You give her your symptoms and she will work with you and help you. The staff is nice and friendly too but it's definitely the doctor I find is wonderful! I highly recommend her and find that she's great to work with. If you are looking for a new and friendly family doctor I give her a 10 stars out of 5!

Age and a degenerative condition…read moremake me a complex patient who needs more care, an array of specialists and a PCP who can coordinate and advocate for me. Doctors like that are hard to come by nowadays. In fact, I decided to leave my last PCP when she stated her preference for two patient visits per year and the use of urgent care and the ER. She was candid about HMSA's reimbursement switch to a capitation plan as the basis for her preference. I empathize as I think this new payment system is detrimental for the patient too. So that wasn't going to work for me so I found paying the MDVIP fee a good investment. Dr Okimura has in-depth knowledge of my health issues and she is sincerely invested in finding solutions and helping me to be the best me. She is incredibly empathetic, timely responses to calls and emails and comes with well rounded knowledge. I really appreciate that she respects that I know my body and always takes my input into consideration. I highly recommend Dr Okimura!

ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS I've recently established Dr. Nekoba…read moreas my PCP and I'm very pleased with my decision. Dr. Ashlee Nekoba is a fairly newer MD accepting new patients!! She's young, smart, thorough, and in the know of the newest methods (as opposed to some old timers who are set in their ways and not really up to date with the latest practices). Dr. Nekoba is extremely easy to talk to and relate to, especially for me since I'm 25. (I believe she's in her early 30s.) ELECTRONIC CHARTING I also love the fact that Dr. Nekoba's office is technologically advanced, as she does her charting electronically. I believe electronic charting is way more efficient and a lot faster! That way there's no rustling through paperwork or potential loss of records!!! POB III Her office is located on the 5th floor of POB III on S. Beretania Street. Parking is located in any of the POB structures (or Miller, but that's a far walk). Don't forget to get your ticket validated to avoid paying $2 per every half an hour (or fraction thereof). POB III parking is accessible on Lauhala St. (perpendicular to Beretania). VERDICT I could not be happier with my choice to establish Dr. Nekoba as my PCP. If you're looking for a new MD, definitely give Dr. Nekoba's office a call! Yelp 365 - 135/365

My elderly mother has Dr. Nekoba listed as her primary care physician on her insurance card. Like…read moremany in her generation, she follows the mindset of "if it's not broken, don't fix it," and hadn't seen her PCP in a while. A recent visit to urgent care revealed concerning lab results suggesting potential kidney failure. We were advised to follow up with her primary care doctor and repeat the blood test in about a month. When I contacted Dr. Nekoba's office, I was told that because it had been over two years since her last visit, she was now considered a new patient--and unfortunately, the doctor was no longer accepting new patients. I explained the urgency of her condition, and the receptionist said she would speak with Dr. Nekoba and get back to me. No one ever followed up. After calling multiple clinics, all with wait times of several months to nearly a year, I reached out to Dr. Nekoba's office again, desperate for help. I expressed how worried I was that my mother might not survive the wait. The receptionist again checked with Dr. Nekoba, but the answer remained unchanged--she would not see my mom. I was told to try the Queens Clinic, even though I had explained that Queens had already referred us back to her PCP and wouldn't even order another blood test without one. While I understand that doctors have policies and limits, the complete lack of compassion or flexibility in the face of a potentially life-threatening situation was incredibly disheartening. At the very least, I had hoped for some kind of guidance or support from someone listed as her doctor of record. Where's the Aloha?

Can I just say that after going through several doctors trying to find one that I felt comfortable…read morewith both personally and professionally, I am so glad to have found Dr. Asari! A friend of mine recommended her - a friend who knows I am somewhat of a hypochondriac and always think the worst when it comes to my health. Dr. Asari is great at putting my mind at ease. She is calm and professional and extremely detailed oriented and thorough in her examinations. She will ask me what I am worried the issue is; I will tell her; and she will do what ever it takes to rule it out. She doesn't hesitate to run tests to see what's going on. Some may not like that, but I for one am thankful and appreciative instead of her just blowing things off and saying it's "nothing". She also does a great job of explaining to me why it's probably not what I think it is and helps me think things through logically. I also love how at the beginning of the visit she herself writes down a list of details and gets a good background history from me, instead of the nurse doing that. She is a great problem solver and talks everything out with me. That makes me feel better, to know what she's thinking. She will always tell me the worst scenario, but is very realistic and open about what is really going on, which validates my thoughts, but brings me back to reality; and again, she never makes me feel like a hypochondriac, even though I know I probably am. lol.

She may be right on some of these things but there is a way to deliver this information to a patient especially one undergoing significant health issues and mental instability. Avoid this retched doctor.
