I hired Tony Mottram in March 2024, for a bathroom renovation and paid £9,915. The work was left incomplete, and I had to take him to Prestatyn Justice Centre - Small Claims court due to a leaking shower tray, broken toilet flush, leaking toilet, badly siliconed areas, permanent marker on the cupboard fronts, etc. It is a mess. He could have rectified any of this, but chose to completely ignore me for the best part of a year. On 20 Aug 2025, the judge ordered him to repay me £4,487.59, but he has failed to pay by the legal deadline, and I am now forced to escalate to High Court enforcement as he clearly thinks he is exempt from adhering to the law. I also question whether he is genuinely VAT registered (no VAT shown on my quote) or insured (no legal support at court). In my opinion, he appears to be operating on a shoestring, which should concern vulnerable customers who may not have the means to fight him legally when it all goes wrong. Other individuals have contacted me since I started building my claim with similar experiences to mine. He claims someone is leaving bad reviews maliciously when they are inevitably left and gets them removed, but understand these are real reviews and it's important everyone knows what they are dealing with if they engage him. We needed a complete renovation of our bathroom. It was old, very tired looking and had issues with drainage. We instructed Tony to design and fit a new bathroom earlier this year. His attention to detail was exceptional. We had to wait for him to start the work as he was fully booked but can honestly say it was well worth the wait. During the course of the works he discovered the cause of a number of ongoing issues that we were experiencing and rectified them expertly. He listened to our requirements and advised us as to the best way forward and we are certainly glad we took his advice. He is very knowledgeable and his advice was invaluable. His tiling is immaculate. We had a new shower unit with insert tiled shelf, wall fitted toilet with insert tiled shelving above. Washbasin with storage unit, illuminated bathroom mirror, a wall mounted storage unit, new extractor fan and ceiling lighting. We also had new flooring fitted. The finish was excellent on all aspects of his work. Any queries we had were answered. There was a small problem with the valve on the shower which wasn't down to Tony but a fault with the valve. Tony replaced it and ensured we were happy with the end result on all the work he had done. We are absolutely delighted with our new bathroom and have had some lovely compliments about it.
