1 What they offer 2 The experience…read more3 Who goes there 4 See the gym in action 5 Equipment 1. First off, the gym is named Zanshin. Zanshin is a MMA school. Within the walls of Zanshin is also the DaJoGen School of MMA and home of local fight team Chaos. The benefit of all three is a beautiful marriage of experience you'll find nowhere else. The following Martial Arts Styles are offered at Zanshin: Aikido Brazilian Jujitsu Jiu-Jitsu (Jujutsu/Jujitsu) Judo Karate Kick Boxing Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Muay Thai Boxing 2. As far as gyms go, this is by far the nicest MMA gym in the area. I dont know of any other gym with a spring board floor catered to MMA and fitness. The equipment is top notch with a variety of bags and cardio equipment. You can walk into this newer gym and work out side by side with world class athletes. The best part is, you dont have to be a world class athlete to train here! The ambiance here is like a big family in addition to being family friendly. As a beginner to the sport of MMA, i found the DaJoGen school of MMA to be a great way to condition myself for my triathlon season and i didnt feel like i was lost in the class. 3. ***WARNING!!! Its addicting and probably the best fitness training you'll get. At any given time, you can be training with people of all professions from active military soldiers and professional fighters there for specific training to college students and house wives there for fitness. The variety of attendees is a unique experience and great networking. 4.Here's a video tip DaJoGen puts out monthly on their Facebook account that gives a glimpse into the conditioning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGOwCHfbTaM&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL 5. As far as equipment you'll need, you can buy anything you dont already have at the gym. The bonus is the gym doesn't try to make any money off of you on product sales. They're genuinely there for the love of the sport. I would suggest 3 things: Boxing gloves Mouth guard Shin guards

The training here is just amazing. Top notch athletes and coaches!!read more

Lunas Boxing

Lunas Boxing

Long ass review incoming…read more So, I've boxed here a couple of months. Ive had an interest in boxing for a few years, but only recently have begun taking it serious. All and all I have like.. a year of experience. But so far, I've found that Luna's is one of the few gyms that offers boxing- and teaches you shit. To the credit of other gyms, the thing is alot of others offer it as like a cardio boxing thing/have other martial arts they focus on as their main ones. If you want to compete, learn self defense, or stay active you should be training here all the same. Like, if youre gonna do cardio boxing and just spam punches in the air you might as well do it while actually learning how to do it correctly. Its more value. Coach Oscar and Assistant Coach Josh are an excellent duo. Its a gym ran by a Mexican family, teaching Mexican pressure boxing. Different regions, countries have different styles within boxing. So no shit, you'll learn Mexican pressure boxing from a Mexican boxer. They've produced winners, and facilitated transformation. If you want change, and to grow, I'd train here. Josh does a fucking excellent job explaining the technical why and how behind things. I can always bug him and Oscar for what we are doing, and why... If you put the effort in, they give you their attention. If you are serious, they are serious. But if you just wanna sweat, socialize while working out, you have friends and family all the same. I don't care if this review sounds corny, this is for anyone thoughtful and trying to weigh their choices. There's a kids class, and the pricing is all competitive. I have shopped around lol. Unless you're asleep, you don't walk away from a martial art not learning discipline and getting confidence. Come watch sparring, bring your kid to something useful and helpful (I have adhd, this shit is amazing for it. You can't space out unless you wanna get hit in the face, good motivator), get ripped, learn to fight. Pick your reason. I have to move soon, and I'm gonna miss the shit out of the community I found here. Btw 3282 Silverton Rd NE, Salem is the official address. Enter the food yard, its a smallish yellow sign, and keep going straight then turn left. Its in the back.
