Once I hit adulthood, I guess I thought I'd met my lifetime quota for visits, so I didn't go for a long time. After way too long, I finally got the tip from a co-worker about Dr. Tobin's office. He and his staff were very kind to me, even though the hygeinist had to spend at least 30 minutes giving my teeth the dental equivalent of a sand-blast. Dr. T merely told me that he was pleased that another "dental fugitive" had turned himself in. For years, I returned every 6 months for the next round of pain-free and fuss-free cleanings. Unfortunately, after I switched jobs, Dr. Towbin was no longer covered by my insurance plan, so I went AWOL again. After returning to the old job, I finally (today), tail tucked between my legs, shuffled shyly back into Dr. Towbin's office and was promptly greeted as warmly as before with a friendly joke (and then the sand-blast). After filling was no longer an option, he recommended a crown for it without a root canal. I was hesitant to get it at first, but now that I have it, I LOVE it!! There was absolutely NEVER any pain any of the times I have ever been to him. He and his staff are top of the line in dentistry. His accounting office allowed me to set up payments over 3 months for the crown, since I didn't have dental insurance, without being charged a service fee. Dr. Dietz came in and sarcastically told me I needed a root canal. He immediately sends someone in from billing for scheduling. This woman, who didn't even look at my mouth, checked the calendar for a root canal appointment then proceeded to tell me I had "gingivitis"and attempted to put me on a treatment plan that also entailed a "$450 deep cleaning." This didn't seem right to me, so I held off on scheduling completely. A week later I go to another, REPUTABLE, dentist in the Memphis area for a second opinion, who did confirm the need for a root canal, but said I had not one symptom of gingivitis or "receding gums" that the "billing specialist" claimed I had. No treatment plan was necessary. DentalWorks will make up random issues to tack on to the bill. BEWARE. Also - I've received NUMEROUS letters in the mail about scheduling a new appointment as I'm "overdue for a checkup". I've called the main office several times to cancel this mail, they claimed they did back in January but I've received about 2 a month since then. They will NOT leave me alone.

If you ask them, if they are out of net work, they will tell you that they are, but they negotiate prices with the insurance company that make them comparable to your co-pay. THEY WILL DECEIVE YOU! They know you need to get in because you are in pain. They don't want to loose the money that they are going to over charge you. This is most likely why insurance companies will not keep them in network. When I got in to see this guy, all he could talk about was money, himself, and what a devout Christian he was. This guy needs to be investigated.......
