We are always looking for a new place to take our Italian family. At 101, 94, and 91, they can be very selective. They enjoyed the food, the service AND the show! So we will be back. The family enjoyed the shrimp, and noodles. We had chicken and steak with rice. Everything was well cooked and our cook was very entertaining and proficient. The place is comfortable and clean. We sat at the hibachi, but the rest of the seating areas looked nice. We will be back!! read more

I went here on Saturday. The lighting could have been a little brighter. We were seated. My mother ordered the shrimp and I ordered shrimp and chicken with noodles. The service was slow. The server only came by once within twenty minutes. She got us our drinks. Then the food came. It was warm. Could have been hotter. The flavor, overall, was good. read more

So, I came back to try the hibachi.... Which was not very good. I didn't even take a picture. The scallops and shrimp were good, but the veggies and rice lacked flavor. There was also only one hibachi chef so we had to wait quite awhile. However, the sushi is still amazing! I had the lollipop roll as an appetizer and as usual the fish was fresh and delicious. So, I think Tonbo is great for sushi, but I won't have hibachi again. Also important to note on this visit, the bathroom was not very clean and one toilet was completely clogged. Not what you want to see walking in the bathroom. read more

First time visiting this spot. We had a party of 4. It wasn't overly busy at 5:30 pm on a Saturday, but we we're definitely an inconvenience for our waitress. Had to ask for everything twice...when she magically reappeared. We ordered a spicy tuna roll and standard tuna roll. Both were great. The fish was fresh and wasabi nasal passage opening strength. Our table chef Maui was great! I'm addition to being skilled at cooking on the large flattop, he was hilarious. Another group at our table had their young daughter with them. Her reactions to Maui's cooking antics were priceless. We all enjoyed our selections. A little confusion at the end when scallops one us ordered were given to the wrong person in our party was easily fixed. Would have been a bigger deal had they gone to the other group at the table, lol. We'll probably be back. read more

We've given this place a second chance. Our service was great but the place is dirty. The bottle of soy sauce was disgusting. The menu's are atrocious. I cannot imagine giving those menus. Not sure how they're staying open because there are so few people. My chicken was so overdone I couldn't eat but two pieces. So terrible I couldn't believe it. read more

We're new to the area and we're in the area so we decided to stop at Tonbo for sushi but ended up ordering the teppanyaki dinner date for two. The food did not disappoint. Good amount for each of us and excellent taste. We will be back again. read more

Their sushi is amazing! I just recently moved to this area and was looking for a sushi restaurant closer than my favorite ,Sushi Alive. Tonbo definitely is a close second to Sushi Alive. I'm giving it 4 stars because the Hibachi was disappointing. I wouldn't go back for Hibachi but will be back for sushi. read more

To start, I'm a sushi fanatic and I always love trying new sushi places. Fiance suggested Tonbo as we were nearby so we stopped in. The reviews were a mixed bag and most of the negative ones were about the service not the food so we decided to give it a try. I ordered three rolls (The Paper Crane, The Tuna Trio, and the Florida) and two of the nigiri (Tuna). I enjoyed the nigiri, but the rolls tasted off. I told the waitress that something was off about them and she went and got the manager. He then told me that they'd served sushi "all day" with no complaints, but that he would "see what he could do". I ate exactly one peice of each roll so it's not like I had eaten the majority of them and then said that they were gross. He ended up taking two of them off the bill, but honestly lost my business after that poor handling. My fiance got the hibachi chicken and filet and he enjoyed his meal. He also got the tempura chicken roll and really liked that. He's willing to return, but I won't be joining him unless it's just for drinks because the tigerlilly martini was fabulous. read more

