We came for a wedding reception yesterday. The venue is beautiful. Very spacious and atmospheric. Excellent service. Even the buffet was pretty good. I liked the beef medallions most of all. Great flavor. The only real negative is that the bar closed during food service so make sure you get a drink in time or you have to wait until they reopen. read more

This place is beautiful!!! This review is based off of attending a wedding. The ceremony took place upstairs in a small room with flowers, it was a very welcoming room....but as I said, very small. They can only accommodate about 50 seats. The room was also very warm... So I hope they have air conditioning in the summer months! Moving on to the reception downstairs, it was absolutely beautiful and elegant. It's a big space with upstairs balconies, chandeliers, and large round tables. The food was grand. The fingerfood offered before the meal was the most I have ever seen available... (The selection could have been from the wedding package they chose) but I can promise you, it was plentiful and delicious!! So many selection of cheese, fondue, hummus, vegetables, crackers, bread, fruits, etc. It was awesome. The main meal was serves as a buffet and everything was hot and there were also many selections to choose from. The food was very good in my opinion. The bride told me that the planner was very easy to work with and it was a pleasant experience putting everything together with them for her big day! Overall, it was a great place for a wedding (specifically the reception). I would suggest to take a look here as a venue if you are planning a wedding in the near future! read more

Had a fundraiser there for the third time. The waitstaff is so professional and helpful. The food had many choices and the bartenders were so friendly. The building is gorgeous and plenty of parking on site and across the street. Rooms are all beautifully decorated and the ball room was huge. Can't wait for next year's event. read more

What a beautiful venue. I had the pleasure of attending a wedding here for the 1st time. I loved the architecture, each room showed beautiful original characteristics. The main room was open and spacious which was really nice for a large wedding. The tables were not on top of each other we had plenty of room to move around. I've been here for both a wedding and a fashion show. The space is magical any way they set it up. Staff was very accommodating and gave very clear answers with questions. Would recommend for any event. I was slightly disappointed in the food. I'm not sure if it was the lack of fresh vegetables or the heaviness of the potatoes and alfredo. Beautiful building, but unfortunately the management has some very shady and unethical business practices. They took a $1000 deposit from us, and although are contractually obligated to fulfill an event for over 150 people and cannot under the current NYS Covid regulations, are refusing to give the deposit back. They are saying we missed a payment while NYS was on shut down even though they told us at that point all events were "on hold". I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for any events and whatever you do, don't trust the owner or management team. read more

I attended a wedding reception at Tonawanda Castle and found the food outstanding. The hors d'oeuvres selection included grilled green and yellow squash with herb dressing, grilled asparagus in herb marinade, grilled red peppers, sage Derby cheese, melon and strawberries, and a variety of luscious creative dips. The dinner menu featured an attractive pasta roll with ricotta, spinach and a marinara on the sweet side as I like it; real parmesan mashed potatoes with garlic; beef tenderloin roulette with properly slow-caramelized onions and mushrooms; parmesan risotto stuffed chicken breast with lemon sauce; a roasted vegetable medley with herbed yellow and green squash and asparagus. The beverage table included teapots with 3 kinds of exotic loose tea which could be steeped in an infuser. A carafe of light cream was nearby. A real class act! read more

My husband and I had our wedding at the Castle, and we had a great experience from the very beginning. We loved how spacious the ballroom is, the history of the Castle, and the never-ending rooms throughout the venue! The staff is spectacular! They worked with our needs, and never tried to push add-ons that we didn't need. Jamie, Lindsay, and Rich in particular were some of the staff we worked with, and they were all so kind, helpful, attentive, and patient with us. They answered any and ALL questions that I had (and I asked LOTS of questions!). I love that Rich worked with me to figure out a menu that we liked. He didn't give me choices...he asked what our tastes were, and we even came up with some of our own ideas and he executed them perfectly. The food was excellent and was served right on time. He's an excellent chef, and it's obvious how much he loves his job! We had a LOT of decorations to display at our wedding, and the staff did a beautiful job with our event. It was better than I could have imagined, and they are so creative- they really know their stuff! I just about cried when I walked in on our wedding day!!! I can't thank the staff enough- they made our day so flawless and special. We received compliments from the decor, and the food, and the venue itself. It's a great place for photos as well- it's a freakin' CASTLE!!!! I HIGHLY suggest having your event here- you will be so happy that you did. read more

If I could give the Tonawanda Castle a higher, score, I would! Chef Rich and Lindsay as well as the rest of the Tonawanda Castle staffs has made wedding planning and all things associated easy for me and my family. Not only did Chef Rich catering my wedding and diligently worked with me on creating a menu, he catered my bridal shower that was up at A Gust of Sun Winery in Ransomville. He and his kitchen staff went above and beyond to make sure that I didn't have to fuss over the food. Bobby, who did the entire delivery, was absolutely phenomenal and was timely with his set up and did such a wonderful job. As a bride planning her wedding and all of her events across the country, it is the best feeling to have a staff who is on top of the game and willing to help out despite time differences, travel schedules, and weather related problems. The professionalism, the quality of the service they provide, the welcoming atmosphere from all members of the staff, and the gorgeous venue have made everything a breeze and I couldn't be happier. I am so glad I picked the Tonawanda Castle as the venue for my special day. read more

Huge disappointment! We went to a Beautiful wedding at Shea's. Very classy. 6 piece jazz ensemble and wonderful appetizers in the lobby. We were seated for dinner on the stage and were very excited for the dinner, knowing how the families went all out to make this day perfect. The salad came first and it was lovely. Then came the main course. I can't really even tell you what it was. The Brussels sprouts with red pepper were the only thing edible, except for the very tough stems that were not trimmed off. The "beef" was thin sliced & rolled. It did not taste like any beef I've ever had before. I don't know what they did to it but it was not edible-tough, cold & a flavor I just can't describe. The rolled chicken slices were stuffed with an unidentifiable substance & covered with a sauce that is also unidentifiable. No one at our table of 10 ate their dinner. It's a real shame, because I'm sure the parents paid a hefty fee for Tonawanda Castle Catering to bring a feast to their daughter's most important day. I hope an adjustment to their bill will be made. I would urge couples planning their big day to skip this catering service. Such a huge disappointment. read more

I highly recommend this place!!! I can't say enough about how amazing the staff at the castle are. Lindsay and Jamie were a huge help and they made sure everything went down smoothly. They responded quickly to my many emails and their recommendations worked wonderfully. Rich, you are top notch! I received so many compliments about how beautiful everything was and how the food was outstanding! I never heard of a venue allowing you to choose your own menu, and the fact that you buy everything fresh is what puts you guys at the top of the list. My wedding turned out so much better than I could have imagined it. It was the best wedding I have ever been to, and of course I'm biased because it was my wedding, but multiple quests admitted it was the best wedding they've ever been to as well! I am truly grateful for everything! Plus, they were even a huge help when it came to picking up everything after the wedding. My husband and I were truly and completely impressed!
