First cleaning and dental exam. No tears, just a lot of curious questions which the staff answered with care and patience.

Dr. Hwang and his staff are terrific! It seems as thought they really care about their patients. Carmen took her time to explain all the tools and procedures so my 4 yo felt comfortable. I also really love that they respect parents concern about exposing your children to x-rays. 5 stars all the way

Great doctor and staff! I brought my 3.5yo twins for their first dental visits recently. Dr Tony said the goal was to "count their teeth" which is a general inspection. And anything else would be gravy. He kept emphasizing wanting to create a great and relaxed experience for them. It's really nice. ---first they relax the kids with toys and games in the waiting room. The hygienist comes out and talks to them and warms them up to her- which is great. --then they got to pick a movie to watch on the TV on the ceiling. (Frozen, of course) --then they get the fish that looks like Nemo wearing dentures to cuddle and use as a visual aid. :-) --dr tony comes over and chats with them and makes them laugh. He got my L so relaxed she made it through a full cleaning! My C was having a great time until it was her turn and she panicked and screamed until outside for a good 15 minutes. First it was to leave that place, then it was because her sister got a toy and she didn't. (They did give her a toothbrush, which was nice considering). --so I was nervous about taking C back after that. I waited a few weeks and we went without a sister along. (We did not get charged for the last visit for C even though it was pointless.) They repeated all the niceness and guess what!? She made it all the way through!! The bribe of an extra Frozen sticker helped too. ;-) I was so relieved and grateful that my girls had such a nice first dental experience overall. I highly recommend Dr. Tony's office!!! PS- free parking in back as well as street.

Carmen did a great job helping my four year old get comfortable in what is a scary experience for most kids.

Dr. Joe (Little Crown Pediatrics Dentist). As a long, loyal patron of your dentistry,…read moreunfortunately, I must let you go as my son's dentist. I understand customers are a dime a dozen, they come and go. I can say that with dentistries as well. As a person with dental insurance, it is easy to shop around for another dentist for my son. I was a loyal customer for the last 12 years since my son was first able to get dental work done. He is now almost 16. It's probably not a big deal losing 1 customers. I had a bad experience today when I called in to see if I could change my son's appointment. I live in LA, I work in Long Beach, my son goes to school in LA, and we travel to South Pasadena for his cleanings and dental work with Dr. Joe. I always try and get the last appointment for the day for my son as I don't want him to miss school, I also need to take 1-2 hours off early to travel from Long Beach to LA to pick up my son from school and then to South Pasadena to make the afternoon's appointment. I called in today to see if I could do a last minute change from Thursday (4/25/2024 - see the picture of the card I received 6 months ago) to tomorrow, Wednesday, 4/24/2024 because LAUSD had a day off, I also took the day off for another reason so both my son and I would be free if there was an availability tomorrow. Come to find out, the lady who picked up the phone today said that I did not have an appointment in the books for 4/25/2024 and that she could not find an appointment. I mentioned a few times to her I have this card in my appointment book for 4/25/2024 at 430pm and inquired on why there was no appointment. After a bit of back and forth, she said that everyone that was scheduled for 4/25/2024 was contacted and notified that the doctor would not be in. I asked her again, who was the person to notify me because I did not get any notifications (luckily I called today to inquire about a date change or else I would have showed up Thursday for an appointment I did not have). She then said that Dr. Joe would not be in Thursday and that I could book another appointment with her and that everyone was notified (apparently not everyone). I left it at that and hung up (she did sound irritated) but I left it at that. After hanging up the phone, I called my primary dentistry and was able to book my son for a Saturday appointment and insurance information would be completed when I came in. I called Dr. Joe's line back and advised the same lady on the phone that I was not too happy with the cancellation, and she stated that I could just rebook with her for another date, I never received an apology from her for the no notification of the cancellation for 4/25/24. I mentioned to her that I did not need to rebook anymore and that I would be taking my son elsewhere moving forward. I was loyal for many years, but unfortunately, I have to take my money somewhere else. I felt like she was irritated and condescending towards the end of the conversation before we hung up. Phone conversations today took place around 4-430pm. Good luck Dr. Joe, you're one of the nicest pediatric dentists out there.

