Derrick and his crew are amazing! Not only did they provide exceptional customer service, they did…read morewhat all the other guys said was impossible - fix our fireplace chimney! A large tree fell on my mom's house mid-August during a wind storm. It caused extensive damage to the roof, a fireplace chimney and cap, and a utility chimney liner and cap for mom's gas furnace and water heater. The fireplace topper was displaced by the force of the tree falling resulted in some segments of the metal chimney in the attic below to separate from each other (see photo). I contacted many companies about a repair for the fireplace chimney and three that reviewed pictures or inspected said that it was not repairable. All three said the age of the fireplace (1970s) meant parts were not available to fix it and the whole thing, including the firebox would need to be replaced! Thankfully, I found Defender Chimney & Fireplace Services, LLC and contacted Derrick to come do an estimate for repairs of both chimneys. He came out with one of his crew for the inspection and said he could repair both chimneys. He prioritized our job because my mom is very elderly and was not able to turn on her heat until the utility chimney was repaired. It was raining the day the job was scheduled so Derrick moved our appointment to Sunday, usually a non-work day for them, because it was getting cold at night. Derrick and crew showed up, got the utility chimney repaired including a new flashing and cap, tuck pointing missing grout and replacing the liner so that mom could get the heat on. Then they worked to realign the fireplace topper and chimney segments, bolted and sealed everything together, cleaned the topper and put on a new cap. Throughout the job he treated my mom like family, was friendly, polite and professional. He was also responsive to me when I had questions from the initial inspection through sending me photos of the job and the receipt. His final repair costs matched the initial estimate, too. We were really impressed with Derrick and his crew. They deserve way beyond 5 stars !
