They fail time and time again to provide the 504 plans for students in a timely manner even with a doctors note stating the student needs to be on the plan. They violate HIPAA laws and the privacy of these students. Don't even get me started on the Joke they call a principal. They lie and discriminate against those students protected by the ADA act. They're quick to call CPS on parents of the disabled because they aren't equipped with the right training to teach behavioral skills to those who need it. Non Verbal children cannot communicate their needs through oral communication. Negligence runs high in their walls. they've even "misplaced" and lost children who are elopers. When they should have had a one on one AID with them the whole time! DO NOT send your children to Ysabel Barnet if they are disabled. Your children will suffer for it! Instead of providing engaging instruction, many classes consisted of students watching YouTube videos that still left all the kids confused. My child left this school feeling unprepared academically and emotionally. The trauma my daughter experienced here is something our family is still dealing with. She is now in middle school, and she has repeatedly said she would never want anyone else to go through what she experienced at this school. Based on our experience, I strongly urge parents to look elsewhere. No school is perfect, but this was indeed the worst experience our family has ever had. A final sign of an exceptional teacher is a love for teaching and truly caring about students - which she clearly does.
