I had heard CBT-I treatment was a very difficult journey so I asked before starting with them if it was ok to email between sessions to ask questions because I knew I was going to need that support and was told yes. I wrote about 3 or 4 emails in between sessions asking simple questions in the 6 weeks of treatment and never got a response until just the day before our session was scheduled. The responses I would get wouldn't even be thorough as questions were left unanswered. It felt it was offensive and disrespectful to be charged $165 per 50 minutes sessions and then not receive the courtesy of a prompt email response when "Help" was the subject line because I was struggling with the treatment. I was told my sleep was going to improve and be normal in 4 weeks and nothing happened in the 6 weeks I was there, in fact it just got worse. I learned later that CBT-I can take months to improve someone's sleep, so why give away false hope like that? It just made me stress more about my sleep, which then affected its quality and improvement. CBT-I for insomnia is an incredibly difficult treatment and for $165, a minimum support should be a sleep therapists' top priority, as it was when I started working with a another sleep therapist. Also, during sessions, Vyga Kaufmann seemed aloof and distracted at times, not listening deeply to my feedback and concerns. A sleep therapist/coach should be personable and deeply empathetic, 2 characteristics she lacked greatly. There were many moments I was clearly distressed from the treatment and she avoided looking at me or offering comforting or supportive words. I recommend trying another place, insomniacoach.com offers a great treatment online!
