The I-55 location is just one (they all are terrible experiences), but let's start with Today, I decided to give the USA I-55 location another chance and walked in, as usual. Everyone there is rude. DO NOT GO HERE! Through networking with actual jewelers, I've heard that the owner of USA claims, 'I only offer people 5-10% of what eBay lists it for because if they are in a financial crisis, they will sell it!' (Scum of the earth mentality, if you ask me), but that's their problem. DO NOT GO HERE So, I took my gold necklace in and was lied to about it. They lied about the weight and claimed it was 10k instead of 18k gold. Along with these lies, Hans proceeded to offer me 40% of the melting value of the gold... 40% FOR GOLD, and that's with him lowering the karat and weight! He offered a ridiculously low price like 90% below what the gold is worth Spot value as of today. DO NOT GO HERE So, I started asking Hans why that price? Hanz keeps the attitude he has but now there's a stutter behind it with him responding with "well what do you want for it?" (Hanz is the guy behind the appraisal counter at I-55) I asked what the spot price of gold was today. (Which I already knew) He told me his calculation was off of today's melt value. Lied straight to my face. This is where I had fun and he knew he was about to be embarrassed because I pulled out my scrap calculator and started going m over the weight, karat, and melting value. His offer was around 9% of what my gold was worth. For reference, a bad price to sell gold at is more than 20% of melt. He couldn't speak a sentence without stuttering to a different explanation and then asks me angrily "well where did you go earlier?" I told him why is that his business and he said because he can see where I sold my silver at the pearl location... (they screwed me over paying me 50% of silvers Melt value without me realizing it). So this place is nothing but the lowest pieces of earth and a garage sale will earn you more. DO NOT GO HERE Gold is currency and This was a legal attempted robbery, and it breaks my heart knowing how many young and older people who really need the money are giving away thousands of dollars worth of gold for $120. People who store gold/silver do so for emergencies. I've pawned guns there before when battling cancer bills, for example. !!DO NOT GO HERE!! I hope the people running this place financially crash and experience what it's like needing cancer treatment and being paid 10% of what your life savings of gold is worth. Gold is currency, not just an item to pawn; you don't argue melt price. A pawn shop or any reputable bullion pays about 4% below spot when selling. !! DO NOT GO HERE!! So, please take your gold, silver, and diamonds elsewhere. It makes me sick how many people rely on gold for crises and rely on pawn stores for that 4% payout. Once I calculated the scrap value (which I already knew from experience dealing with these places that my jeweler's appraisal was right). I had to get out of there before I made a scene. And Hey Hanz if you're reading this sense people are only paying and selling gold at 60% spot value I apologize and lmk how many gold coins I'm able to buy around those prices...! A pawn shop is required to match at least 10-20% of silver's melt value. After calling out the appraiser on the $10/oz he keyed in, he proceeded to stutter and trip over his words when I asked him to explain the value. The older guy spoke up and said they don't pay over 50% for silver after he realized I wasn't new to this. They are absolute scum as a business.
