I really needed to have my dog groomed as it had been way too long & I went on yelp and sent out a project request I guess it's called. Top Dog got back to me promptly & gave me an intro special quote, & despite me having to cancel the first time at the last moment, scheduled me for the next available appt. which was really appreciated. No attitude at all. The reception guy welcomed me warmly and went over everything & took the dog thru the doors. He said it usually takes about 2 hours, but I knew this one was going to necessitate a longer period with everything they had to do. My dog can be difficult with strangers so I was hoping they would be extra patient with him & somehow gain his trust. 2.5 hrs later, I got the call & came for my dog and I was very impressed! Jill greeted me warmly and my dog looked & smelled great! Despite my concerns of my dog getting snippy, she assured me that he was no problem, which let me know right off the bat, she had a lot of experience handling difficult dogs.The cut was as promised & when I got home & examined his paws & nails, I realized how much time she must have spent on trimming nails which were way over due, as well as the hair on his paws which was also let go far too long. They have a price list on their website that I went over later that evening & it all seemed very reasonable. I couldn't be happier with the results and really appreciated that Jill took her time & did it right without cutting any corners! Where do I even begin? To say that T.O.P Dog Health & Wellness has been THE biggest blessing to my dog, Victoria Rose (VR), is an understatement. As someone who has had animals my whole life, loving animals is one thing but keeping them clean in all categories (not just a bath but cleaning their ears, brushing their teeth, clipping/grinding their nails...and especially the nails) has always been a struggle for me to do on a consistent basis. I read a raving review about T.O.P. Dog this past summer and decided to stop by to talk with someone there. I was pleasantly surprised to speak with the owner, Jill, and after one conversation, I was excited to try out her services for VR. My plan was to just try it out one time to see how I liked and how it worked getting VR there (sometimes the cumbersomeness for VR can be a lot with the car ride, excitement of strangers, etc). After VR's first visit though, I was sold on becoming a member of T.O.P. Dog. It wasn't just that VR smelled amazing or that she had on a cute bandana, in just her first visit alone, Jill was able to trim VR's nails significantly with just that one visit, more than I had been able to do in the last year on my own (see photo). She is definitely THE Dog Nail Whisperer :) I knew that if I committed to be accountable by bringing VR in regularly, we could continue to get VR's nails at a healthy length and maintain it. And not just that. VR could finally get regular ear cleanings, teeth brushing, baths, etc. VR also has problem skin and her paws frequently flare up. Jill offers many services at T.O.P. Dog. One in particular is a paw soak. This would be an add on item that I could do at VR's visits as needed (see photos). I decided to try out the paw soaks for a month to see if they would help her paws from flaring up. Done at each visit (weekly), I am happy to report that VR's paws have not flared up once! I appreciate that Jill never tries to sell you on anything, rather sharing her deep knowledge about animals and offers top quality and natural solutions to help out with whatever situation may arise with your dog. With regular visits to T.O.P Dog, Jill is able to monitor VR and any changes she may see on her that is worth bringing to the attention of VR's vet (which so far, Jill has seen two things that I was able to check with the vet about that I had not seen but Jill did and were able to get checked out before becoming a bigger issue). T.O.P Dog has become like family to me because truly, what Jill does for VR each week, has been a game changer. I no longer have to stress about when I am gonna be able to bathe VR, if I would even get to her nails, and the whole mess I create at my house just to get that done. By becoming a member of T.O.P. Dog, Jill has solved this for me and I could not be more grateful for her. It has made pet ownership so much more enjoyable because I don't have the grooming/bathing task looming over my head that I just couldn't do well (or most of the time, have the time to do or want to do). I am proud to share all that I love about T.O.P Dog because if it wasn't for Jill, I know I would still be struggling to keep up with VR's basic hygiene (especially nails) and that was not ok with me. I just didn't know where I could take her that not only could do the job, but where VR would feel comfortable and know they would take good care of her. I posted a project in search of a groomer in the area who would be willing to work with my mom's aggressive/fearful dog, Faith, who was in desperate need of grooming and general care. Jill reached out promptly and worked patiently with me through all my questions, fears/warnings, and scheduling constraints while I planned on my mom's behalf. Jill was so lovely and accommodating, not just to us, but also to Faith. She took necessary safety precautions and breaks with her to eventually put her at ease. Thankfully, Jill was able to address some major matting issues and much needed nail trimming.
