Dr. Toni is the best! My kids have been coming here for the last 7 years. She is wonderful with the kids - friendly, patient, and reassuring. And she's great with parents too! She's extremely responsive even when we can't make it into the office. We have had to email her during two different overseas trips with dental questions. She walked us through it, gave us her best opinion, and saw us as soon as we returned from our trip. read more

My 3 kids from ages 16, 14, and 9 years old have been with Dr. Toni Chen for all their lives. Each visit is always greeted and assisted by a friendly admin team. After each dental check-up, Dr. Toni always takes time to discuss each child's current dental status very thoroughly and has genuine concerns if more care is required. I love this practice, because whenever I need to switch my kids' dental appointments, they always are courteous and helpful. They are truly professional and personal. I would highly recommend Dr. Toni Chen to everyone in the San Marino, San Gabriel, Arcadia, Pasadena, and Alhambra vicinities!! read more

My son was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, and is very sensitive and reserved about who touches his mouth. He has had bad experiences with past dentists who were not patient, causing him to be terrified of dentists. Our experience with Dr. Chen was amazing! The whole staff was welcoming, patient, and professional. My son had such a great experience! I highly recommend Dr. Toni Chen! read more

Dr Chen's office is great! They have taken precaution in keeping their office safe during the Covid outbreak. Taking temperatures before exam and social distancing. I have four children who come to Dr Chen and we always have a great appointment. Dr. Chen and her staff take their time to inform you of issues and concerns that may arise and are great explaining to my kids the importance of their dental hygiene. read more

I visited Dr Chen today for the first time with my 8 and 6 year old boys. I was thoroughly impressed with our experience and the office. Dr Chen's knowledge, professionalism and staff all exceeded my expectations. My kids felt comfortable and were cared for with kindness. We will be back! read more

I had been taking my children to another pediatric dentist who resides on the same street as Dr. Toni...I won't say who that Dr. is... and noticed that the level of care had been dropping over the years. The warm & friendly family atmosphere from this family established practice was gone. I also noticed a drop-off in the level of care. So I decided to make a switch to Dr. Toni and I am so glad I did! Dr. Toni's office was DRAMATICALLY different from the previous practice we went to. Dr. Toni is a highly skilled dentist and she has the magic touch with my children. She has made the office such a warm and inviting place for my children. read more

My children went to another pediatric dentist previous to us knowing Dr. Chen and we were very disappointed. All the previous horrific crying dental appointments were miraculously erased by Dr. Chen. Once you go in her clinic, the ambience is very child friendly, warm and happy. There is a cute children 'theatre" room where my girls were immediately attracted to walk in and just feel at home watching TANGLED. There are many favorite toys and books in the patient waiting lounge and immediately the fear of going to a doctor's office is effectively relaxing. We were greeted by very friendly smiles from each staff and the hygienist reinforced why brushing and flossing was very important and educated the proper brushing method to my girls. She then guided my eldest daughter to the dental chair and took x-rays. It was done in a matter of minutes and had I not taken a peek and what was going on, I would not have known the x-ray was being taken! This to me is a BIG plus. Our previous dental x-rays was just tearful to her and my daughter kept gagging on the xray plates. Next, the hygienist informed my daughter she was going to clean her teeth and I really liked the fact that she introduced each tool she was going to use. She would use very children friendly terms with the saliva vacuum calling it a "straw" and she would ask my daughter to feel the sensation on her hand first and next the water/ air spray and feel it on her hand. Having little kids feel that it's really nothing puts away the fear of what will be put in her mouth. Finally the dentist, Dr. Chen! She is not only pretty but extremely friendly and would distract my daughter during the entire session. She would distract my daughter that she is using her princess mirror to count how many princess teeth my daughter has even though she is really checking if there is plaque build up or cavities. It was a breeze and before you knew it, the session was finished. My daughter anticipated the favorite part of running to the prize box to pick a price reward for doing such a good job. We left the office needing to do some more work this week but the experience was so positive that Tiffany was actually counting the days for the next visit! It's really quite unbelievable but true! So today was the nervous day for me thinking she was going to go through anesthesia shots and cavity fills and she was going to cry. But somehow, it was so skillfully applied that Tiffany didn't feel a thing when she was finished! I was standing outside b/c I was afraid that there was going to be some drama from the anesthesia shot and I let Dr. Chen do her magic and sure enough she sealed her permanent teeth and performed her cavity fills and the 45 minute went by quickly. My husband nervously called after the appointment and talked to Tiffany "did it hurt?" and she looked very confused and said "what daddy? the dentist was only polishing my teeth to make sure I have nice and beautiful princess teeth! She's just making me more pretty like her!" I don't usually write so lengthy reviews but I feel that this is something that needs to be shared. For all those who have those anxieties with taking your children to the dentist, you've got to take them to see Dr. Chen. For those who don't have anxiety with dental appointments, seeing Dr. Chen will only bring it more positive. My daughters are now brushing very hard every day and the experience has reinforced to them that brushing is very important. The experience difference was so huge that I have nothing but positive things to say about this. We won't wait one year anymore for the dental appointments. We'll be sure to be back in 6 months. read more

