I really love Japanese food, I really do. The first time I tried Tokyo Bubble Tea was a few years ago when the milk tea craze really blew up and it was their branch in Tomas Morato. I wasn't aware how good the food was, and if there is such a thing as "love at first bite", then this has got to be it.
However, this review is more for their Katipunan extension branch which I've already tried numerous times. I love that this place is open even on a late night and the setting is really nice for a great meal with friends. The interiors are really kawaii albeit modern - it uses a fun color palette to keep the atmosphere light with really nice Japanese paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling.
Now, let's get to the food. I really like my Japanese beef bowls, and one of the usual things I order is the Beef Gyudon. The beef gyudon at Tokyo Bubble Tea is very filling and I like the mix of flavors on the tender beef strips with the raw egg yolk on top sprinkeld with sesame seeds. Another dish that I really liked was the Japanese Hamburg Steak - the sauce is very delicious and the meat itself isn't very dry. The meat is served with mashed potato and egg on top. As for the restaurant's drinks, I really like their Coffee Bubble Tea and is often a mainstay when I order some refreshments.
Right beside Tokyo Bubble Tea is another Japanese-themed bakery, The Honeybee Patisserie. The space is shared between the two restaurants, and I think it's a great idea because you can have the best of both worlds in one sitting. The Honeybee Patisserie serves up more Western dishes and of course, Crepes. One crepe I've tried and was a real fan of was the Chocolate Mango Crepe. I wish though they had a topping of vanilla ice cream, although on its own, it's still very good.
Overall, I really like the food served at Tokyo Bubble Tea. The servings are just right considering its price range and it's sure to be on of my favorite late night haunts when I want Japanese food. read more
