I had a Polaris ATV that would not start so I took it to Todd Equipment Sales as they are supposed to be a certified Polaris Dealer. The atv has been pretty dependable and then it just would not start. I told the service advisor at Todd this information and they said they really didnt like working on bikes older than 2001 and mine was a 1999 Polaris Sportsman 335. They said they would look it over and charged me $120.00 to do so. They called me back about 5 days later and said their top notch tech person could not find out what the problem was but it could be the stator and there would be no guarantee if I paid them $1440.00 to do this. I thought that this was a lot of money to try and fix something with no guarantee that it would work and since they were the experts I decided to sell my bike as a non running bike and got $1300.00 for it. The person who bought my bike was no trained mechanic but he did say that he found the plug in for the CDI box had come out and he plugged it back in and it started right up and is running great for him. Well this made me feel sick because I took it too a Polaris Dealer and they couldn not figure out the plug had come out. How can they portray themselves as a honest business while doing this to a customer. I could have sold my bike running for $3800.00 every day of the week if I had intentions to sell it. I have contacted Polaris Canada head office and they are now looking into this dealership practises and I hope they pull their dealership from them. read more
