My 75yo parents were approved as adopters and had set up an appointment to meet with and bring home a dog, planning to drive 3 hours to go pick up the pup. At 9pm the night before they got a text advising that the foster had decided to keep the dog, 2 days after setting up the appointment. At no point had we been advised that the foster was considering keeping the dog, and the foster had in fact sent many pictures trying to convince mom and dad to adopt the pup. But they were quick to state there were plenty of other dogs availabile to adopt.. .. all too big for my parents to handle at 75 years old.. when I contacted the rescue agency to ask them to never contact my parents again they advised me they didn't realize that it was such a big deal... when isn't driving 3 hours to adopt a dog anything other than a big deal ? Especially at 75??? Clearly this group only wants to adopt out dogs when it suits them. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS IF YOU VALUE THE LIVES OF THE ANIMALS THEY CLAIM TO RESCUE. There's far more that goes on behind the scenes at this place than I could remotely begin to put here, but here's some highlights to consider: They're running a mill operation, bringing in dogs and cats to turn a quick profit, many of which are coincidentally of the same litters (how could several full litters be left for rescue on a weekly basis?) They do not provide or seek medical care for any of the animals and they have no issue adopting out severely sick animals with zero regret or remorse. They're burying animals that die in their kennels and condos right outside their locations. Last I checked, deceased animals from a "non-profit" are supposed to be disposed of and documented with a veterinary clinic. They are not spaying/neutering the animals (which is required of them) and are lying to potential adopters. Recently, a cat was provided an ultrasound due to a severe URI and UTI and was found to have not been spayed, which was another lie from these people. They take in as many animals as possible so they can turn them around for profit and not for the betterment of the animals. They will 100% gamble the life of 30% of their stock if it means the remainder will bring in an extra dollar. They are selling the donated food right back to the public providing the charitable donations. On top of that, they are not staffing their location(s) regularly to ensure the animals are cared for and supervised. There's more than this going on here and it's truly disgusting. The "owners" of this operation are profiting off the lives of these animals regardless of their health, rolling around in their brand new luxury vehicles and fighting the people who only seek to improve the lives of these animals. Should Hell be absolute, there is a very special set of seats reserved for these people. read more

I adopted a cat from To The Rescue and it was such an easy process! I first started out as his foster and we fell in love. We weren't sure if we were going to be able to get our dogs adjusted to him and the rescue gave us all the time we needed to make a decision! He had a slight upper respiratory infection and we were able to get meds through the rescue. We loved him and adopted him. To The Rescue helped us add another friend to our pack! It was such a great process and I would definitely recommend fostering as well to ensure the pet is the right fit for you! read more

My first experience with To The Rescue was fine. Unfortunately, my second experience was horrible. I was given a cat with Feline Herpes and this was not disclosed to me before I signed the adoption contract. I noticed a few days after I brought her home, her eyes had a lot of drainage. She developed ulcers in her eyes, she kept squinting and coughing. She was being fostered at the time and someone had to know about her condition, because her symptoms were very evident. After confirming she had Feline Herpes with the vet, I contacted Brittany. I sent her pictures of the cat so she could see how sick she looks and what I was referring to. She responded by telling me that Feline Herpes is common and that 80 to 90 percent of cats have this. I have been trying to reach Brittany for several months to return the cat and obtain a full refund, but she ignores my calls and text messages. This is so unfair to me, because I did not want this responsibility and I cannot afford my cat's treatment throughout her life. Her condition should have been disclosed to me and I should have been given a choice whether or not I wanted a cat with special needs. Brittany clearly does not care about her clients. It only takes a few minutes to respond to a call or text. Shame on you!! I really thought you were a decent person. I do not want to hear any excuses for how busy you are and why you have not had time to contact me. The right thing to do would be to honor my refund. read more

I've tried contacting To The Rescue multiple times and received no response. It's not clear to me why they have the time to log on to Yelp and argue with people who give them bad reviews, but they don't have time to contact any of us? I would encourage people to look elsewhere. read more

