I stop in this location occasionally - their beds seem older than other locations. The level 3 bed is lame and looks about 25 years old. I do think it's cool that they have a wax center, but I've never used it. In general, just prefer other locations (Rocky Hill, Wallingford) as equipment seems more up to date. read more

This is the first tanning place I've ever been to and I've only done spray tans, it takes a few tries to get the positions right for an even tan but that's user error for sure. They always are very helpful when I ask questions and even gave me a recommendation for which color is right for my skin at each time of year to look the most natural since I'm a very pale red head. (I use medium clear in the winter and dark clear in the summer and get so many compliments!) Sometimes the machine wouldn't start and I'd have to pop my head out to ask for help and the girls are always really nice and quick to help restart it. I usually come in kind of close to closing like 15 minutes but they always still let me tan and have never seemed annoyed by it. I really like it here and plan to keep coming! I do wish they updated their hours a little better for holidays and things like that but I just call ahead to find out and they let me know. Highly recommend for spray tans. read more

I've been tanning here for years never had a issue until I tried to down grade my level and the kept charging me for level 4 asked to speak to someone they said they were the owner but said I didn't need to know their name was extremely rude said he wasn't refunding me Any money I said that I would appreciate if he did for the misunderstanding of HIS employees and he told me if he heard another word out of my mouth he'd ban me from tanning!! DO NOT GO TO THE WAX CENTER! It is a waste of money. I usually have to get my legs waxed every four weeks but it has only been one and it doesn't even look like I got them done. She did not wax remove the strip from my leg properly which resulted in the hair follicle being snapped and not removed ( similar results to shaving) and an great deal of pain. The tank g salon portion is clean but I would not recommend the wax cent to anyone. read more

I really love coming to Tommy's Tanning!! Their Southington location is always very clean and the staff are always very friendly. I usually come here for spray tanning any options and great quality) but I just recently used their waxing service and had an equally excellent experience! I had a Brazilian wax and the esthetician was beyond professional and made me feel very comfortable! They use hard wax so there was very little pain and the price was unbearable. Terrible service! I have gone here twice and both times the staff acted put off. One of the girls was eating her lunch and just seemed mad I was trying to ask a question about joining. The Versa Spa was messy and there was no hair nets. Again, asking the staff for one was a big deal. read more

I went in last Tuesday to see what my options were and to speak to someone regarding my upcoming tan. The girl I spoke to Tuesday was wonderful. Informative and everything. She advised me to go back on Friday for the spray tan as I had a wedding today (Sunday). That is exactly what I did. I took Friday off to be able to go since I was told I couldn't sweat or anything or wear deodorant. When I walked in there was a girl at the front desk. Very rude. She was actually doing someone's hair as I walked in. She asked for my name and I said this was my first time here and I needed my first spray tan. She gave me a form to fill out and continued to do some other girls hair behind the counter. When I was finished she asked me if I wanted the clear coat or the one with the bronzer in it. I didn't even get a chance to answer and she said well it's hot out so do the clear. I wanted to ask questions but I wasn't given the chance. She lead me into the room and told me what to do. She ran through the positions quickly and as I wanted to ask some questions. She left the room. I did th instructions she gave me and went in. Since it was the clear spray I couldn't see any results. As I left she told me not to shower for 4-6 hours and not to sweat. So I came home and stayed in my AC for the night. About 7 hours later I saw little to no difference. I began to wonder what was going on. I took a shower to see if that would help. Nope!! It didn't. I went to bed thinking the next morning I would wake up with color. Not really. I had a patch on my arm that looked craZy. My coworker saw it and asked what was wrong with my arm. I looked. I was a bronze and orange color. Then I started to look at other parts of my body. I had splotches all over. It was a mess. I called and the girl was pleasant at first but as I explained my situation she got an attitude. I'm thinking it was the girl that I dealt with on Friday. She told me nothing they could do and to call the head office number on Monday and hung up. No apology no nothing. I will NEVER go back again. And today (Sunday) the day of the wedding I had to go to a different salon to have this fixed. Unbelievable. read more

