Dr was dismissive and condescending, said MRIs were unimportant and many people who have my conditions of aging have no pain at all.

This is an updated/new review & summary; consolidated from my initial 2 updates on this business…read more Based on the customer service I received from upper management, I have increased the stars from 1 to 3. **Issues I encountered: Upon moving into the new space on campus, I noticed an immediate downshift in customer service. Medical records weren't referenced appropriately and I had to provide the same information on each visit, front desk staff were oblivious to folks waiting to check in and overall just made the experience quite poor. I sent an email with detailed examples and feedback which made it to the executive director (more on this further down in review). I also encountered an issue when I was issued a Strasbourg sock for my plantar fasciitis, which I was being treated for during the course of 3-4 months. I knew going into the office visit that the sock was $30-$40 anywhere else, either in local retail stores or online at various retailers, and figured there would be markup for receiving this from my physician's office. Turns out there was a 460% markup on it,,,beyond what any reasonable person should expect. I had a conversation with both the DME company (who sets the price) and the physicians office (who failed to provide information on the cost of the item when it was so exorbitant). Long story short, I wasn't happy and expressed my severe disappointment with both parties. The feedback was also escalated up to the exec director at CUSM. **What I love about CUSM: Dr Ballentine and my Physical Therapist, Rhadika. They're both absolutely amazing. **Resolution Update as of 11/20/15: In both situations, I spoke with the executive director. He was very patient and thoroughly listened to my feedback. In terms of the initial issue I encountered (which was reported a couple months before the DME issue), he was very transparent and sincere in his feedback and assured me that these items would be addressed. His prompt reply back to my concerns and assurance that my concerns were valid and would be addressed were incredibly appreciated. Regarding the DME issue...I had escalated the issue up the chain at the company and only became more frustrated with their sincere lack of customer service (DJO Global). Upon sharing my feedback with CUSM, the ED phoned me back, listened to my concerns and escalated the issue to the account manager with whom they work at the company. After conversation with him, my billing issues were resolved and I am completely satisfied with the outcome. **Lesson: Anytime you are given any DME item from your physician's office, do not leave their office until they provide you with an exact cost of what you could (and likely will) be billed for that item...this will allow you to make an informed decision. Don't assume that the items they provide to patients aren't marked up exorbitantly and that you won't be taken to the cleaners. For customer service issues, politely and professionally share your concerns with management. You'd be surprised what can be done. **Bottom Line: I probably won't be returning to CUSM for future sports medicine treatment, however they made very concerted and productive efforts to resolve my issues. Take what you want from this and make your own informed decision.

This is the worst scheduling and call system I've ever dealt with at a doctor's office. And to add insult to injury, the message you have to listen to is literally infuriating with the most annoying voice telling you not to call back, but they'll get back to you within one to two business days. They will not, by the way.

I'm sharing my experience in the hope it helps others make informed decisions…read more I initially had a positive experience at Boulder Regenerative Orthopedics. The first physician I worked with, Dr. Cummings, recommended starting conservatively with PRP and shockwave therapy. That treatment appeared to be effective--particularly in reducing tightness and scar tissue in my IT band. After that physician left the practice, my care transitioned to the primary doctor/owner, Dr. Mazzola. At that point, I was strongly encouraged to pursue stem cell therapy, which was presented as highly effective--particularly for healing tears and restoring function. Based on those discussions, I moved forward with the procedure, with the understanding that it could significantly improve my condition. Unfortunately, my experience did not match those expectations. One year later, after stem cell therapy, following the post-treatment protocol, daily PT, and deep tissue massage, follow-up imaging has shown no improvement, and in some respects, my condition appears to have worsened. In addition, the treatment was very costly and not covered by insurance, making the lack of results especially difficult. I want to be clear that regenerative medicine is a developing field, and outcomes may vary. However, I believe it's important for patients to have a balanced understanding of the limitations, uncertainty, and variability of stem cell treatments, particularly given the financial investment involved. If you are considering this route, I would strongly encourage: Seeking multiple medical opinions Asking for evidence specific to your condition Carefully weighing expected outcomes against cost There may be value in some of the more conservative therapies offered, based on my earlier experience. But I would urge caution and thorough due diligence before proceeding with more advanced and expensive interventions.

