the call was not polite and he seemed annoyed about the interaction. Zombie also stated that they would "check the security cameras to see if Jacob failed to mention the fee was non refundable", and text a man by the name of "Dennys" about the situation. It was not until after an email was sent regarding the refund, and a second phone call was made to the shop (answered by Zombie) to confirm the names of the staff members from the first phone call, that a refund was offered. At this point, Zombie's tone had completely changed to what it should have been from the beginning, empathetic and polite. To his credit, he even apologized. The favorable outcome of this interaction does not negate the negative experience endured, or change the fact that the actions of the staff were unacceptable. Unacceptable actions: - Inaccurate initial quote - Failure to inform that the diagnostic fee was nonrefundable - Failure to honor initial quote range - Rude demeanor of staff when concerns were voiced by customer While the value of $89 varies person to person, how a business treats its customers is what truly matters. Ultimately, what could have been a very positive customer experience was soured by the acts of the staff members regarding our concerns. As someone who has worked in customer service for 15 years at various management levels, here is a script for your staff that may prove helpful, as it seems the current staff has not been adequately trained, or simply fails to execute the training recieved: For customer concerns/disputes regarding conversations that happened in the shop that may need to be verified through camera footage: Staff member: "I understand your concern and I thank you for bringing this to our attention. Let's see how we can resolve this for you. Can you please share the details of the conversation?" (Once details are recieved): "Great, thank you for providing those details. Before a determination can be made, we will review what information we can on our end and get back to you regarding a resolution. What is the best way to reach you?" With the correct tone and attitude, the above script can go a long way in preventing my experience from happening to others. Cheers
