I spent approximately $1,000 at this shop for a new radio, four speakers, a backup camera and installation, and unfortunately I left with a serious concern that other customers should be aware of.
Before leaving home, I placed a small box containing my 360-degree vehicle security camera, its power equipment, accessories and instructions on the front seat of my Ford Explorer. I specifically brought it because I originally intended to ask the shop to install it along with the stereo. Once I learned what the radio and speaker installation was going to cost, I decided I couldn't afford any additional work, so I never asked them to install the security camera.
My Explorer remained with the shop for approximately five to six hours while the work was performed. Afterward, I discovered that the box containing the camera and all of its accessories was missing from the vehicle.
I searched the Explorer thoroughly--under the seats, throughout the passenger compartment and in the cargo area. I also checked at home to eliminate the possibility that I had somehow left it behind. I did not.
I want to be very clear: I did not personally witness an employee take it, so I cannot accuse a specific individual of stealing it. What I can say is that the box was in my vehicle when I brought it to the shop, the vehicle was in their possession while several hours of work were performed, and when I got it back, the box was gone.
I contacted the manager and explained exactly what happened.
After spending roughly $1,000 with a business, I should not have to wonder what happened to personal property that was inside my vehicle. My advice to anyone bringing a vehicle here is simple: remove anything of value before handing over your keys and inventory what is in the vehicle.
The installation is one issue. Trust is another. Once something disappears from a customer's vehicle while it is being serviced, that trust becomes very difficult to restore. read more
