They put so much compassion and effort into helping dogs find safe, loving forever homes. If you're considering adopting or want to support and donate to a wonderful local rescue, I highly recommend Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego County.

We applied for a dog online and did not hear back. We even knew someone who was part of the organization who reached out to them on our behalf. After a few weeks of attempting to get in contact with them and radio silence, we posted on their social media about our experience. They immediately blocked us and removed our posts. It's odd that they are not able to respond to inquiries but if a negative post is made on their account, they are able to attend to it quickly. We did receive a generic response after following up again via email about our application. They said they denied our application. To which I would like to understand the rationale. We own a home, someone is in the house at all times, no children, no other pets, we've had dogs in the past, and we both have professional full time jobs. It appears that they dropped the ball on communication and instead of taking accountability, they decided to decline our application. We even offered to adopt an additional dog that they said was attached to the one we wanted so we didn't have to split them up. It seems extremely unprofessional for a business that is supposed to care for dogs and find them good homes. I see someone else has had a similar experience based on the reviews here on Yelp. I would appreciate some accountability from this organization. I'm glad to see that other people have had good experiences because at the end of the day, these animals deserve good homes. I just worry about this organizations ability to deliver on this mission.

Hello, My dog, who is now resting in a better place, and is…read morein other reviews for grooming places etc.... Ava. I believe I should have written Fuzzy Feet Dog Rescue and asked to be a foster mother temporarily instead of jumping the gun. They were helpful when I met them at PetSmart off College in Oceanside, CA on Sunday when they have rerecurring adoption events outside. It is a great starting set up and their accommodations intertwined with PetSmart really made me feel as though I was going off on the right foot with a new puppy pal, who I named Bella. She is approx. 4 months old and she was a stray in Mexico, from what I was told, and I did not take into consideration whether I would be the one to be able to mother my two children and take her to her training because she really is worth it. She is amazing, adorable, LOVING! dog. She wanted my love every single day whether I was stressed or not she managed to do better than I did some days. I really feel as though I let her down by not being able to keep her because I was able to get her to walk around outside without trying to run up inside the Condo right away, which she did try to do for the first few days. Everyone interested in going to the humane society should know there is a difference between a stray dog that is found in North County or San Diego County for a day walking around or two, versus a dog who has had to fend for themselves from such a young and early age. Fuzzy Feet really helps these dogs and I can see that they give them the best they can and that is so much more than most places or a humane society who I can see putting them down because in the past they had put down a dog of mine who was 9 months old that had gotten out for less than 24 hours and they had already quarantined my animal and told me to pay for it or they have to put them down. Rescues like Fuzzy Feet Dog Rescue I really appreciate, and they also are once again like I said, linked with PetSmart in the sense that they will give you tons of coupons for free doggie day care day, free one on one training, free vet exam at participating Banfield, and tons of coupons within the store. My heart was empty after losing my dog of 14 years and I realized this was not the answer, but I do advocate for this rescue and what they are doing. I wish that they will provide seeking dog adopters with medication lists that the dog is on and that way you do not have to find out the hard way in your home that they have worms. lol. Puppys get them a lot and I realize this, granted my dog I had before never had them, but she also was never a starving stray and I know they are doing an excellent job. Here are some pictures of Bella in the car, and in the home just relaxing and being better behaved than my dog was for 14 years in the car, and she was twice as small. I did not want a full refund as it was not part of the contract but that is what they gave me. I appreciate that but I also wanted to donate to them more things I have, and I did not feel as though they were interested. Dogs from Mexico can have anxiety issues and whine for no reason and lead to chewing etc., more so than an average puppy. Bella is worth it if I did not have my work from home and Motherhood, I would have been able to do all the things she needed. She is an amazing, adorable, and a sweetheart and I pray for and her and all the dogs there with FFDR and I hope that they get adopted soon but I can say this dog Bella she responded to her name after a couple days she ate when it was time and then left it and she relaxed in the car. Thank you again FFDR. My only ask or constructive comment(s) would be to please get them tagged (it is also $15.00/fifteen dollars right now for chipping your dog at SDHS) and to take them established to a vet in San Diego County instead of over the border, and make sure that if they are on a deworming schedule I would have liked to know. Also, the paperwork had her beginnings of regular vaccinations except for the Rabies vaccine even though she was from Mexico and a stray and was living with other rescues and to help the adopter not have those fees and be able to take them to training right away without having to worry about the chipping and rabies vaccine. Bella was retreated twice in my home as well as I was concerned about her spaying job since I could not take her to the same vet as the one she was spayed at, I would not have been able to use the PetSmart coupon for free Banfield Exam and establishment of care without having to pay for the Rabies and Chipping later on, but her blue scars from it were raised and worrisome.