Dr. Toni and her staff are amazing! We've been seeing her for about a year when my 3 yr old chipped his front tooth. We came in to the office to have it checked and we were given instructions to watch it. The tooth ended up with an abscess. We were able to call and get in same day for an extraction. They are so gentle and kind with my son. read more

I really enjoy this dental office that specializes in pediatrics. The office is calming and staff are nice. The office is clean. Dr Chen is super nice and takes her time with each patient. I really enjoy walking into her practice where it is calming. I have been to others where there may be a lot of patients waiting but its more chaotic and stress inducing and the wait time is long. Here you walk in and you are usually seen within 10 minutes. read more

This review is long overdue. We are moving and now I'm faced with finding a new dentist for my 3-year-old. I know I will not find anyone as fantastic as Dr. Chen. My son saw Dr. Chen for his initial check up early last year. The office is clean, the staff is friendly, and my son loved the toys in the waiting area. Dr. Chen met with me and my husband to discuss oral care and exactly what would occur at the visit. I thought my son would panic in the chair, but she put him at ease and gave him a quick exam. Fast forward a few months later: My son fell and knocked one of his teeth loose. We were able to make an appointment for that day. She clearly explained what could potentially happen in the coming weeks with his tooth. I'm glad she didn't just send us on our way because it abscessed and when I saw it, I knew exactly what it was. Thanks to our earlier visit with Dr. Chen, I knew to look for the abscess and I was able to spot it before it became painful. We took him in right away and she let us know our options for treatment. The tooth had to be extracted and I was heartbroken. I couldn't bear the thought of my little boy going through an extraction and his toothless smile for years to come. She had an appointment available that day and I respect that she didn't rush me into it. I think some dentists would have simply stated that the tooth needed to come out and tried to pressure us into doing it while we were there. Dr. Chen told me me to take the time I needed to make the decision and to call the office when we decided on the treatment option. I considered a second opinion, but after consulting Dr. Google, I knew she'd made the right recommendation. I scheduled the extraction. Extraction day: She explained exactly what it would entail, including the fact that they would have to restrain my son in a papoose board. She allowed one parent in the treatment room and kindly suggested that it be my husband (the calmer parent). The procedure was as quick and painless as it could be. Of course, my son cried (so did I). The office called later that afternoon to see how he was doing. He was perfectly fine by the afternoon and it hasn't bothered him since. Bottom line: Dr. Chen is great with kids and neurotic parents. read more

Dr Toni is a hard worker and her staff are very nice. She is very good with kid and she makes my boys feel safe. That is still the same. Unfortunately, I had to make a hard decision to go to another dentist because I had to keep coming back for my son to fix fillings that came off. It came off 3 times until I decided that's enough. I changed dentist a while ago and never updated my review until now. I am not one to leave negative reviews that affect people's business negatively. I believe some things that work for some may not work for others. Wish her all the best. read more