DO NOT USE THIS RESCUE! They are the most unprofessional rescue I have ever seen. I sent in an application to adopt saber but when I brought my dog up to the petco he didn't really get along with him so I asked to see "Cupcake." Here are my problems with this rescue: 1.they never asked to see records for my dog. The "manager" claimed that someone called my vet to verify records but I have confirmation from my vet that that never happened. 2. The cat they gave me literally had ring worm all over his body and they didn't know so therefore I didn't know and had the cat around my dog for a day and a half. 3. They offered to give me medication for the ringworm, but after setting a time to meet, the volunteer didn't show at the petco, called me, and literally had me go into the adoption center and rifle through their stuff by myself until I found what I needed. 4. I had the cat in quarantine and noticed black stuff in his ears. Took him to the vet, found out he had residual ear mites and was a BOY and not a female like I had been told. 5.when I called the "manager" about all this she told me "ringworm gets treated the same way whether you go to a vet or not" and "ringworm goes away whether you treat it or now" mind you, ringworm can be painful, cause cracked skin and that skin can become infected with bacteria if not treated. When I suggested that the rescue get a vet to work with she scoffed and said "that's not how it works." There are plenty of shelters and rescues that work with vets so that is how it works. 6.when the volunteer did not show up to give me the medication she asked me if I could keep the cat (well no one is here so who am I going to give him to???) I said yes then she proceeded to hound me about paying the adoption fee and telling me that there are other applicants for the cat (did you tell those applicants that the cat has ringworm and ear mites residuals??) 7.I've also been told that this rescue has been kicked out of a previous petco. 8.they clearly don't care about animals because if they did, they wouldn't have a cat for adoption without being vetted first. 9.the "manager" also told me "we've never had an animal with ringworm before." Then why did you have antifungal medication prescribed for Sammy that you gave me???AND ITS EXPIRED!!! read more

I truly feel sorry for the animals who have to go to this establishment. I have sent over 5 messages via Facebook and 4 applications online. Both to adopt and foster over the past 2 months and I haven't heard a response. There a numerous posts of the same dogs claiming you all need emergency fosters but no response? Seems absolutely absurd to me. To make matters worse when I commented on the post about me not hearing back from anyone I was told to send another message. Did I get a response. NO! The unprofessionalism is ridiculous. I will be reaching out to find the business owner of this establishment and file a formal complaint. Nonresponsive to any messages. Followed their process; pick a puppy, submit adoption contract and so they can't review it, wait 1-2 days. Didn't hear anything. So I've messaged, emailed, sent messages on Facebook and I've gotten 0 responses. What's the point of having it online? Just tell people to go to events if they want to adopt from you. Also, I was sent a message to remove this review, even though it is truthful and followed THEIR procedure for adoption. Please, if you're going to adopt through here, don't waste time online. Go to events!! Or go to Last Chance Animal Rescue. Oh, and this person commenting keeps adding things to the response below that were NEVER ever told to me before, both in private or in the response I finally got when someone did respond. Maybe that would've been nice to have been told a long time ago but none of that was ever mentioned before?? (also I don't even believe her because I asked two different people to be references). I recently adopted a kitten from this rescue, and I have never seen such a mess. We as a country accept a sort of used car/buyer beware attitude that lets rescues like this one get away with murder. They disclose NOTHING to the point that they outright lied. My sweet orange tabby kitten was adopted out previously (something I was not told until after adopting her with no reason why she was returned). Turns out she was not 10 weeks (14-16 weeks), she was terribly sick (vet and urgent care vet costing me over $600, not to mention the HUGE risk to my elderly cat), NO SHOTS OR VET CARE PRIOR TO ADOPTING HER OUT, and you wanna know the mystery reason why she was returned?? They told the previous owner she was MALE. They literally just shoved her in a window and somehow they're helping? Absolutely ridiculous and negligible care for the animal or new owner. The heartache of you new baby hating you because their first memories of you are dragging them to the vet and forcing them to take medicine. Not to mention they are just spread animal illness. They aren't Saints. They're negligent and aren't held to any standards of accountability. read more

Please do NOT go to this rescue, They adopted my dog out to several people knowing that I was coming to get her in order. Then, after a week, I reached out after another hopeful parent called me and said that the puppy was not a bull terrior/lab mix but a great dane as their paper work said. "We were never given copies or a receipt of purchase $350.00. and asked if another prospective parent would still be interested and was told as our contract stipulates that after financial transaction you can not adopt your puppy out or give to your friend without them getting the dog back free of charge. She also said that the women she brought uninvited and employed as a foster mom whom I thought was the owner which she denied called the police and said I hit her in the head. I'm 4'8" and she is a foot taller as we showed police the video tape so cop understood as I was trying to reach out to the community to be aware of puppy milling and fraud. They are unprofessional and unsafe for your children and pets. Keep them away from your family. Or even better, close them down. Thank you, Your neighbor and concerned parent for everyone especially little children they disappoint. They can't adopt out a puppy to 6 people and not know. She's as fake as she appears. Do not adopt with this organization. This organization refuses to respond by phone or email. I have sent multiple requests to get no answer. We adopted Totoro (Topaz) on 27 Sep from them and a week later our veterinarian informed us that he has feline leukemia and should have never been adopted out. We contacted To the Rescue to inform them so the other cats that were with Totoro would be tested. Still no response. Our veterinarian performed a second test to confirm and he does have feline leukemia and stated the kitten only had about 6 months to live. read more
