I was referred to TLC Madison after moving here from Iowa City. I had been looking forward to lasik since my vision had remained stable over the past few years and my home eye doctor thought I would be a good candidate at 24 years old, -2.00/-2.25 and with a slight astigmatism. I set up a hour-long consultation and they confirmed that I would be a good candidate. I travel a lot for work, but they were able to book me for an appointment a couple weeks later that fit with my travel schedule perfectly. I was pretty nervous the day of, so they let me stay until the relaxation area about an hour longer until I was ready - looking back, I had nothing to be worried about. The procedure is strange (nothing like it!) and a bit uncomfortable, but I'm writing this 2 days afterward and I CAN SEE. A couple uncomfortable seconds were absolutely worth it. I am able to get around outside with sunglasses (eyes are still a bit sensitive) and I've mastered the eye drops (something I have never been good at before now) and although I do have a little bit of redness in my left eye (from popped blood vessels) that is normal and will clear up in 2-3 weeks. I would highly recommend Dr. Probst and Dr. Kurt for anyone in the Madison area that is interested in lasik - I was treated very well and they did a thorough job of explaining what was going to happen before, during, after my surgery and why. If you have any reservations about lasik, just ask - they were able to put my mind at ease and I'm sure they'll be able to help decide if it's the right choice for you too. read more

Lied to about being a good candidate, lied to about not getting floaters, I'm in a lot of pain now, had to drop out of school because I cannot look at screens/projectors and be under fluorescent lights. My night vision is absolutely horrendous. If I don't sleep enough, it's extremely painful all day. My vision will get blurry if I touch my eyes. I feel like I have dried up contacts in my eyes 24/7 I also have SO MANY floaters now. It's torture. Please don't risk , your eyes are so important read more

TLC ruined my eyes. Don't let them ruin yours. I do not believe TLC is an ethical facility that cares about the health of their patients, but they only care about making a sale. At my consultation, I brought my last 10 years worth of prescriptions and asked a number of questions. Dr Skolaski said that I was a "great candidate" for LASIK and made any complications sound minimal, temporary and unlikely. Less than 4 months after LASIK, my astigmatism was back to what it was before LASIK. Now a year after LASIK, my eyes are still always sore and strained and burning. My left eye feels like it has a pin in it. The whites of my eyes are so full of red lines that they look yellow. At my followup appointments, Skolaski's response to my concerns was telling me to stay hydrated. The doctors I am seeing now have said this is almost certainly permanent. TLC should have told me there was a chance of this so I could have made an informed decision. I spent thousands of dollars on this surgery and since then have spent hundreds trying to find relief for my eyes. This appears to be a common outcome based on reviews I am finding online now, along with TLC's disregard for people who have negative results. They have you sign a document acknowledging a number of possible risks, but they do not tell you about these risks at the consultation, how likely they are, what you are most at risk for, or how awful it will make your daily life. A medical professional should meet a certain standard instead of just trying to make a sale. Trusting TLC is the worst decision of my life. This is miserable. read more

So just writing a long term follow up... I had Lasik done at TLC in 2001. Best money i ever spent. I didn't need an enhancement until 2015 on one eye and then 2019 on the other eye. It is now 2025 and I'm looking for an enhancement again on my right eye. My only issue is locations. I moved to Arizona and the closest one to me now is in Colorado. Unless I go back home to Wisconsin for a visit and have it done then;, which I probably will. read more

This was a terrible experience. The surgery was not successful. I still need to wear eyeglasses to see properly, and now I am also left with dry eye that my regular eye doctor says is likely permanent. I'm sure they will respond with a message saying for me to follow up with them like they did for my Google review, but they were still totally unwilling to take any responsibility. I suspect they input the wrong settings when the used the laser on my eyes, since they were extremely disorganized throughout. The first time I arrived the person who tested my eyes complained about me being sent to her out of order. Later, after the surgery, I went to an appointment to evaluate why the surgery didn't work, and the doctor admitted to not knowing I was coming. She also lied to me, and said my eyes would likely heal after surgery. Really she was just stalling past the time I could start a chargeback on my credit card for the failed surgery. She also said that fish oil and warm compresses could heal my dry eyes, which is another lie that I verified with a proper eye doctor. My neighbor also had surgery here that he regrets. In his case they failed to warn him that the surgery would make it necessary to wear reading glasses to see close up. The surgery itself was stressful. I was the last surgery of the day, and the doctor seemed stressed. The procedure was very uncomfortable. While it didn't feel the same as getting stitches, I think that makes a good analogy for the amount of discomfort that I experienced. The worst part of it all is the extraordinarily unprofessional manner of the people at their corporate headquarters who claimed that the surgery was a success, despite all evidence to the contrary. This is an evil publicly traded corporation that's been fined and sued successfully many times, including for defrauding their customers, and they don't care about doing right by their customers. While I think the procedure in general is a bad idea, if you go with someone independent, at least you won't be supporting these greedy, heartless butchers. I've also spoken with someone who has permanent eye pain because of their procedure, and I'm discovering others. Reach out to me if you had a bad experience, since together we may be able to do something about this place and prevent a great deal of suffering. read more