Just came back from my son's semiannual checkup. Dr. Chen and her staff were awesome (as usual)! Dr. Chen took the time to answer ALL of my questions. She was patient and attentive. On the administrative side, they kept me up to date with reminders for the appointment. My son has been seeing Dr. Chen for the past 4 years, and we have been really happy with her service, knowledge, and experience. Highly recommend Dr. Chen. read more

We took our toddler here for her very first dentist check up with Dr. Toni Chen and we are so happy we did. She took the time to sit with us and discuss all the basics of preventative care with advice and tips on how to deal with a toddler who hates getting their teeth brushed! Dr. Chen is super friendly and easy to talk to. You can tell she is a really wonderful pediatric dentist (just look at all the 5 star reviews from everyone!) Her staff is really friendly as well! There's a kids waiting area filled with books and toys which is great at keeping my kid busy. At the end after her checkup, Dr. Chen even had a prize box that my daughter got to pick a toy from! Later that night, we tried the tips Dr. Chen offered on how to brush her teeth successfully, and our daughter totally cooperated! read more

My 2 yr. old had an accident and injured her front tooth. We were referred to Dr. Chen and she was able to see us the next morning and saved the day! Honestly, she made us feel so comfortable. She was very patient, thorough and explained everything. The whole experience was great. The staff was very nice and the office is so kid friendly and clean. read more

Dr. Toni, her staff and office are just wonderful. Our son got his first teeth at only 10 weeks old -- earlier than our pediatrician had ever seen! And unfortunately, being that he was our first pancake, our son also got a number of cavities rather early. Apparently, his teeth are susceptible to tooth decay and we weren't brushing well enough. :-( Dr. Toni was so kind to us, while also educating us on how to do better. She put us all more at ease. Dr. Stafford, the anesthesiologist, took the time to talk with us over the phone and answer all our questions on two occasions before our son's tooth was pulled -- and we were able to watch part of the procedure. Since then, regular checkups are a breeze. Our little guy looks forward to going! He loves the toys, prizes, the dental assistants and Dr. Toni. When he is fighting brushing his teeth at home, I remind him that "Dr. Toni says we must brush your teeth, remember?" And that actually gets him to do it! I highly recommend Dr. Toni. Look no further for a great pediatric dentist. :-) read more

I'm going to keep this short since my previous review was too wordy. Excellent for your children. Dr. Chen is trained and understands child psychology and how to divert his/her attention from the negative atmosphere that is of the dentist office. Dr. Chen is excellent in this regard...making children feel comfortable. Office/floor plan is excellent and well designed for children...very well thought out. Special note: My daughter (5 y.o.) is stubborn and defiant, so she needed general sedation. Dr. Stafford, the anesthesiologist, is excellent. Well trained in dealing with children. Excellent, quality work from staff and all doctors involved with my daughter's 5 root canals. The bad news: My 2 y.o. son might need general sedation, too. read more

Dr Chen is the only pediatric dentist we have used and have been going to her for over six years. She is so awesome! I would never go anywhere else, the office and facilities are always clean, the staff are all knowledgeable, friendly and do great work. This is the only dentist you want for your children! Their work is top rate and you NEVER have to worry about them pushing unnecessary services so they can pad the insurance bill. If I could give more than five stars, I would. read more

Our experiences with Dr Chen over the past 5 years have been consistently wonderful. Both of my children (ages 6.5 & 2.5) care about their oral hygiene thanks to Dr Chen's polite demeanor and easy-to-follow instructions for better oral health. My son has seen Dr. Aneri and my daughter has seen Dr. Toni. Both dentists and experiences were amazing. My son needed some fillings, an extraction and spacer put in with Dr. Aneri and she did so great with him. She made sure to make him feel comfortable which definitely kept him from being nervous or afraid. My daughter is 3 and autistic. So I was really worried as she has never been cooperative at the dentist before. Which actually put us off of trying to go again for a year. But after my son had a great experience here I figured we would give it a try. Dr. Toni and her assistant have been amazing with her. They have even worked out a schedule for us to do mini visits to get my daughter used to the routine of going to the dentist. They never push her with more than she can handle or is comfortable with. We really appreciate the consistency they've provided us with to make my daughter feel more comfortable. Highly recommend them for any kiddos who might have special needs or be anxious about going to the dentist. read more

