The owners are really friendly and are diligently there, open early, every time I pop in to pick up sausages for a Saturday morning brunch. The sausages are really worth the trek up the hills...they have a brilliant variety-I highly recommend the chipolatas. In fact, they have everything you need for a really delicious breakfast...organic meat, bakery bread, free-range eggs and locally pressed apple juice....mmm, Archers is one of the establishments I miss most from my days living in Hanover. They make sausage rolls and pasties, and it's pretty hard to resist when you walk by and smell that baking! They were happy to give me bones for a dog for no charge. Anything you want, they'll get in for you. There's a small selection of produce and chutneys, and some meat bagged up for the freezer. Oh, and there's cheese and ham, too. I may just start sleeping on the floor. And if you go in and say what you're making, they'll give you the right cut of meat and the right size, and then tell you how long to cook it. I think one of these days, they'll just follow me home and cook it up for me. The downside? It's expensive. But you're paying for quality and expertise, which you just don't get at a supermarket.
