Rude comments and horrible service from the staff here. I can assure you that it was unprovoked. Disappointing really, I cannot understand how a business can expect to succeed operating in such a manner - it's obvious from the other reviews this is a reoccurring theme. God AWFUL! I have never been treated so poorly in my entire life. We pay our rent early every month and when we call to ask for something to be fixed they call you and yell at you about how you are wrong for an hour. Today was the first day we moved into our new apartment in Manhattan Beach. Despite some unfortunate reviews, my experience with the staff at TMC was different as they were professional and courteous. They are all business. They were clear and up front from the moment we began doing business together. The entire transaction went like clockwork and we couldn't be happier. This management company is more that beyond rude and impersonal. After moving in and filling out a move-in checklist, the management company took over a week to fix a major plumbing issue, blaming their mismanagement on me, the tenant, for their delay in filing the work order, the plumber's truck breaking down, etc. They wanted me to "hide a key somewhere so the plumber could let himself in". They ignored my request for a rent credit while on the phone with me, slamming the phone down and putting me on hold rather than discussing the issue. The rude response I received for the concern I brought up on the phone was a great example of their ability to conduct business relationships. I couldn't even address the rent credit because the woman in charge "wouldn't talk to me". I have never rented from a more unprofessional company. read more

I have had several issues with this management company's maintenance "department" since I moved in (May 2017). The first issue was with the security entry buzzer; after multiple attempts and email exchanges my phone number was finally added to the buzzer box only to have it not work. I mean, the installer never tested it! My second issue was with the front door fixed. The door would not lock; this was urgent to me based on security. It took 2 weeks before it was finally resolved. There was no sense of urgency from the maintenance dept. I was scared everyday that my apartment would be broken into because of the unlocked door. The second issue was regarding an outlet, running toilet and window screen. I notified maintenance about these three issues all at the same time via email and received a reply. The outlet was fixed within 3 days. I had to send reminders before the toilet and window screen were fixed. In the end it took over 30 days for all the repairs; way too long for simple requests! To be clear the vendors they use to actually fix issues in my apartment are great. The issue lies with the maintenance dept at TMC. It appears that TMC maintenance does not have a tracking or follow-up process, nor does it appear that they place a priority on repairs as needed. read more

New to property management in general and was fairly alarmed by the negative reviews on here, however, I have only had great experience with them thus far. Any of our move in problems were handled in a timely fashion and they are very welcoming to both me and my roommates whenever we stop by the office. read more

They are very nice when they want to ... but the rest of the time, you are made to feel like a dumb person wasting their time. Everything is good as long as you pay your rent and never call for service. They need to get off of their high horse. read more

Plumber never showed up to fix our toilet that would not flush, along with a couple other plumbing issues. We were given a specific day, and were never contacted when the plumber didn't show. When I called to inquire about the appointment and the fact that we were not contacted at all, the owner was very short and rude over the phone. She told me, "in a perfect world plumbers would call to give an update," but the company R&R plumbing does not. She explained it's been a problem for about 30 years. read more

I've been their tenant for about two years now and I've had no problems with TMC at all. What prompted my writing this was their alacrity in handling a water problem I had last Friday. I came home from work late in the day and found that I had no running water; even though it was after hours, I received a reply minutes after texting their emergency line. They asked if I wanted to have service that night, but I demurred as it wasn't an emergency. They had a plumber out early ON A SATURDAY and he not only fixed the problem I reported, but found and remedied two other problems that I had neglected to include in my request. This is the WORST property management company ever. Monica is cold, rude, unfriendly, arrogant, and skeptical. Since my bad experience a few friends told me they had the same experience. Avoid rentals from this place, they'll put you thru the ringer and treat you poorly from the minute you walk in the door. It's an interrogation, not an interview! read more

Overall, we had a very positive experience. We rented from TMC for 1.5 years. I found the staff to be very polite and professional at all times. Maintenance was always taken care of in a timely manner and their application process is extremely fair. I was irritated that we were charged a cleaning fee upon move out after we left the place virtually spotless and I did not care for the plumber they used. Otherwise, I have no serious complaints and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a rental in the South Bay area. read more

I wish I could give them negative stars. I am a local in Manhattan Beach for almost 40 years. I attempted to rent a house that they listed. I am African-American (yes...there are a few local black people in MB...rare as we are). They asked me for 2 years of tax returns (corporate) and my deposits for the last 6 months plus the standard things that you give when you are trying to rent a house. The agent was skeptical that the data was real...even though I downloaded my statements from Wells Fargo in their office!!! I am an orthopaedic surgeon. I do ok. She then asked me, point blank, "Well, how do we know you are not a drug dealer?" I tore up my documents and left. It is AMAZING that this still happens...I was born and raised in this city, and these a**holes continue to pursue housing discrimination in this way. I thought my parents dealt with this in the late 60's...I guess I have to deal with it now. Avoid TMC at all cost. There are better agents, better companies, and better brokers in the South Bay. I leased my home in Manhattan Beach from TMC a year ago and couldn't be happier with my entire experience. I found my home on Westside Rentals. Carol, Monica & Chris are always such a pleasure to deal with. Any repairs necessary have been handled promptly and professionally. The plumber, handyman and window replacement company they've sent over have all been wonderful as well. I am very happy with them, highly recommend them and hope to lease from them until I own someday! read more

Tmc is not a company you would like to rent from. Customer service is extremely poor, especially the maintenance dept. When problems are reported, it usually takes days for things to get repaired, especially broken pipes which is a reoccurring problem at this property. Other tenants have experience major mold in a few apartments, and have been told to just use bleach to fix the problem. You are made to feel as if you are an inconvinence to them if you call to report issues. Problems do get fixed eventually, but it usually takes someone an entire day to come over and inspect the problem, leaving you waiting with the mess and home bound. Most repairs are mickey-mouse jobs and left slightly unfinished, and sloppy. I have unfinished baseboards and dropped paint all over my bathroom floor from a repair done to a leaky pipe. And it's not the only repair left like that. I highly recommend you look elsewhere to live. It's not worth the aggravation. read more