Andrew went back back for his check up. He was felling leery and nervous for his previous experience of needing tooth extraction. Liz was kind and firm with managing his urge to cry. The whole process went smoothly and quickly. He did not even have enough tears to roll down his cheek. He was excited about the goodie bag. Dr. Chen completed the visit with Andrew being a happy child. He did not want to leave at the end because of the cool games offered in the Kids Clubhouse. Thank you everyone for making his follow up visit a positive one. read more

Been bringing our boys to Dr. Chen's office for several years now. A few months ago, my older son attempted a reverse dunk on a kiddie basketball hoop and face-planted on our hardwood. He front tooth got bent in a bit with some swelling around the gum. Not knowing what to do, we left a v/m to Dr. Chen's office hoping to get a call back the next day. She called back to us within the hour! Disclaimer, there is never any agreement or understanding she provides oncall service and neither did we expect it. However, she took the time to listen to the v/m and call back which meant the world to us. She offered to see him the following day and the tooth actually straightened itself over night! read more

I'm in a tough place. I'm a retired dentist and my grandsons need to find a pediatric dentist. And, I don't know anyone in this part of town. So I went with my daughter for the grandson's first visit with a new dentist besides me. Fantastic! Dr.Chen does everything and more. A very professional and clean office with the best of high tech. Her recommendations were perfect and both boys loved going to her office. read more

Awesome friendly dentist. Toni gave my wife and I a lot of ideas and tips on our 3 yrs old boy.

This is a very belated review because the last time I took my daughter to this office was in 2015. I'd been taking her to Dr. Chen for a couple years and seen her throughout her pregnancy and thought she was a nice lady. But, you don't really know someone until you see them handle a conflict. When my work changed our dental plan, I notified them and they told me that it should be fine. When we arrived for the appointment, the front desk told me that she hasn't checked my coverage yet but stated that she didn't think it was a problem and told my daughter to go ahead and get her visit done. When the visit was almost done, the front desk then told me that they actually didn't accept my new insurance. I was very annoyed that this information was given to me as the procedure was being done when I allowed them plenty of time to check on my coverage. When I voiced my concern she was very dismissive. She told me that I have to pay full price and gave me some ridiculous price. When the dentist came out and I explained the whole thing, she didn't even apologize for the mishap let alone offer any discount when asked. She showed a very different side when it came to money and my perception of her totally changed because of this incident. I think this is bad practice on her part because she lost a good client as I used to give many referrals working as an educational specialist. I hope Dr. Chen as a mother now has more life experience and practices a more ethical approach in dealing with her clients. read more

Great office, friendly knowledgeable staff. Def a good place for smaller children.

When I found out from my dentist that my 3 year old daughter had to have general anesthesia for some dental work, I flipped. I searched long and hard for a pediatric dentist whom we and our daughter would feel comfortable with. We were blown away by Dr. Chen. She was the ONLY dentist who was willing to allow us to visit our daughter during the procedure. She took a great amount of time with my husband (who took our daughter in for the initial visit) and then when I called with some additional questions, Dr. Chen spent 30 minutes on the phone with me to go over everything she told my husband plus answer my questions. She was super friendly, upbeat, encouraging, and put me at ease on the day of the procedure. I came in crying and she and her staff comforted me and took great care of ME while also treating my daughter!! The procedure went beautifully and we were all so happy with the results. By the way, her anesthesiologist, Dr. Stafford, is also awesome. Dr. Chen and her team are amazing and you cannot go wrong with them. read more
