I had an extremely disturbing situation with this doctor. Please beware with yourself or a family member after hearing about my experience as their patient. Protect your privacy and do not allow Dr. Toby Bond to do what he did to me, to you.
On Jan 3, 2018 I visited this practice and was an established patient. I've seen the Nurse Practioner the times I've been there, and have been happy with her. This day, after the medical assistant took my blood pressure etc, made me aware NP would be in soon. About 3-4 minutes later a lady came into my room, said she had some questions today, I said, "sure no problem". She verified all personal details with full name, address, contact details. She then asked me detailed questions about my medical history, too many questions to list. One for example was, "Have you ever been diagnosed with depression, if so when and by who"?
The NP came in shortly after, the "lady" left the room, with a smooth transition. I didn't question anything at this point, and it felt normal. After we completed our appointment I was instructed out, and I began exiting. At this point, before I entered the lobby and was still in the back, I was reapproached by the "lady in scrubs" that was previously in my room. She said, I'll need to finish up with you now, she waved me into another room/office. This wasn't an exam room, had another lady in scrubs, and a desk. She quickly, recaps a lot of the things I had told her, filled out more paperwork. She ask me to initial a paper, so that she could "do my swab". I asked what was that, and did the doctor have to have this? Was in mandatory that I do this? The conversation quickly became hostile, and a tag team approach by the "two ladies in scrubs". I said, "ok no problem, let me just go and ask the NP why I had to do this". It felt very intimidating at this point. I showed myself out of the room, went around the corner, I couldn't locate the NP, but did quickly see the original medical assistant that helped me first. I asked, "Hey, what is this lady talking about, what do I have to do"? She shrugged, and said she was sorry ignore that lady, that she doesn't even work there. What??!!! I thought. How could that be? I left shaken. Followed up that afternoon with a phone call to find out what had happened to me, and who this person was. I got no answer and was directed to speak with the office manager which was not in that day. I called back the next day the office manager was in. I explained to her I was upset about this. She asked me to hold. I held five minutes or so. Dr. Bond picked up and said could he help me. I explained that I only wanted to know what happened, who got my information I provided, and who the person was. He began to raise his voice and literally yell over me that "I was free to not provide a swab because that was my right as an "American", he said to me. I asked nicely, I understand that, but who was this person that you sent into my room. He said, that was his call and none of my business how he runs his practice. He sounded very matter of fact and egotistical, not willing to explain anything to me. The call with him went nowhere.
I followed up the next day with a certified letter to this doctor with the same questions, along with visiting my local sheriffs department filing a police report that my personal identity had been compromised and what happened. I received a generic letter the next week, my name completely misspelled, telling me this practice would no longer see me as a patient. I never found out what happened to me that day. My patient/doctor relationship was completely violated by this doctor.
I waited 60+ days before reviewing this doctor, to give adequate time for a simple answer/explanation. I never received any feedback. Do not trust this doctor. There is something very wrong happening, or he would not have acted the way that he did, himself. There are plenty of good, honest doctors in our city. Find someone that will respect you, respect your right to privacy. My privacy is not "his decision". read more
