Toby's Estate was relatively unknown to me until I started working in the Ortigas area, and even then it only caught my eye because of how quaint but welcoming it looked.
Upon my first visit, I liked it immediately. The interiors were cozy and classy, with the woodwork and lighting being pleasant but also functional. I liked how they maximized the space so there were different table styles; a long business or barkada table for sharing, booths with sofa and chair setups, a small niche with barstools for working, and even a small area right in front of the baristas that served as a bar of sorts.
I also liked the little touches on the table such as the dried herbs / plants, and the small jars they used for condiments.
The staff was also very courteous, attentive, and welcoming.
Their products are a bit on the pricier side but mostly what you would expect from a higher-end coffee shop. I think for the quality and the ambiance, it's well worth it; it isn't as packed and noisy as Starbucks or CBTL, and you still get quality drinks and food.
I've often ordered their teas (supplied by da.u.de), espresso, and their cookies. They also offer Carmen's Best ice cream but I would prefer to buy those in supermarkets.
The tea is delicious but I think underutilized because it's served in such a small cup. I know some pickier tea drinkers are okay with that, but I feel that for the price, they should at least give you the option of having a bigger mug, or even give you a separate teapot of hot water.
Their espresso is also good, I think better than the Yardstick coffee I've had (purchased beans so I brew them at home) which was too mellow and thin, although I still prefer Craft's coffee over theirs.
Overall really good, and although I don't get to visit this branch anymore, it's still my favourite branch and coffeeshop in the area. Would definitely recommend this over other coffee shops along the main Ortigas strip. read more
