This Port Credit location has the absolute most amazing, friendly, helpful and informative staff that I have ever encountered. It takes a lot of time, effort and organization to make anything custom - especially an entire suit! I really admire all of the thoughtfulness that goes into their process. My fiance is having his suit made at Surmesur for our wedding. The groomsmen are also partaking in a "fitting party" in August where we will have already picked out the colour, style, fabrics of the jacket, pants and shirt - and the wedding party will come in and have a measurement and fitting night! They can bring in food, music, drinks and have a get together while the store is closed for a private small event. I just love this idea! My fiance is doing this as part of their bachelor party day with his groomsmen. My dad (father of the bride) is also having his suit for the wedding made here. My dad has never had anything custom before, and the staff (Malcom especially) was so patient and helpful with him - trying to keep him on track of being "trendy" while keeping with a "timeless" look that he can wear separate or as a full suit again! I am so happy that we found this lovely shop and I am so excited to see my fiance's suit come in! They say it takes about 4-6 weeks for the suit (3-piece) to be made, and it's all ready done and ready to pick up - we are just waiting for the custom shirt to come in! You can also go online and create pieces, see fabrics, check out their Surmesur Pinterest for inspiration, or just go on in to the store and ask questions - they are so happy to chat! Don't be surprised if they are all wearing the coolest suits you have seen :) They also have ties, pocket squares and other accessories for all your suit needs! Looking like another "off the rack" guy with an ill fitting suit just like the next guy. Then I went to Surmesur. Some really knowledgeable consultants (not sales flunkies) discussed my options and then guided me to design a custom built suit like nobody else's. I chose the fabric, a funky lining, the lapel type, the buttons, what kind of pockets and much more. Every part of the process had two discoveries--1) I did not know what makes a suit good and 2) I have wasted a lot of money on "off the rack" sacks. A custom suit starts at the same price as I paid for off the rack! Then came the measurements. The guys not only recorded my physical specifications, they tweaked them based on my desires. With my specs in my online profile, I can now order more perfectly fitting shirts or suits online. Now I am smart. And in about 5 weeks when my suit is finished, I will look smart too!!

Nothing is eye catching and I'm not sure if it's meant to be that way. I often find the store empty all the time. So yes... basic fashions. Simple, functional, and well made. There are lots of flowy lines in the women's side. It strongly reminds me of a paired down simplier aesthetic compared to Club Monaco. You won't find heavy materials or pin tucks. Size way, it's generous ... maybe they grow them bigger in Vancouver but even the slimmer cuts are very generous on me. Most lengths hit mid calf which is odd looking for someone who is short (like me). Service is quiet but helpful. I dont think they actually approach or look at you till you need help. When you do, they're willing to step it up and find what you need. Price wise, this is where it excels better than Club Monaco. You get nicer materials and wear of these pieces for better pricing. Also, I'm happier to support a Canadian brand. For me personally, I dont think the style is quite mine but if I'm ever needing some good casual clothes, I would be willing to step into this store.

One a couple shirts, buttons fell off after only a few washes. On another shirt, the button was sewn on securely, but incorrectly. That's fine, in that you'd never really notice unless looking closely, but it speaks to the inconsistency and lack of quality control. A lot of the negative reviews are very negative due to quality or service issues. I think, if you keep in mind that you're getting mediocre quality and mediocre service, you can get very good deals here, but you have to understand that quality and service are both going to be hit or miss.

My favourite brand that they carry is 7 Downie Street, who make very nice, colourful shirts and jackets. You can find some more traditional items here too: blazers, suits, ties, sweaters, pants, etc. However, you won't find any shoes or traditional English overcoats like you might at Rego, Harry Rosen, Indochino or Proper Cloth. Also, just be VERY sure about what you buy. This is the only reason I won't give a five star rating. For understandable reasons for a small business, they're reluctant to give refunds if you purchase something and change your mind later. They're happy to give you store credit for most returns, but they probably won't refund you if you change your mind. Ignore the return policy at the end of your receipt, treat anything you buy here as a final sale, and you won't be disappointed. Everything they carry is high quality and they only sell new, never-before-worn clothes.
