CON: Very disappointing at first visit. Yakisoba was bland and precooked, one of the worst yakisoba i ever tasted. Fried rice and mix veggies are alright and eatable. Hibachi beef is also alright, eatable but somewhat chewy like over cooked beef. Everything came out warm temperature except the tonkatsu and the meat lover roll where they cook and make on order. The roll is 3/10, Tonkatsu is 3/10, hibachi beef is 3/10, veggie is 3/10, fried rice 2/10, yakisoba 1/10. This Tokyo Express needs to step up its game or else the buffet next door and Panda Express will take all the customer. PRO: Very nice and clean restaurant, sauces available on the side for self serve, lemons and limes are already submerged in drinking water. read more

This place is gross I spent about $30 on 2 combos and 3 bubble drinks and I'm left with so many negative things to say about this place, the taste of fried rice and noodles alike is a generic chicken bullion, there's nothing hibachi about the grilled shrimp or chicken I ate, and the bubble teas taste like powder, that grids buildup just stays in the back of your throat this place is garbage, do not waste your money here, just back back to the buffet behind it and get a combo to go or drive to Panda Express down the street. Will be Avoiding this place at all cost, cheap garbage! read more

I absolutely love this place, the food is always fast and ready and they're always on their a game with customer service.I haven't dealt with anyone rude yet which is good and I come here almost every other day for lunch and they never fail to satisfy. Sometimes drive thru takes long but it's well worth it cause it just shows how much they wanna perfect the food. read more

I love to get my sushi from here. Always made amazing. Never do me wrong. Trust in yo neighborhood food critic.

Tokyo Express is located about half a mile from where I work. I have been there a couple of times on my lunch break, and it is really good. The first time I went, I had a California Roll and seaweed salad. The second time I went, I had chicken fried rice and crab rangoons. Everything I've had from there was amazing. The portions are decent sized, so you definitely get what you pay for. I've only gone through the drive they because the dining room was closed because of Covid. The wait time was longer than expected, but that's ok because everything was freshly made. I definitely recommend this place if you like Japanese food. read more

We placed an order in side for carry out and our food was ready pretty quickly. Food was delicious and portions were large. We tried a few appetizers and they were all delicious. The inside of the restaurant was empty of diners but the tables were clean and organized. There was a steady flow of people coming in to pickup orders so you can still eat inside and have privacy with their layout. Very glad we tried and will be recommending as well! read more

As a new resident here in San Antonio and during the times where takeout / delivery is the norm than dine-in, I looked at a few places to eat close to me and this place I can say does not disappoint! 4 times I've ordered here in the last two months and the portions they give is more than the usual (). Ive ordered the steak and chicken combo and it's soo good. Definitely choose the fried rice option! Both ordered via Grubhub and drive thru and the customer service and punctuality is awesome. Tokyo Express has become one of my regular favorites! read more

This is a nice little place to get food. My whole family and I really enjoy it. The portions seem large enough, the presentation fantastic and the taste is beyond good. My go to favorite is the filet mignon, with fried rice. The flavor is very powerful and I always seem to want more. They are doing drive through only during the pandemic but that is fine. Glad to see this small business making it read more

Omg, this place was mind blowing. Today was my first time here and I was expecting some boxed up takeout food. What I got was something totally authentic and definitely from scratch. The flavors hit the back of my tastebuds and it was so good!! And the portions, expect to have leftovers because they give a lot of food. I love this place. Wish I would have taken pictures of the food, but we devoured half of it earlier and the other half just now. read more

Never before have I ordered from the same place two nights in a row but this is the first time and we love this place we both got the hibachi bowls two nights ago I got the shrimp and my boyfriend got the steak and they were amazing, I saw people raving about their sushi so we ordered that last night and it beat any delivery sushi we have ever had. This will definitely be a weekly meal for us read more

Just ok to me but my husband likes it a lot. The meals are a good size and quality of ingredients seem great I'm just not a fan he flavor is a little less than what I would like but it may be worth a try for you. I'm so glad that Tokyo Express opened up again. I have been going there for the past two years and they have always produced good food. I haven't had any problems with their customer service. I would recommend the Texas roll, it has steak and cream cheese in it. read more

Very good simple Fried Rice for just the right price (even after inflation). Dishes are large in size and you are guaranteed a filling serving every visit. Sushi was kind of on the soggy side so I would recommend going elsewhere if that's what you're craving. If you want some good ol' rice or noodles: Tokyo has you covered. read more

Finding fast food vegetarian or vegan options can be difficult. Earthburger is my favorite fast food vegan option and Tokyo Express is another spot I frequent for fast vegetarian options. I have had the Hibachi double vegetables with noodles several times and I have been pleased. Although not perfect it is reasonable, served fast and hot by pleasant people. ( I always think of The Last Dragon when eating here.) read more

