Tognini's is pretty hit and miss to be honest. Their catering is great, the deli section is well rounded, their cheese room is NUTS, their salads are delicious, the items in the fridge are definitely tasty but the breakfast has always been a bit of a let down.
My problem is a hard one for me to admit to - too much butter. I love butter. I love butter so much I buy l'escure french butter at almost $9 per roll so I can eat it on bread. No other fillings, I don't want to get in the way of my buttery goodness. So you can see why it's an odd comment for me to make.
However, Tognini's really does take it too far. The scrambled eggs are light, fluffy - and almost too rich to eat. The eggs benedict are topped by an insanely buttery hollandaise. Even the toast comes out almost soft with butter.
It's a shame as the quality of produce they use is fantastic, and there's not a lot of breakfast places in this neck of the woods. I guess I should stick to muesli next time. read more
