I got poor customer service and NO relief on the back end. I hired them to finish packing and loading for a U-Pack move. Although the guys that showed were nice, they seemed rushed and upset that I underestimated the time needed. They crammed everything in, just about filled the 28-foot truck. They didnt cinch things down, use plywood barriers to separate sections. They had furniture pieces next to items they shouldn't have. The load shifted during transport and ruined a number of things like my $1800 TV, handmade very nice cherry table; they broke pieces, bent metal shelves, marred and scrapped other furniture. THEN, they refused to compensate me for ANY of the damage; nothing whatsoever even though I sent numerous pictures. Even the guys who unloaded me on this end said they did a lousy job. When I was needing a heavy piece of medical equipment moved in short notice the crew at Todd responded quickly, did the job professionally and the staff was polite and helpful. They did the job in record time and the price was fair considering I had only 24 hours to get the item moved. I would highly recommend them. The sole reason I used them is because they were the literal ONLY option when having things moved from my parents home in VT to Detroit. The driver called me the night before my scheduled delivery trying to avoid shuttling the items onto a smaller truck. Then day of, he arrived grumpy and didn't even request payment as he was supposed to. Wheaton only took payment when I called them. I soon discovered they'd broken a number of pieces of furniture and lost the only piece of furniture my father had brought to this country when he moved here from Europe as a child. When I filed a claim, they sat on it for months, and then said that I hadn't opted for the damage coverage, so I had to show them the signature. They then said I hadn't paid for it and wouldn't proceed until I paid the insurance premium. After several more months of waiting and submitting additional documentation, they said that the damages didn't meet the deductible and they wouldn't be paying anything. Disgruntled drivers and an incompetent back office makes for an absolutely abysmal experience. Go with ANYONE else, first or you'll regret it. read more

If you have a small place, don't bother with them. Very rude company "president" with poor customer service. The guy came to our apartment to do the estimate and hardly said a word while he was here. Didn't even make eye contact with us. Then sends us an estimate that was astronomical. He clearly couldn't be bothered with accuracy. When we questioned it, his email response was unprofessional. So like I said, don't waste your time having them come out. read more

We hired them to load an ABF trailer for us. The crew was polite and careful 5 stars at this point. When we unloaded the trailer we found that nothing had shifted during transit. However we had two pieces of furniture that were destroyed because heavy loads were stacked on top of them. Any truck is going to jostle along the way and I'm not sure why they chose to pile 100a of pounds on top of a desk and sideboard not designed for such loads. Very dissapointed in Todd Transportation and Wheaton. So let me start at the beginning. We hired Todd Transportation to orchestrate our move to North Carolina. The men they sent to empty our house were wonderful. Our belongings were handled as if it were their own. The nightmare began when and whoever reloaded our belongings onto the Wheaton truck. The Wheaton driver told me they did not wait for him to watch our belongings being placed on the truck. We paid $800.00 extra for insurance, which Later on I was told was not insurance. Unfortunately the house we picked in North Carolina fell through and we had to put our belongings into pods. As the men were unloading the Wheaton truck is when the damage was noticed. The Wheaton driver did not want to make notations on the bill of laden, because he said the cost of damages would come out of his pocket. So I had separate paperwork of my own listing the damage that was called out as the workers unloaded the Wheaton truck. The Wheaton driver signed the bill of laden and told me to report the damages on my own. Of course we did not have a leg to stand on, being that the damage was never noted on the bill on laden. This all took place August 2014. My husband and I had a business in Vermont for 17 years. We always went out of our way to make things right. Apparently this is not how this family or Wheaton runs their business. Of course Todd Transportation and Wheaton will have their side of the story to tell. Example: when your belongings are put into another container it is no longer our responsibility. Or, you never listed the damage on the bill of laden. What happened to the customer is always right? What a disaster. I booked my move six (6!!) months in advance because I had a very specific window for when I could move and accept delivery. I got a binding estimate with a "guaranteed" delivery date in writing. WRONG! I was supposed to receive 24 hours notice before the moving truck arrived and contacted my agent when I had heard nothing the night before the guaranteed delivery date. It took them TWO days to find my shipment and all they wanted to offer me was their "understanding" at my frustration. No explanation, no apology, nothing. The best I got from them was that "our computer was not accurate." As of this writing, I am still waiting for my things to show up. I will update when (if???) my things arrive. Overall it was a mess. Communication was poor. We also ended up with an overflow shipment (the estimator's goof, we were told) which arrived days after the end date that we were given. The overflow shipment is where most of the damage occurred. read more

What a treat! I needed to find a moving company that would pick up in Southern Vermont and deliver to the Denver area. Because I live in Colorado, I was unable to be present for the on-site quote or the packing and loading. I had to depend on my parents to be present for that part of the move. Todd Transportation showed up when they said they would. Their employees were polite and respectful of both my parents and my items being shipped. The cost was reasonable. My items arrive on the day they were scheduled with nothing broken. The driver was very nice. I highly recommend Todd Transportation to move your family heirlooms in a safe and respectful manner.