My daughter had previously been seeing another dentist, and for years it was difficult getting her to feel comfortable to cooperate during dental visits (yes, years!). During that time, she developed a severe dental infection, so I began searching for a second opinion and that's when we found this office. Dr. Sun and her team was incredibly patient and compassionate while working with my daughter. Although the treatment process was not easy, they took the time to help my daughter feel comfortable and gradually build confidence during her visits. The calm and supportive approach made a huge difference. My daughter still doesn't love dental work (what kid does?), but she is willing to return to see Dr. Sun and her team and I think that says a lot about the trust they built with her. The office is a bit of a drive for us, but it is absolutely worth it and we will definitely continue coming here.

It's bright, welcoming, and filled with little touches that immediately put children (and parents!) at ease. The entire staff is incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. They took the time to explain everything and made sure my son felt safe and comfortable at every step. What truly stood out to me was how calm and confident the team was, especially given that this was my son's very first dental appointment at just one year old. They handled him with so much warmth and care that the experience felt stress-free and even enjoyable. Dr. Sun is absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, gentle, and clearly passionate about working with kids. She has such a reassuring presence and took the time to answer all of my questions while making sure my son was comfortable the entire time. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients and their families. This office sets the gold standard for pediatric dental care. If you're looking for a place where your child will feel happy, safe, and well cared for, this is it. We're so grateful to have found them and look forward to many years of positive visits ahead!

I had my deep cleaning done by a hygienist name Arrika/ Areka (I may be misspelling her name). She is the sweetest lady who made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Previously, I had a deep cleaning done on my left side with an Asian female who did not communicate as much. Instead of telling me to turn my head slightly towards her she just moves my chin and she didn't talk me through the process of what she's going to do. This time I had a deep cleaning done on my right side with Arrika/ Areka- who verbalized every step which made me feel more at ease. Last time the hygienist used topical anesthesia then went straight to giving me the injections and proceed right into the cleaning procedure which explains why I felt sensitive & discomfort during the cleaning. I don't think she provided enough topical anesthesia or she didn't give it enough time to take effect - & I felt the injection & medication going in. This time, I had a pleasant & much better experience thanks to Arrika. She made me feel comfortable & checked in with "are you okay" from time to time. I didn't feel any pain or sensitivity because she was thorough with the numbing process. We waited till I felt numb after the injections to start cleaning. She was very considerate because I have eye lash extensions which gets smooshed by the goggles, she rolled up some gauze put it near my nose bridge and that helped a lot- I could actually open up my eyes. She's considerate because she cleans a small section then rinse & suction. I didn't get that treatment with the other hygienist because I remembered I almost aspirated because she kept cleaning & didn't suction and I had to swallow cause there was too much particles accumulating in my mouth. I'm grateful for the careful attention and consideration she showed to ensure my comfort throughout the procedure. She truly shows that she cares for her patients. She informed me after the treatment to not eat anything chewy until the numbness wears off, to rinse with warm salt water if I felt sore, and I shouldn't eat spicy food for at least 2 days as it's healing.

Usually I come in every 6 months and I fill out a reminder card which is usually sent to me ahead of my next appointment. But the past few times I have not received a card in the mail so when my appointment is due I'm not able to plan for it. Edna usually does the scheduling and working with her has gotten progressively difficult. Usually she can put me on a waiting list and call a day before to confirm, but this time she said I had to call to confirm. This is fine but I questioned why she couldn't call as usual, and she just gave a non-answer ending with "whatever". I couldn't believe the disrespect! Edna has never apologized for the inconvenience (even in the past), knowing that it's usually very difficult to reschedule. Appointments can be weeks to months out (there is only one hygienist left). Anyway I'll miss having Dr. Chu as my dentist but I won't tolerate anymore the attitude Edna has displayed toward me the past few years. Good luck
