I can't say enough about this place. Best wines we tried in Paso. Just about everything they put in front of us was excellent. Complimentary tastings. Very friendly and jolly staff. We ended up becoming members simply because it was the best selection for the price. This is a must stop winery if you are here for the wines and the pricing. The grounds and decor resemble an old saloon but the grounds are small and not the best view for picnicking. You basically come here for the wine and the deals. That's it. I am so happy this was our last stop in our wine tour bachelorette party. Not only was this place the most fun, it had a variety of delicious affordable wine, and we were helped out by Justin who added so much to the experience. the ambiance was so inviting and friendly. it was well laid out with plenty of room for tasting and space to mingle with all the ladies. Justin started us off by taking time with each of us to figure out which wines we would most like, and giving everyone great recommendations. He really knew what he was talking about. It was so fun to have such an engaging host that went along with our bachelorette games and even suggested a great wine that everyone enjoyed. There were spaces outside to enjoy our wine onsite and gave us great backgrounds for all our pictures. Definitely worth it! read more

This place was hoppin' on Thanksgiving day when we went. We were afraid there wasn't enough space for all of us, but the owner said he would make room for us and serve us wherever we wanted. The tasting was FREE which is incredible because there were, like, 20 wines to try. I was really sad to see that most people weren't leaving tips, though, for the people pouring the wines. Don't forget to tip, people! After we left we took some photos in the vineyard, because the leaves were turning a beautiful red/orange color! It was a really great way to spend our afternoon on Thanksgiving, and we will definitely be back when we are in the area. read more

Stopped by to pick up wine for our wedding. They are super friendly and accommodating. Reservations aren't required and you can walk up to the tasting bar and ask for as many tastings as you'd like (free of charge!). The sparkling wine is DELICIOUS. Definitely on the sweeter side, but crisp and refreshing. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely return if we're in the area again. read more

This is one of the most famous wineries in the Paso region so we decided to give it a try during our tour of the region. The great things about the tastings, was they were all free! The only bad thing was after all those tastings, we didn't find a wine that was a must have so we left empty handed. Fun, good wine, great welcoming feel. I highlighted this winery in my monthly newsletter on our trip to Paso. This winery embodies the elements of Paso Robles where people just want to come, relax and have a good time. The descriptions of their wines were simple enough for anyone to get the gist of them too like, "Layers 'n' layers of juicy Zin flavors," "Berries and Smoke with a wild spicy finish'" "A dark, inky fruit bomb with great structure." My favorite though was their Late Harvest "Liquid Love." Lol! A lot of other wineries seemed to really know Tobin James too either because of the amazing wild party he threw or the time they worked there. It was a super fun stop. We bought a few bottles there and it's a place to pick up some items to take back with you too. They have a nice gift shop. read more

This was our favorite winery of all those we visited in the Paso Robles area. It is so cute with the fireplace outside and the sunburst Tobin James logo everywhere. The wines are good and the tasting is free. We joined the club and just got our first shipment with a set of floor mats as bonus gifts. If you join the club, you get 20% off in the gift shop, which is pretty expensive, probably about 20% over-priced, but the wine is inexpensive for the quality, some of you can only get by joining the club. My favorite souvenir? An empty oak barrel from there that will either get cut in half and become two planters, or a tall bar table with a glass tabletop. read more

We love Tobin James! I've been coming here for over 7 years. My husband and I live in Los Angeles. We love going up to the Central Coast and Tobin James is a must! Every. Single. Time. Today Charleen was our sommelier. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. She did some great pairings for us. Steak with a Red and Chocolate with the port. Plus she even mixed their sparkling with a couple of the wines. It was a pleasurable experience as always. They were having a great deal on the Resling and the red blend so we had to leave with a case and 4 other bottles. The James Gang Reserve are all delicious and the desert wines are all yummy! I highly recommend this winery. Even though wine tasting is free, they do not skip out on the tasting. Try as few or as much as you want. Your server will find ones that you fancy based on your palette. read more

Just spent a fantastic weekend at one of our favorite places in Paso. Spent two nights in the Tobin James room at the guest house. One of the nicest rooms in all of Paso, so relaxing and comfortable. Fun wine tasting and it's free so obviously that means it's pretty busy & crazy even during low season. We loved the free arcade games for my son and the sparkling grape juice tasting. We ended up buying him a bottle which he absolutely loved having a glass of at dinner during our vacation. They also sell other snacks and sodas if you need a little something besides wine. free tastings!!! also, friendly staff and interestingly decorated interior! they had a very good array of a variety of wines to taste, they gave generous pours, and the pricing is very reasonable. we bought two of the dream weaver sparkling wine and one bottle of the riesling. they were $12 each. only downside is we couldn't bring our dog in to the tasting room. we did, however, hear them offer to someone else that they could bring the tastings outside for them to enjoy on the patio. we will most definitely be back next time we're in paso! read more

Have loved this place since our fast trip to Paso years ago. It sat across the highway like a colossus and dragged people in, coming to town or heading out of it. The wines are mediocre to good, and the beauty is that they will let you try some of their super-premiums that you wouldn't necessarily consider taking home and suddenly you've got two more supes and have to start contemplating a new winerack when you get home. Or maybe... just get home and drink em. Best for red and even better for big zins. And if you really love love, but dont want that drive to Paso? Check the bins at Costco; every now and then, we'll find something wonderful. Ballistic at Costco? Sign me up! One of the things I like best about the winery is the tasting room, unless it's swamped, takes very good care of you. You'll come away with some new wines and a new wine friend :) read more

This place feels more like a country themed bar instead of a winery! LOVED the atmosphere in here. They had lots of bars for their tastings, some arcade games and a mini gift shop section. Tastings are free here too and because it was my birthday, the guy pouring our wine gave us some special pours of what he called The Babymaker LOL! It was like Champagne mixed with some red wine, not bad. I wish this place stayed open later because not only can I imagine it being packed, but the front had a super cute patio area I could picture people chilling with some wine.
