In my opinion - Tom is a sub standard painter. We had the opportunity to meet an awesome painters who came to paint our crown molding , baseboards , window castings and doors. I discussed the issues and damaged Tom Carlson did to our kitchen cabinets , bedroom doors and adjacent walls and it was described as there was no proper prep - sanding , caulking - or spray technique. The closet doors are rough there was no sanding or caulking and they were dried sprayed. The kitchen cabinets had over sprayed everywhere and to this day unable to get it off. He sent a person out to fix it as he said he would not come out himself. He improperly attempted to get rid off the orange peel by brushing paint over a sprayed cabinet - leaving noticeable brush marks all over the cabinet -again no prep - no sanding. He damaged the adjacent walls when he used the wrong tape and pulled off the paint. Instead of sanding and rolling the paint he used a brush and now unsightly brush strokes. The awesome painter we have now said the only way to fix it - is sanding and reapplying the paint with the proper roller. We are now having to pay again to fix the sub standard job Tom Carlson did.i went into one of the well known paint store who threw his business cards in the trash. They do not want to recommend him. beware of this character he is a hack. If you don't want a lien on your house stay away from this guy. Painted my shelving brackets in my closet and never asked if I wanted them painted. I didn't want them painted so he took them down and they disappeared? I Bought knew ones had to install them myself cause his crew was stripping the screws. painted the inside of all the cabinets with primer. Sanded them maybe 20 minutes. If you disagree with him he will lose is temper and always has an excuse for everything. Our contract says Sherwin Williams paint he used Baer paint from Home Depot that doesn't match.That is a breach of contract. Good thing I know people at Home Depot and sherwin williams. Tom your a crook and a shitty painter. Please return my brackets that you stole that is 100 dollars. you took 1200 dollars from my wife and you were only supposed to take 850 bucks by law that is also stated in you contract. I have pictures of everything. It was nice of you to not paint our fresh air return and block in my wood stove so we had no heat source for two days with freezing temps outside. I am not a bit happy with my painting job. In his defense it was something new for him, putting epoxy on my garage floor, but I really thought he would have taken better care and learned about the process before using my home as a lab. He gave me an estimate of $1200.00 for everything. All paint kits etc. He didn't measure well and needed 2 more kits, tried to water down the product with water and made an even more mess, He then demanded another $1000.00 to get the job done, when I balked at the price he threatened to walk off the job. I am newly widowed, and I feel he took advantage of me. Beware. Get your estimate in writing, (I didn't). and if he pulls off the job, call the BBB. or even better, 10 on your side. I could have had the top company do this work with a much better outcome for the price I paid to Referable. I do NOT refer him. read more

Excellent finished product. All original mahogany kitchen cabinets re-finished in off-white with country distress. Tom had to come back and spend an additional day repainting boxes as the product cured differently from the doors and drawers refinished in his shop. It was obvious he was not satisfied with the way they looked and he gladly spent the extra day to make us happy. Pricing seemed fair, and was less than half the cost of re-facing with new doors, drawer fronts, laminate, and hardware. read more

When I first met Tom he said he was a man of his word. He told me how he would power wash our home, prepare the wood before priming and then paint our home by spraying, rolling and brushing. He said others would work with him and that he would be present every day that work was being done. He also said that they would work consistently so that the job would be finished in a timely fashion and that they would keep the site clean and orderly as they worked. He absolutely did everything he said he would do!! Our home looks beautiful and the quality of the work is wonderful.