I decided to read the reviews and its pretty sad to see how a business owner responds to the public in such a condescending tone. Obviously complaints or any negative feedback she gets will never be handled correctly. I'm assuming the woman in the filtered pic with the bright red hair is the owner, who offers more than 1 person to "speak to a manager", I came to the pet store 3 times before finally leaving with my dog and each time I went Michael had to text the owner/manager with any questions that he couldnt answer. As another person mentioned, Michael was texting the owner and had to go back and fourth a few times with her before we were able to get everything we wanted for the price we paid. Its obvious the Owner prefers to go back and fourth through text messages with her employees. I'm glad my malamute turned out healthy but would rather not deal with them again since I see how the owner handles complaints. It's disgusting how sarcastic and unprofessional all the responses have been. Especially to Michelle H. and Lauras reviews, why even answer if it's not to make things right? Almost each person that gave a 1 star were concerned for the puppies because of the smell, poor customer service and the dirty cages. Instead of taking each review so personal and being obnoxious - Why not fix the problem? clean the cages, change the amount of puppies per cage, train your employees that they need to be interacting with customers and not eachother. Also letting people know about court dates that customers didn't show up to, screen shot conversations you guys have or breeding right disputes does not make anyone other than yourselves look foolish

Kids of all ages love this place.. The only thing I dont like about this pet store is that it's always crowded with customers. A bit too much for me but at least dogs and cats are finding loving forever-homes quickly. Is it better to shop at the humane society, a pet store or from Craigslist (people that breed animals in their backyards)? Well all of my pets came from the humane society. But going that route isn't for everyone as there can be challenges with owning pets that have been previously mistreated. It can require more time, love and patience. Unfortunately younger Americans want status and pedigree with their smartphones, Instagram pages, and their "pets". In summation, the pets at Bark Avenue always seem happy, healthy and are treated with dignity. Tip - Watch out for negative reviews from extremists who write 1 star reviews for all pet stores including Petco..

Last week it was just after 10am and we came in to look at the dogs, becuase we are interested in adopting a new puppy. No one was manning the front. NO ONE. The shop was empty and we were the only people on the sales floor. We waited about ten minutes to see if anyone would come out of the back to help us. Nobody showed... Last evening we were back at the mall, and decided to see if the puppy we were keen on was still there. He was. The shop was full of teenaged girls cooing and fawning over the dogs, and I thought surely someone will come out to help us. Nope! We couldn't figure out if any of these girls was actually working there, or if they were all just "mall kids" . Suffice it to say-the French bulldog we are interested in adopting is still there today. I work in retail myself: If I see a well dressed middle aged couple walk into me sales floor full of fawning 16 year olds, I know who I'd give my time and attention to. They lost a very lucrative sale of a French bulldog. We will be calling a reputable breeder today.

I adopted my puppy from a group of 9 puppies and she knew everything about each and every single one of them. She really takes the time to find the perfect home for each dog! You will not regret adopting! Art and Paws Animal Rescue went through all the questions about our living environment to make sure the dog was going to a right place, made sure that we were committed, not compulsive and showed us the papers with medical history and everything. We ended up adopting a senior MinPin that was mellow, independent and able to coexist with our younger big dog. They were pretty accurate in Macaroon's personality and she seems to be hitting our expectations. I like their approach in that they rescue their dogs out of shelters into foster homes so that potential adopters know exactly what the pet's personality is like in the home environment. Their fosters are also patient with the dogs and will initiate housetraining so busy adopters like my husband and I are able to get right into the home routine with the new pet. Their adoption fee is definitely more since they don't get county or city funding. Our senior dog was $150 and their younger ones are about $250. A bit high but justified since they got to provide essential vet care until the animal is adopted. I wouldn't hesistate to give them a try if you see an interesting dog from them on PetFinder. Fill out their application and someone from the group will be in contact with you in a few days.