We came here for the first time for my husband's birthday. Upon arrival the greeter was nice. As we followed her to our table I noticed that although it looked like they wiped the tables down there were still areas that had pieces of rice etc. I was turned off right off the bat but my husband insisted we sat down. Once sitting, I set my elbow in the table to look at the menu but the table was super sticky. I had to go the bathroom to wash my arm since it was sticky. As we were waiting for our cook I looked around and saw little pieces of food on the walls. I was so done after that but my husband really had his heart set on trying the food so I stayed. The food? It actually was not bad. The cook was nice and so was the staff. If they would only give the place a thorough cleaning they would've gotten a solid 4 stars out of me. Cleanliness is important. How can I trust it is clean in the kitchen where we cannot see, when it is not clean where we can see. The food was fine. The place needs a cleaning. Until then I won't be going back. read more

They started us with the salad that was old and browning. No tomato, cucumber or carrot shavings like the table next to me got , people coming in after us got served before us. The manager had a snippy, snippy snippy attitude that you want to say bye-bye you're fired!! Food was bland. read more

We ordered take out habachi and sushi. Stayed for a wine and beer while we waited. The bartender was super unfriendly - maybe the person had a bad day so we gave the benifit of the doubt. When we politely asked about the beer and wine the place offered the individual scoffed - we paid it no mind- again maybe it was a bad day for that person. However, when we asked for a second drink he was rushing us out saying that our food should already be done. We were in absolutely no rush after a long day, the place wasn't busy so again we paid the rushing no mind. We cashed out when he brought our order over - it really felt like this person had better things to do. Long story short the food was so so. The sushi rice had no taste and was soggy. We ended up getting burgers if that tells you anything about the quality for at least that night. read more

OH MY GOODNESS. i would have given this place 5 stars but i couldn't because of the service. But the food - I CANT WAIT to go back. I do not live in this area but the prices and the food are SOOO good. We had so much to eat and everything was fresh and tasteful. The waitress was nice but we were barely attended the whole night. we were there a good 1 1/2 hours ALL WAITING... the food was worth the wait but it was still bad. The location was completely empty, we were the only table in the area we were in and had to get up to remind them to bring sauces for appetizers , for the check, then to pay the check, it was pretty bad. Luckily we were visiting from out of town so we had a lot to talk about but had it been a regular night , i personally wouldn't go back. I'm sure we will stop by next time we go up so hopefully the service is better. appetizers we got the pork gyozas, vegetarian spring rolls and sashimi sampler, REALLY good. food we got the scallop nigiri, eel roll, volcano roll (was told this was their best seller) and the florida roll (1 tempura and 1 regular). everything was AMAZING. read more

This is your standard teppanyaki place. They have standard dining on one side and teppanyaki on the other. Service was friendly. Chef did nothing flashy but made you feel like you were a regular. Sushi: Spicy tuna roll - it was ok. Was definitely not bad but there was nothing special about it. Teppanyaki: delicious. The rice and vegetables were delicious. Above average for this kind of place. The meats were ok. Nothing amazing. I'd return maybe. Dunno. read more

The place needs a thorough cleaning. Early bird deal was good and food was okay, but the greasy floor and walls needs major help.

Passed by it countless times, but never went in. Finally went there with the wife and were pleasantly surprised in how big it was inside! It's actually a hibachi also! Never would have guessed it since it's in a strip mall. We got their late, so the hibachi wasn't an option for us. Food was REALLY good with a different type of ginger dressing that I never had before. It was awesome! A bit pricy for the sushi rolls, but the quality makes sense. Will definitely be back for the hibachi and delicious hand rolls. Highly recommended if in the area. read more

Tonbo - Forgot the name, bit it was really good! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Port Richey, Florida

The food here is always a 10/10 we get the hibachi dinner with steak and shrimp always cooked perfectly and our other favorite is the crab-Rangoon seriously the best in the area! Jay always give excellent service making us laugh ! Nice seating area love to go there for special events such as anniversaries or Valentine's Day. read more

