BUUUUT, I always give brownie points for good people and good service so lets go with 4! We came there and currently of course as they're still undergoing upgrades and renovations their potential is yet TBD. Ambiance wise, not counting the on going renovations the current available rooms seems to be clean but unfortunately tiny. The first thing that stood out for me is the scent of chinese food that made me and my husband hungrier (so thats not bad) but they did mention also selling food eventually. If the time does come, I am down for trying out their food. However, in terms of exp, it does take away a little bit away from the relaxation. Some sort of aromatherapy scent would be nice. Music is fine and relaxing enough. So far, it seems like a family owned business. The people are very nice and accommodating they've taken note of my injuries and had avoided it so I appreciate about that. Technique wise, they're okay. Definitely worked on my shoulders that was apparently really sore. However, it would be cool to refine their techniques more. I really was surprised with the warm towel in the middle of it. Another experience enhancement is offering something (aside from water) like tea before or after the massage. Definitely will come back and will look forward to see the final form of the spa!

I paid $70 for someone to vigorously rub (not massage) lotion / oil on me. It's wasn't relaxing in the slightest. No discretion for my body, exposing (even when I pulled the towel back over) me. I personally am not a fan of hot stones, they usually ask, however this lady did not and it wasn't even a true hot stone portion. Instead she warmed her hands with the stone to rub me and then once the only rock she had was cool she vigorously rubbed the one stone all over my body. It wasn't a full hour 10 min short. She demanded a tip when I was leaving, which I usually do tip but today I wasn't going to as it was that bad of an experience. My advice for lookers go somewhere else where the actually massage and you get your monies worth. Somewhere where tension is released and they know what they're doing. My advice for this business. You need to actually massage and work the muscles. Go get certified! Slow down to provide a relaxing experience and truly get in and work those muscles. The difference between the past and present studio is drastic, and I couldn't be happier with the changes. Beyond Massage is located in a small shopping strip center on Porter in Norman. When you enter the door, you are greeted by a welcoming waiting area, complete with nice furniture, calming music, and dimmed lights. It is obvious that this area has been well planned instead of being an after thought, like so many other massage studios. Even though the studio is small, the waiting area gives it a spa-like feel and prepares you for relaxation. The massages are done in individual rooms that are decorated like a typical massage studio. The music selection is nice, and I love the various oils and scents used for my massage. I appreciate the climate isn't too cold, which has happened to me more times than not when visiting other studios. I always feel comfortable and safe at Beyond Massage. The prices are what makes Beyond Massage such a great place. No need to search for massage deals though discount sites and risk having a bad experience. The regular price for a one hour massage is $45! That is $15 cheaper than the average one hour massage. My therapist of choice is Micah. I highly recommend her. Her many years of experience teaching and giving massages makes her the perfect therapist for me. I love her.
