The northern line only has one southern branch. Colliers Wood is two stops before the end so if it common to get a seat. If you get on any train you can then go as far as Kennington where the train splits into the city branch vis Bank or the West End branch via Leicester Square and Charing Cross. May I reccommend not meeting anyone at ground level at this station. It gets realy, really windy. I mean the sortof ill wind to make you catch a cold if you waiting for a little bit. Try arranging t meet in one of the local bars of cafes, not att he station itself. You will get cold.

For how many people pass through daily, I found it clean - especially compared to a public transport stop in Chicago or NYC. As an American, from Wisconsin, I am essentially ignorant as to how public transportation works. But with a little patience and a lot of assistance from Google Maps and politely asking staff or other travelers, it really isn't as crazy as it seems. I feel like there is decent signage, the key is to research ahead of time what platform you are arriving on and where you need to go next. Also, avoiding the work/school rush hours makes it much less intimidating ;)

Even a few pubs, but then again there are lots of pubs in England. Oh, you can like catch the tram here as well, which I think is also pretty good. It is also the terminus of the Wimbledon branch of the District Line of TfL, and of the Tramlink to Croydon, and provides an interchange with the Sutton loop of the Thameslink service via Blackfriars. It is used by 19 million passengers a year on the main line, a similar number on the District Line, and over 2 million on Tramlink. The station opened on the Waterloo to Woking Line in 1838, with the other branches owning over the subsequent 40 years, although the line towards Sutton opened as late as 1929. In 1997 the line to West Croydon was closed for conversion into the Tramlink, reopening in 2000. In 1881 the station was relocated from its original site on the opposite side of the bridge. The station was rebuilt in the Art Deco style in the 1920s. The station has 11 platforms: 1-4 for the District Line terminus, which has its own concourse on the north side of the station (where the toilets are located); 5-8 on the South West main line; 9 for Thameslink services and 10a and 10b for Tramlink. Platforms 6 and 7 are on the fast lines and only used occasionally. All stopping suburban services from Waterloo stop here. Lifts provide step free access to all platforms. The ticket office and concourse are located on the north side of the station adjacent to the staircase to the District Line. There are shop units along the bridge above the platforms selling food, and future shop units on the District Line concourse. We specifically came here because we purchased a Eurostar train ticket to Paris. From arriving, to checking in, going through customs, it was very organized and people paid attention. It wasn't chaos as it tends to get in the US. The whole process to getting on and off the train was a piece of cake-definitely not stressful at all. If you are trying to get to Paris, Amsterdam, or any outer cities near London, this is the place to be when needing to take a train. I highly recommend Eurostar since it is a high speed train and will get you to your next destination fairly quick. If you are not planning to leave the city, I still recommend checking it out since it is a beauty and I heard, Harry Potter was filmed here.

The location is great because if you come in here, you're close to Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Embankment and Leicester Square. There are not too many tracks so it's easy to get your train. We took a Southeastern train to London Bridge here and it was very quick. For connected tube service, you can access the Northern and the Bakerloo lines. It's quite a trek to get to the Bakerloo line but it's nice to have the connections in one place. Also, many bus lines go right be here so it's easy to get a direct ride to this station. While we were staying near Trafalgar Square, this was our most used transit hub.

We greatly appreciated the convenience of the direct Canterbury West to Charing Cross Route and the subsequent short walk to our hotel (at Trafalgar Square) from there. This station is a bit smaller than some of the other transit hub stations (e.g. Paddington, St. Pancras, etc.), which was just fine by us.
