How this place got a high rating is hard to believe. Been there 2 times. Horrible ribs the first time. Fish still frozen inside second time. Not just cold, hard. It's dark and dirty. There is no way the health dept gave 100 out of 100 someone has to be paying them off. The kitchen is super gross, they take pride at being a dive bar with no real regulations or standards for food safety because ya know....its a dive bar......I wouldn't drink water from this place.....I witnessed food being thawed in a mop sink and utensils being reused between lunch and dinner service and left out on a plate at room temp. Food is always consistently great. Have had few bad meals here. Service is good depending on who's working but I've never been treated poorly. The place is well kept and always decorated for whatever holiday they have coming up. All in all a decent place to get a good meal. read more

It is great to see Toby K's doing so well!! A hot Sunday afternoon and the place was packed! Limited seating, but not a problem because we ordered carry out. Looking around the bar it seems gizzards are still pretty popular! We ordered a brisket sandwich, 2 pulled pork sandwich's, and a grilled chicken sandwich- potato salad, tator tots and crinkle cut fries. Not a disappointed stomach in the house! Over all taste was good- meats were moist and juicy- the bun on the chicken sandwich soggy and we did ask for extra sides of bbq sauce- those were not in the bag- so used Cookie's when home. Over all satisfying- the price for portion is great. read more

This is a great dive bar find- hidden gem!! We stopped on a Monday at 1045am- yes they were open. Their menu is typical bar food menu stuff except they have a good amount of specialty hamburgers. They have daily specials. We ate here and it was great. Service was great, just a really good stop! read more

The only downside to this place they can't help - a ton of flies from the constant opening and closing of the door, but it's a pretty nice hang out spot for all ages. I've seen toothless drunks and multi-generation families there. It is a bar, but I've never seen or heard anything too far from kid friendly. Many types hang out here and the food is pretty nice. There's a punch card - 11th meal is free, daily specials, happy hour, tvs, music, good burgers, and great beer battered fries. The restrooms are clean and the service is wonderful. You can also easily see into the kitchen and it always looks clean. Frankly I think it's probably the best eating spot in Boone. read more

First time here. The prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is a dive bar. Loud, drunks etc. the food was mediocre. We had the Philly cheesesteak which came with pepper jack cheese on it. Being from Philly, this is not a Philly cheesesteak. Pepper jack cheese-really? But it was hot and good enough. The side salads were iceberg with cheap tangy tasting dressing. But again edible. The croutons were tasty. The wings were juicy and well cooked inside but the breading was mushy. The sweet chili sauce tasted like Chinese duck sauce. The food was reasonably tasty for the reasonable price. I wouldn't go back but I can see how others would. read more

Went there to eat, got seated in a booth right away only to wait and have no one come help us. After 10 minutes of no one coming to take drink orders or anything, my husband went up to order a beer at the bar thinking it would catch someone's attention that they seated us and no one had came yet but it did not. Waited another 10 minutes. An older couple comes and is seated a booth away from us. Right away they are helped and getting their order taken. We finally got up, went to the bar and asked how many workers there was on tonight and then they wanted to act concerned and ask where we had been seated. We just left. Will not be returning. If you want to seat people then you should plan to help and take their orders as well. Worst customer service ever! read more

Ordered one tenderloin, and 3 burger baskets. Took 30 minutes to get, tenderloin was good two of the burgers where good. One burger was RAW! When asked about it the server said that's how they are prepared. Worse service I have ever gotten here! read more

I have been to Toby K's a bunch of times so for Mother's Day I wanted to treat my mom to a good burger thought TK would be a good place. I was so embarrassed when we waited 1.5 hours after ordering our food to receive it. We were only checked on once during our wait and when asked if they knew how long they were not sure. I asked what could have taken so long when three tables came in and ordered 30mins after us were served and ready to leave. they said they had reservations and to go orders to fulfill. I didn't know reservation meant your food is priority I thought it meant you got a table. same with to go orders, why would they receive priority over customers already there waiting. over all very disappointed. oh and shame on me for asking because after asking the head waitress was very rude to us. maybe she needed to take a few more fireball shots with her friends. read more

Best little place in Boone, I didn't know this place existed for about 6 months but now that I found it I cannot image going without. I eat there 2-3 times a week and everything g is excellent. The daily specials are excellent and the food! Forget about it, delicious from the burgers to Philly cheese steak to hot beef on Friday. They make their own ranch and it is the best anywhere. I have never had anything that was not delicious. The staff is very friendly and provide excellent service. Best hole in the wall around. read more

We were visiting our son in Ames and are big racing fans. We took my son and his girlfriend to dinner at Toby K's Hideaway and it was great! The racing atmosphere was amazing. Old door skins on the ceiling and all over and tons of memorabilia. Our waitress was good and our food came fast. The portions and the prices were both very reasonable. When we were about to leave, Toby came by our table and visited for a moment and made sure everything was good. When he found out we were racing fans, he even offered us tickets to Marshalltown Speedway. Unfortunately, we were leaving and not able to make it back on this trip but we will be back to both Toby's Hideaway as well as Marshalltown Speedway!!!! Ok for a little dive bar with not the best curb appeal (sorry) it's got very solid bar food. Huge selection of apps , burgers, fried chicken, very good bar food and great prices. Great race bar in Boone will show all types of racing and great bar food. Have tried different things and my favorite is the chicken sandwich or tenderloin both come grilled or breaded. They have punch cards for food and drinks. Way worth the drive from AMES for good service and good food read more