Also, both times I have scheduled a consult, you guys have cancelled within days and asked me to reschedule. I am 4 days out from my surgery and it is absolutely incredible with how perfect I can see! Scheduling wasn't the easiest as they had to reschedule me due to overbooking themselves and then never got back to me. However, after I reached out to them again it was an easy breeze. From the moment I walked into the Madison Wisconsin office, I could feel how they prioritized every single patient and their needs. The gal who did all my testing was such a sweetheart and answered all my questions and reassured me it was going to be the greatest decision I would ever make as she had done so years ago. Within a week we scheduled my surgery. I have very bad anxiety and dr probst and his team was very helpful with helping me through every step of the way and putting me at ease. Pros: I can see better than 20/20 now, nice staff, easy and flexible scheduling, expert surgeon, Star Trek grade laser. Cons: A little light on the info with respect to the actual procedure and what to expect afterwards. I did a ton of research before settling on TLC. I read a bunch, watched youtube videos of the procedure, and even visited multiple Lasik vendors in Madison to get a comparison. I chose TLC because they were the most braggy about their equipment and their surgeon. They have state of the art lasers and a surgeon that has done 100,000+ surgeries. They are a bit of a factory, but that's kind of what I wanted. I wanted what I considered to be major eye surgery to be just another day at the office for the guy fixing my eyes. I don't want to be practiced on, I want an expert that finds my case slightly boring. Which is where I think the source of my criticism that they were light on the info comes from. I think because they pump people out, they don't give excess info and just go through the motions. I had to ask every time what each instrument did and what they were doing, because otherwise, they didn't explain, unless asked. When asked they were happy to answer, but I wanted them to be a little more forthcoming. I was a textbook case, my vision was -3.00/-3.50 with the tiniest astigmatism in one eye. So slight that my eye doctor that I've gone to for the past 10 years never bothered to mention it to me. And now I see perfectly! The actual procedure is really cool, but also very uncomfortable. You just have to get through it. The cost is high, it's like paying for a lifetime of glasses and contacts all at once, but the ultimate convenience factor and benefits are very high. Dr. Probst did my LASIK surgery back in 2004. Both of my eyes were nearsighted with stigmatism's. Also, my pupils normally are larger in diameter and dilate close to their color edge along with tight eye sockets. Sounds like it would of been impossible doesn't it? But my options to continue wearing glasses or contacts was horrible and my eye vision was getting worse every year. Not to mention the $$$ to pay for those was very costly. The team in Madison took extra measurements to ensure my procedure would be successful. Since everyone's eyes are different, mine were a challenge that the Dr. did not rush. I heard incredible things about this procedure, but I was nervous, as I imagine most people are. However, I had an incredible experience with Dr. Probst and would highly, highly recommend him. The office staff were available to answer all my questions and walked me through the process - before, during and after surgery - in great detail and made me feel extremely comfortable. I really appreciate that they coordinate payment for all pre and post opp appointments, so you can pay once on the day of your surgery. The space is clean, the staff are friendly and I was in and out from under the laser in about 2 minutes. I felt completely safe with the doctor and knew I was in good hands. There were a bunch of other patients moving through the office that day, which also made me feel good. I had an easy recovery and could not be happier with my decision and with Dr. Probst. TLC was recommended by a few friends of mine and after some research, I was able to confidently agree that it was the place I wanted to go to. Everyone was very friendly, leading up to the surgery, during the surgery, and in the follow up exams. The surgery itself was super fast and my recovery was quick. Having my vision corrected has taken away the stress of worrying about wearing contacts while swimming or showering, or having to choose sleeping in contacts or wearing glasses while camping. It's hands down the best thing I've ever done for myself and I only regret not doing it sooner. read more

First, let me say the staff at TLC is great! They are very informative about all aspects of the procedure. They are also very knowledgeable, answering all of my questions directly. The day of the procedure was quick and painless. I was taken care of very well and guided through everything with care and concern for the entire process. After the procedure, I am able to see 20/20 or better and it is wonderful. I have been wanting this surgery for several years, but finally was able to commit to getting it done. My only regret was not doing it sooner. If you are hesitant for any reason, you at least owe it to yourself to go in for a consult to learn your options. read more

I was referred to TLC by many friends then my eye doctors opiniom was icing on the cake. So glad i took their advice as the experince was beyond top notch!!! They are wonderful people there! Very thorough with everything and i was very comfortable with my decision. Surgery was quick and painless. My perscription was average at -2.50 but now the day after im seeing 20/10 combined in both eyes and just a little itchy eyes. Unreal how different you see life after this!!! I would not recommend tlc services. They claim to have a lifetime guarantee but that is not true. If you end up with halos or starburst they can't fix them and don't refund anything. They are not FDA approved and r only n it for the money. They do not practice good business and you could end up with a bigger problem then before. read more

The morning after surgery and I am seeing 20/15! Dr. Probst, Dr. Kurt, and all of the staff, especially Tammy, were all amazing. I would highly, highly recommend this place! They were all friendly and smiley which made an anxiety filled day much more tolerable. The idea of having lasik is much more scarier than the actual procedure. I had Lasik done in 1999 and have needed enhancements. Everyone at TLC has been great to work with. I was in May 2016 for my left eye and after a couple weeks it is getting better. My past experiences have been about a month to two for me before things settled down but others seem to heal faster. I would recommend TLC with the Lifetime Warranty if this is something you would want to do. read more

My eyesight, 5 stars. However, I would give the referral program zero stars. I had referred a friend and it had been a couple months after her procedure with no $50 gift card sent to me in the mail. I had called and talked to someone, verified that my address was correct, and she explained to me that sometimes it takes a little while. She told me to call again if I still had not received the gift card in the mail. Months went by and I still did not. Two weeks ago, I called the office again questioning about the gift card. I was told that it had been sent out in August (even though the first person I had talked to didn't tell me that) and she informed me that the gift card is not sent through them, that it's in "a kind of weird looking white envelope similar to junk mail"- which insinuated to me that I had thrown it out. Mind you, I check my mail regularly and do not throw out mail without opening it. She told me that she would talk to a manager, but that that they were in a meeting. She took my phone number, which I never received a phone call back. I guess it's my word against theirs now. In the grand scheme, I realize that $50 is not that much to some... However it is all about principle now. I am very pleased with my eyesight, but their referral program should not be pushed so much if you do not in fact receive a gift card. read more