The staff was friendly and helpful and polite which was a nice surprise after my experience at the different location. Super impressed with the knowledge and helpful advice when asking about a lotion purchase. Sam went out of her way to describe and answer all of my questions before deciding on the new "islim" accelerator. I tend to be an indecisive person but she nailed it & I was sold within 2 minutes... This location is gross. Beds are ALWAYS streaky or smudged, Carpets are dirty and smell, staff is rude and cranky, they're always on their phones and the never know what they're doing ... all I wanted to do was update a member ship 2 levels and the girl didn't know if she needed my card or if it was on file. So after 5 mins of taking my wallet in and out of my pocket, she ended up needing it. I'll be find a new location. read more

The salon isn't very clean, the spray booth had used lotion all over it. The start button had a lotion hand print over it, used paper towels overflowing the garbage and spilling onto the floor, and dirty cloth towels unfolded on the table. I didn't even bother telling the receptionist, it seems that any dialogue actually burdened her. She wouldn't even look up or make eye contact when you walk in the door or the entire time she's checking you in. She clearly does not want to be there. read more

Then the bed never starts, after waiting 8min and not being sure what to do...I call the front desk form my cell phone. She sounded aggravated with me (like it was somehow my fault) and never apologized. I won't be going back! read more

I visit here regularly, multiple times per week. Nothing good with this location at all. Staff is very inattentive and lackadaisical, and their attire is atrocious! No professionalism at all, no company shirts or anything. They're half dressed wearing whatever the feel like, showing parts they shouldn't like it's a gentleman's club or something. If you have a question, you'll have to wait because typically they're on their cellphones whining about customers or how tired they are instead of cleaning the place, which is becoming a much more serious issue by the day. The tanning beds are obviously "cleaned" with dirty old saturated towels, if they're done at all, leaving other patron's grease & grime for the next customer to clean up. I recommend bringing your own supply of Clorox wipes and a clean towel, because they usually don't have much available for you to do their job for them. Sometimes you can even find someone's personal garbage under a machine... disgusting things you truly don't want to find, that I don't dare mention here. For the money you shell out to be a monthly member, I'd expect it to be spotless. Instead, you feel like you need to hurry home and take a shower after being here. Beyond terrible. I signed up for a level two package which is the package that has stand up tanning available. What they fail to mention to you is that they only have ONE stand up tanner available. Every single time I have come here there has been a wait. The customer service is awful. The first time I came in after I signed up there was a line of three people in front of me. Someone was opening up a new account and instead of taking two seconds to check in the current patrons we all waited 20 mins for them to finish opening up the new account. The following three times I came in I've waited over 15 mins each for the stand up. The reason I only do stand up is because you can tell the beds are not cleaned. Once I used a bed and it was covered in lotion. Disgusting. Whoever owns this place needs to seriously realize how awful the customer service. And they need to be up front with what they have available. If you're charging someone for stand up beds but only ever have beds available that's bulls$it. Save your money and go elsewhere! read more

Regret ever stepping into Tommy's Tanning. First the girls working there are completely unprofessional they sat there on the phones every time I went in their feet up on the desk and one time I stood at the desk for 10 minutes before someone even showed up to the desk so round of applause to you. I never write reviews but I'm so disgusted by Tommy's Tanning corporation all together that I needed to. So I walked in saying I want one month of tanning and the lady more like teenager told me to do monthly and just cancel it on the 15th because when you sign up for a monthly membership they say they charge on the 15th so I went in to cancel since I was only tanning for a little bit before prom and they said that it was canceled and my account would not be charged. After that I went home thinking okay I'm all good no more membership well I check my bank account regularly to make sure everything is fine it is the 28th and Tommy's Tanning just charged my account $35... I do not have a membership with them anymore and it is not the 15th so why is my account being charged? never again. I will make sure everyone knows to never go here completely disgusted they will use wordplay and everything to trick you out of money and obviously will even charge you when you don't even have a membership with them anymore. read more
