Happened to come across Tokyo Grill when out on a rapid search for food and tea during an archery competition in Chula Vista. The beef teriyaki bowl hit the spot with lots of protein, veggies, and quality rice. Probably should have tried the spam musubi too as it was reasonably priced at 2.99. Maybe next time. read more

This is typical 90's food court mall food. Nothing too much to rave about, nor nothing too much to rant about. The teriyaki beef plate was plentiful enough, with the beef over fried rice, noodles, and steamed vegetables. The high school aged cashier/countergirl was disinterested and had the personality of a cardboard. She acted like she did not want to be there. I've been here a few times! I'm glad they're still open here at the mall. When I do come, I always order the Yakitori combo with noodles and get a spam musubi. My kids really enjoy the teriyaki bowl and the food portions are good and well worth the price. The noodles are flavorful and satisfying! Considering that it's a food court Japanese food. The mild ramen we ordered with eggs are pretty darn good. We also ordered pre-made california rolls. Service was fantastic, the sweet lady even brought our food out to our table. The eating area is very clean and they keep up well. I had an hour to kill before my hair appointment and decided to have dinner here. The food was tasty for a fast food joint. Although some of the noodles were a little hard it was still good. The chicken meal comes with noodles, fried rice and veggies. Drizzle a little soy sauce and delicioso. The service was acceptable and I can hear them cooking my food as soon as it was put in. But here they are standard and only $1.99. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl. The sauce is mild in flavor, but okay. My other kid got ramen. Don't expect anything fancy, their ramen seems to be the kind you can make at home in 5 minutes with some green onion added to it, and it's exactly what my kid wanted so I can't complain. I have to say it was definitely not my favorite ramen. It wasn't bad but there was very little flavor to it and not many other ingredients in the ramen beside the chicken. Came here for the Tuesday $6 sushi roll deal. Cashiers were friendly, immediately asked if we needed any help. The meal was pretty fulfilling. Since it was a to-go order, the sauce was left in a separate container so the tempura crunch stays crunchy. Dragon roll was decent, too. As for the baked salmon roll, it's still a good deal for the price I paid. My husband & I were on a date last night (a Saturday) & decided to catch a movie. Before the movie, we had time to grab a bite to eat at the food court. I came here cause I was hungry. I was looking at the menu above the wall as you enter. I got a #9 which consists of fried rice, noodles, a full chicken cut up in pieces, two pieces of shrimp tempura and a salad. The noodles and fried rice were good. Chicken was flavorful as it had teriyaki sauce on it but chicken was a little tough. The shrimp tempura was good and hot. Salad consisted of cabbage, carrots and broccoli. I also got a medium raspberry iced tea. All this costs me $11 and some change. It was totally not worth that much for a meal that was packed with food in a styrofoam container. They had seating inside and outside. The lady working here was nice. It's your typical mall food but it was enough to satisfy my hunger for food. They also sell ramen. Perfect place to get simple Philadelphia rolls and crunch rolls. I'm usually at this mall on tuesdays for the farmer's market. And this is the only store I'll go to eat if I'm hungry. Everything else is too over priced too out of the way to drive. Staff here are very friendly and welcoming. There was a middle aged lady working at the register. She also makes the sushis. For a fast food place, this place makes bomb sushis! My crunchy rolls always tasted amazing :) my boyfriend loves em too. I stopped here on the way out of shopping one day at OTRTC. I saw that this place offered take out sushi. On a whim, I decided to order the philly rolls. I wasn't expecting much to be honest. However, when I got home and ate the sushi, it was surprisingly good and the philly cream cheese was fresh. I've eaten sushi before around the corner for take out from Bento and Noodles. Comparing the two, I may have to order my philly rolls from this place from now on. I haven't tried the other sushi here yet, but will have to sometime down the road. This place also serves traditional Asian dishes like fried rice, orange chicken, stir fried noodles, and so forth. I come here at least once a week for spicy ramen. The presentation may not be as fancy as some other ramen spots but there's just something about the taste that leaves me wanting more. The broth is actually spicy, not crazy painful to eat spicy, but just spicy enough to give it that kick I crave now and then. The noodles are the perfect texture. I'm a big fan of maruchan and instant ramen noodles because I prefer my noodles on the softer side. The noodles here are just as soft and so much fun to slurp. Everything is so quick and affordable, making it very easy to splurge. The staff is also incredibly friendly, big smiles all day long. I usually order ahead of time via phone call so I have the number saved to my contact list! For a mall with such a small food court, this place is an absolute gem. Smart that this place takes advantage of the farmer's market/bazaar. They have a Tuesday special on sushi for $5 rolls & ramen that is $1 off. Their sushi is taste decent, but it is cheaper than the food deals that are in the farmers market area. I tried their: - Philadelphia Roll: basic roll but if you love cream cheese, they put a generous amount. It can be toned down with their white pickled ginger -dynamite roll: baked scallop with mozzarella cheese on top.
