The line moved pretty fast and we got three items -- a cinnamon raisin croissant, a pistachio cardamom bun, and a sesame sourdough loaf ($19 pre tax/tip). The croissant was absolutely delicious and hands-down the star of the show. We did not enjoy the cardamom bun (very dough-y, not much flavor, did not end up finishing). The bread was solid and had a unique flavor, but could not hold a candle to the croissant. If we are back in the area, I will be buying as many croissants as I can carry!

Inside can get pretty packed, but they always find a good table for us and our toddler where we are out of the way. We haven't eaten outside yet, but the patio looks lovely. Drinks are standard - good coffee and chai with lots of syrups. Food is hearty and a great selection. We always go with the specials and while a bit pricey, worth it. Their standard fare doesn't seem mind-blowing and I don't love that they charge extra for true maple syrup, but that's the only deduction I've run up against.

CELIAC NIGHTMARE…read more Nellie was our server. I told her from the get go that I had celiac and she responded that the owner has celiac and eats everything on the menu. I asked more questions about shared fryer, shared toaster, etc. and she quickly started getting annoyed. I ordered a patty melt. When it came out the sandwich was on rye bread. I told her that rye is gluten and she said "it's your fault. You didn't tell me you wanted gluten free bread". I told her we just had a whole conversation about celiac. So she took the plate away. 5 min later offered more coffee and when I said no she scoffed, rolled her eyes, and walked away. I asked to cancel the order because she obviously doesn't take precautions and said that the kitchen would bring a fresh plate, which they did. She also said "I'm not gluten free. How was I supposed to know?" I took two bites and immediately realized the food was off. She took my coffee off the bill and said "good luck to you". Absolutely horrendous service and woman.

This time I had the opportunity to bring my wife along and she just fell in love with the café. We ate there a couple of mornings for breakfast and a couple of days for lunch and as always great food, great people and sometimes there's a line out the door. One morning breakfast while we were in town it was so packed that a couple got up from the table, came to us at the door and invited us to sit with them. Turns out they're locals. Just want to say we are super appreciative to Tony & Ellie for asking Stephanie and I to sit with them. We now have new friends in town. Had a great breakfast. Great Fellowship. We will be back. Over the years, I think I've had everything on the breakfast menu. This trip for lunch I had the backcountry club, Philly cheesesteak, and Blue Mesa sandwich. A male food-prep worker with short, dark hair was preparing a salad in the restaurant kitchen…read more While making the salad, he deliberately SPIT into it, knowingly contaminating the food. Despite what he had done, he continued preparing the dish as though nothing had happened. After finishing the salad, the food-prep worker handed it to a waitress without telling her what he had done. The waitress, unaware that the food had been contaminated, proceeded to take the salad out to the dining area to be served to customers. This was an extremely serious violation of food-safety standards and could have put customers at risk of becoming ill. Food should always be prepared hygienically and handled responsibly, and intentionally contaminating food is unacceptable in a restaurant setting.