Tokyo Express - Double Hibachi vegetables over noodles - Japanese Near Me - Windcrest, Texas

No good. Being from Honolulu with a Japanese restaurant on every other block alternating with a small Chinese hole-in-wall restaurant, we know Asian food. This place is a Chinese prepared food place hiding out behind Japanese names. All stir fried slightly greasy mixed veggies/rice or noodles. The worse is their tempura. Even the Ala Moana fast food court booths have better tempura, thin and flaky without a hint of grease. To make matters worse, this place ain't cheap for a bowl filled with mostly rice/noodles with a superficial greasy layer of small chopped unrecognizable vegetables and some of the tempura shrimp, etc, cost around ten bucks. You can eat all you want for the same price right across their parking lot My final advice...don't buy stock in this company. read more

This is a new fast Asian food restaurant that open about a month ago in the area on Walzem near where I live so of course I wanted to check out the menu. They offer a good variety but similar to other asian fast food except they have SUSHI!! The restaurant was clean and they had a condiment counter that provided sauces, napkins, straws, etc. So grateful on how polite and helpful the wait staff were when we was ordering. I did check out the restrooms that are human neutral just saying....where very clean and had asian pictures on the wall. Their fast food seems fresh..... I did order the calamari which was very rubbery so no wouldn't do that again.... the shrimp was good and tender as I had ordered it with white rice and veggies. Presentation for fast food there is none to write about here. So for a quick meal the prices are normal under $10. I did not order sushi so I cannot write on quality and favor....but hope it's yummy. Glad there open and hope they make a few changes as all their food should be excellent for their customers that's how a fast food receives 5 stars along with great service and atmosphere ambiance. read more

This is NOT Japanese food. The boba tea was just pink liquid with ice cubes. I ordered the hibachi steak and shrimp, it was pretty much fajitas and shrimp that you would get on that sizzling iron platter at any Mexican restaurant. It was not bad, the rice is good but it's in NO way Japanese or hibachi food read more

the absolute worse. No seasoning at all. 22.00 wasted. yall should be ashames. Give people what they pay for!

Great sushi and fast. Friendly staff, I would definitely recommend. Fried rolls are amazing.

We went the day after their grand opening. We have been hoping for years that more decent restaurants will open on Walzem. I guess we'll keep hoping, because this isn't it. The food was incredibly bland overall. We tried the main combo, one with chicken and the other with steak. We also got fried calamari balls The fried rice was mealy, the meat chewy. Nothing had good flavor. The calamari balls were a very unappealing texture, but we had never eaten such a thing, so maybe they were done well and just aren't our cup of tea. I wish we'd tried the sushi to know if it was any better. I will say that the service was good, and we didn't get food poisoning, hence the two stars. read more

I was in the area. Went through the drive through tonight, around 9:15-9:30pm. Ordered teriyaki chicken with fried rice, and veggies. Only to drive 25 minutes home to find my meal WITHOUT Chicken. Just mushy rice and veggies! No meat. $12 for rice, veggies and a soda. Didn't think I needed to check my meal before driving off. Especially for an entree with the word "chicken" in it. I know I went close to 10pm closing time but that's no excuse. I would have rather heard "we are out of chicken" instead. Of course everything is closed by the time I get home and realize. Just getting over Covid and I have no food. so here I am at H-E-B getting something quick. Which is what I should have done in the first place! Thank you for my first time experience and the inconvenience. read more

We literally spent 45 minutes waiting to get our food from a drive they at a place called Tokyo EXPRESS. The sushi really good, and the customer service is great, but there's a lot of work needed with the speed of service. We sat in the drive thru for 10 minutes before being asked to pull up to the front. After doing so we still waited another 30minutes before my husband went inside to figure out why it was taking so long. 45 minutes is a ridiculous wait time. read more

I always drive by this place , and it always looked empty but looks can be deceiving sometimes , so for dinner we are ordering here and of course due to covid they are only drive through only . Which is fine , I see they have sushi ! you know it was kinda of suspect to order "drive through" sushi hey yolo . I also ordered the hibachi chicken and scallops, and before we drove off , I had to inspect first ALL items are there and of course take a look at the food , and you know what I was blown away food portion not bad sushi looked pretty good . I will definitely come back ! read more

Excellent customer service and tasty food. They have really great selection and the portion sizes are huge. Great value!

Very good and pretty fast!! I'm currently eating leftovers from takeout here and they're still amazing!

I always order the combination fried rice and order of crab Rangoons and then mix it up between the hibachi steak or teriyaki shrimp with noodles. We get that to share and it's more than enough! Left overs for the next day and mmmmhmmm delicious highly recommended I've been told the sushi is great that will be my next order when we go! read more