Dr. Mazzola is incredible. He's the guy to see for any orthopedic injury. He's a miracle worker.read more

It's been 24 hours and the shot and anti-inflammatory has reduce my pain quite a bit and I can walk again at least. Thank you so much Foot & Ankle Care. You guys are awesome!

I have a high deductible health insurance plan so when figuring out an mri that was affordable to me she treated me like a second class citizen. The office is extremely outdated and dark. When someone goes to the doctor and they're paying a lot of money they just want to be heard and get help. This place was just an overall bad experience and it made me upset and sad. Would not recommend UPDATE: the doctor called me and reassured me I needed surgery and tried to schedule me. I got a second opinion and the newer doctor asked me "what was she thinking?!" IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!!!…read more I've been dealing with pain in my left knee for 30 years. It started when I was marathon training in 1988, and my knee hasn't been right since. I've been to an acupuncturist, a chiropractor, and a few other osteopathic doctors. The only thing that provided any relief were a series of steroid shots into my knee. These provided relief for an increasingly shorter period of time. The last time I had them my pain relief lasted about 3 months. For the entire 30 years of my medical treatment providers have been telling me that I have osteoarthritis, and that's what they've been treating. I visited this clinic several months ago, and they did x-rays which indicated that my problem is not osteoarthritis. The only problem is that my leg muscles are too tight! Joanne Halbrecht, the doc, manipulated my legs and determined that that's the only problem I have. She recommended I see a physical therapist, so I went to Katie Gaven at Boulder Higher Health. Katie recommended a series of stretches which I do every other day. These stretches reduced my pain by about 80%. I returned to Joanne with this report of 80% improvement. She recommended a daily regimen of glucosamine pills (a mixture of glucosamine, turmeric, etc). Since taking these my knee pain is almost non-existant. After thirty years of pain! THIS IS TRULY A MIRACLE. Bonus points: (1) The clinic sent me treatment summaries after each of my two visits. I've never had a doc do that before. I now have a record of what transpired in case I need it for whatever reason. (2) Joanne is a No-BS doc. When I asked her why my right knee, with equally tight leg muscles around it, didn't hurt, she said, "I don't know." How refreshing is that! (3) They have Sports Illustrated and free energy bars in the waiting area. (4) They send patients a satisfaction survey after the first visit. (5) Emily, who does the x-rays and information taking, is friendly, efficient, and competent. I've never been more satisfied with a medical professional than I am with Joanne and her staff. I give them my absolutely HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

As a highly active forty-four year-old rock climber and triathlete, I was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in my left hip. I continued to do sports at a high level; however, my pain became increasingly difficult to manage, and I eventually reached out to Dr. Rector to discuss treatment options. He recommended Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) as the best procedure for my specific condition. It was extremely important to me that my surgeon understood my post goal surgical objective was to continue with a high level of activity as quickly as practical. I communicated my objectives to Dr. Rector, and we set goals to support my intentions. In October 2009, Dr. Rector performed Birmingham Hip Resurfacing surgery on my left hip with outstanding results. I immediately experienced relief from pain, and subsequently regained full range of motion. I returned to rock climbing and competing in triathlons within a year after my surgery. Six years after my BHR, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right hip, and in September 2015 Dr. Rector performed total hip replacement surgery on my right side. Once again my pain was almost immediately relieved, and my range of motion was virtually perfect. I was climbing in the gym eight weeks after surgery, biking at ten weeks, and running pain free eight months post operatively. At one year, my physical condition has returned 100 percent, and I have no restrictions on any of my former and present activities. I highly recommend Dr. Rector and his team at BoulderCentre for Orthopedics. I found and continue to feel that Dr. Rector treated me with extreme professionalism, and obviously I have complete trust and faith in his work. He and his team are dedicated, talented individuals committed to the health and welfare of their patients. I refer to Dr. Rector as my "Hero," and the elation that I feel rock climbing, running, and biking pain free is immeasurable. Most importantly he has helped me reacquire my former quality of life!
