CONSUMER BEWARE GETTING YOUR CAR WORKED ON AT PEP BOY'S @ 4500 SAINT BARNABAS ROAD, MARLOW HEIGHTS,…read moreMD 20748. After paying $1,000 to Pep Boys for a diagnostic, spark plugs, and ignition coils about 2 days later the "check engine" light displayed and a new message came on (power system service urgent with 2 red symbols, appeared only after they worked on my car... SMDH!! I had to take my car back twice in less than a month and now my car is worse. 1st time the mechanic said it was the same code but a different reason "emission related need purge valve and evap canister". Then I submitted a complaint, then took my car back a 2nd time. Now, they alleged the same code but reason my check engine light came on again was due to defective parts (ignition coil and spark plug) they put in my car. Plus, the new message that appeared after they did the initial work on my 2008 Volvo, is indicating I need an alternator. Mighty funny the first diagnostic and 2nd diagnostic never indicated nothing was wrong with my alternator but now after they have worked on my car three times less than a month it's a problem now.....WOW!. Again, poor practices!! Although the service manager told me my car would be fixed free of charge the second time, yet the cost of the alternator is on me after they fu$ked my car up! Stating the alternator is unrelated to the warranty work. But the service manager Khalil initially told me that my car would be fixed free of charge was a strategy to get my car there so the mechanic could look at it and come up with a suspected manipulated inspection report. Then the service manager Khalil hit me with the alternator is my responsibility. Ultimately, after I picked up my car, my car cut off less than 15 minutes after leaving Pep Boys and had to get towed to my house. I'm just pissed now my car is parked, must get it towed to another shop and pay more money to get it fixed. Now I'm skeptical if in fact the initial work on my car was necessary and whatever the mechanic did has caused other problems....my overall experience at this Pep Boys location is scam and sham! This location and the manager and mechanics need to be investigated for their practices. Especially if minority women are target consumers for their bad practices. I saw another customer's review regarding being without her car for months due to tire work this location did, another reason why I will continue to get my story out. I will be pursuing the following course of action with BBB and Maryland Consumer Protection Agency, and in any other avenue I can to get my story out in the news. It's a lot to do but it is worth it, bringing this to light might have others speak out about their experiences with this location...they need to be exposed!!

We found Ancash Roadside Assistance on Yelp and called because they had such great reviews. He answered immediately, sent me a location-sharing request, and arrived in about 20 minutes. After spending nearly two hours stranded on the side of the road, that level of responsiveness was a huge relief. Once he arrived, he got right to work and had the tire changed in less than 15 minutes. The entire process was quick, efficient, and stress-free, and we were safely back on the road much faster than expected. My only suggestion for improvement would be to introduce yourself before getting started. It was dark, and we were two women stranded on the side of the highway. When he arrived, he pulled up behind us and immediately started changing the tire without introducing himself. I genuinely appreciated the urgency and willingness to jump right in and get the job done, but in that situation, a quick introduction would have gone a long way in helping us feel more comfortable and know that the person approaching our vehicle was the roadside assistance we had called. Overall, though, the service was excellent. He showed up when we needed help, worked quickly, and got us moving again in no time. If you're stranded with a flat tire and need someone reliable, I would definitely recommend Ancash Roadside Assistance.

There was no work on our car until Friday afternoon. That 10 hour job turned into 2 weeks. The mechanic Lonzo who worked on our car should never EVER touch another car again because once he finally completed the job. The shop called and told us that he broke the shifter cable and the part they ordered would not be in until that next Monday and the car would be ready by close of business on Monday. Monday came and they said it would not be ready until the next day which was Tuesday. Tuesday came, still no car. Finally they called and said the car was ready today which is Wednesday. We picked up the car and got down the street and the check engine light was on. When turned around and went back, they had closed. Auto Zone's diagnostics said our car was operating on less than six cylinders out of 8. As of this moment, we are sitting in the middle of the street because the car completely shut down. Lonzo couldn't have known what he's was doing. Now, we cannot start the car, turn the alarm off or anything. The owner Lou has lied from day one. He said it would be $750 and only take 3 days (which other garages stated that it should have only been a 10-hour job. The office personnel (Lou and manager Jeanette) will lie to your face with every breath they take just to get rid of you for the moment. Things never come to fruition with them. The only person that was honest, professional and compassionate was another mechanic named Roy. He came to rescue us minutes ago and called a tow truck for our car, got us home and offered to pick us up the next morning. Unfortunately, he was the only one that gave a damn that we were scheduled to move out of state tomorrow morning. Now we have to alter everything because of the incompetency of Lonzo and the cold-hearted attitude of the owner Lou. He was rude and said "I change themI don't check them". I told him I would buy the tire no matter what but he ignored me. Turns out it wasn't the tire it was the valve in the stem. We barely made it to our destination before it was totally flat again. Put a new valve in it and it was fine. For $150 you can't include a new stem? These guys are dangerous. They must get paid per tire because they rush and care about nothing but the money.

This definitely put a dent in my pockets and day but I didn't waste no time replacing my tire. Unfortunately, even though I got a new tire I still needed the rim repaired which I've procrastinated since then. I did my research trying to locate a rim repair shop and found a lot but never had time to go plus it definitely wasn't cheap as I compared pricing. This past Sunday, I happened to be in the area of one of the places I found in DC and decided to go get an estimate for a future repair. I will say this place is in a not so safe area if you're not use to being out here but no worries you should be fine just come when it's sunny out unless you're a DC native. Don't let the outside steer you away because this is definitely worth getting tires, repairs, etc. I met one of the repair guys named Louis who gave me an estimate and said he could do all my tires in an hour. I was hesitant at first because I wasn't prepared to do this that day but the price and timing was in my favor so I said why not. Louis kept me informed about what was being done as well as showing me his progress. He answered all my questions and made sure I was pleased with his work. This shop is definitely busy and those men work extremely hard and waste no time. For a Sunday, they stayed open later than I expected and I'm grateful for it. I'm blessed to be able to find this place and get such an amazing result for a great price. I definitely will come back if I have to but hopefully no time soon because I refuse to deal with another pothole lol. Last, the before and after is insane (in a good way).