There were 8 of us in a party for a Sunday lunch, and we were seated pretty quickly. We were the first family in the Hibachi area, and pretty quickly after that there were several other parties. As it became busier, there was less and less attention to our table. The Hibachi chef was absolutely wonderful. He made us laugh a whole lot, was very happy and friendly, did an exceptional job! I loved how he was basically putting on a show for us, and it was a blast. Now, onto the food...I opted for the shrimp lunch with noodles, and I had 3 kids with me ages 13 and under who opted for steak with rice. Well, the food was gross. There was no flavor, it was bland, and just not good. The noodles tasted like wet cardboard, the veggies all tasted the same instead of their own flavors, the shrimp was over cooked and no flavor. I was disappointed. The salad before the food was hard for me to eat, because the ginger dressing was thick and gritty and not delicious. The Yum-Yum sauce was as though a yogurt/pudding consistency and when I put my shrimp into it, it just put a dent into the pudding-like yum-yum sauce and nothing on the shrimp. Disturbing. The only thing I would come back for, would be the chef. Definitely nothing else. I would've put a 1 star if it wasn't for him. I never even received a refill on any of our drinks. read more

Well Tonbo used to be a favorite. The food is good and the chefs are great. Service is always fine. I have to say though, the cleanliness of this place is abhorrent. From the tables which are sticky to the greasy dirty menus to the dirty silverware, glasses, and plates, I just can't anymore. I can only imagine what it looks like in the kitchen. read more

If I could leave a review with 0 stars I would. This place is so filthy I can't even believe they are still open. The bathroom is so dirty it must have at least a half inch of dirt in the top rails of the stalls. The floors are so dirty the are going to have to scrape them to get them clean. They have had tons of violations if you look them up for health and safety. I can't believe they are still doing business and the county hasn't shut them down. read more

Food was amazing! Me and my friend sat at the bar and the bartender that took care of us was really nice and patient. We ordered the boat for 2 and the sushi was phenomenal! Highly recommend! Also we ordered the sake flights and the strawberry one...just get the bottle. It is so good. read more

I've been to this place countless times. The sushi is very good quality and it always comes out really quickly. I've had the hibachi here several times, at the grill and table, it's amazing either way. The chefs are always really talented and funny, most of them have worked there for a long time and are known by the regulars. Most of staff has been there for years and are very friendly and professional. Out of all the times I've been here I have never had a problem. I 100% recommend this place if you're looking for good sushi or hibachi, definitely the best in the area. read more

I love this place. The food is so good the sushi chef "yum yum" is a funny. And his side kick "50cents", make it such a fun experience.

My "tip" contains most of my review here. I will add that this was the best food we had in the area for the best value served by the friendliest, most attentive, yet discreet wait staff. Using the happy hour bargains, we had 3 special sushi rolls, lettuce wraps, 2 salads, and 4 :-) sake-tinis for $38.00 before tip!!!! See our photos. We were seated in the sushi area vs the hibachi area but could see the fanfare and enjoyment. We brought back a takeout menu to leave in our condo with high recommendation to visit this great place. read more

We have eaten here no less than 100 times. The food is great, the service isn't great but it's not the end of the world for hibachi since they serve you. BUT the hostess was horrendous. I mean so bad we are considering never returning she was so bad. We have NEVER had to make a reservation, last time (2 days ago) the same nasty hostess said it was highly recommended, today apparently it was a requirement. I asked if that was new and she was very snarky when she said, "We always require a reservation for Hibachi". She never looked up from her paper she was writing in. She didn't greet us. In fact it appeared that our very presence and desire to spend money at this establishment was a total waste of her time. Management needs to retrain or remove her from being in the front of the house. She will ruin this business with her horrible attitude and behavior. Again, great food and amazing chef but the hostess was the worst I have ever experienced. read more

Tonbo - Hibachi - Sushi Bars Near Me - Port Richey, Florida

I have been going to Tonbo since they opened. I have been a cery loyal customer for many years. i was extremely disappointed with my visit last night. There were mats and flys swarming around our tables .myself and others were swatting them away. I watched the table next to me get their food and box it up. That same table that left I watched the busser clear off the plates that were on their table ,put everything on the chair, change the paper tablecloth and put the plates back on the table. Yuck.. We ordered sushi apps and out meals came well before the sushi. I use the app belly for rewards and when I went to scan the code on the iPad the kid said "yea it's broken,it's been charging for days but doesn't work" ok so no rewards. To say I was disappointed and grossed out is an understatement read more
