Excellent, friendly care! One member of my family has serious dental anxiety, and they care for them with extra kindness and concern.

I had some perio work done there, and for the most part I'm happy with the results however after care has been an issue. As with most insurance plans you get two included cleanings per year. They refuse to do them stating the periodontist will not allow them and that I must have their perio-cleanings 4 times per year at my expense. I had thought that we worked it out that i would use my two included cleanings and pay for 2 perio-cleanings but at my appointment today I was told the peeiodontist would not allow it and I had to pay or leave. I left i dont understand how doing nothing is better. Apparantly the periodontist doesn't get a cut of standard cleanings. I find this sad because I really do appreciate Val. I would liken this to taking your new vehicle in for an included oil change and the dealership refusing to do it unless you pay out of pocket for all of their other recommendations. This is wrong and NOT in the best interest of the patient. I will find a new dental practice that focuses on my needs and budget not on what makes a Periodontist that I dont ever see more money.

They sent me two of them to remind me of my appointment and I arrived at noon to find the door is locked, waited around until 12:15. Still locked. This is not the first time I have had this experienced an appointment where the office ends up being closed, it is actually the third time I have had this happen at Bright Now Dental in Palm Harbor. The dentist is nice, heck all the staff is nice. Simply can't seem to be here for the appointments that are set. Not to mention the fact that they haven't had a dental hygienist on staff in over 6months. So you can't even get regularly scheduled cleanings. Last time I scheduled an appointment for two fillings. Then they only did one of them, because the dentist was seeing another patient at the same time as me and was jumping back and forth between us. It's incredibly unorganized & I can't wait to finally pick up this night guard I spent hundreds of dollars on, so I can finally cut ties with this office. This place has really gone down hill fast! I am beyond frustrated with the communication and mismanagement of this business.

The new dentist(s) may be worthy of five stars also but I don't think it's fair that they "inherit" Dr. Ortiz's ratings. They should be required to start from scratch. I'll start by saying I don't tend to frequent anything other than privately owned and operated dental offices. Big corporations usually rotate dentists in and out so you can never develop a relationship with them. I knew Dr. Ortiz had sold his practice but was still working at Smile Design. However, They did not forewarn me prior to my last appointment approximately 6 months ago that Dr. Ortiz was no longer there and I'd be seeing someone new. The whole staff with the exception of 1 person is new. Consistency is what I absolutely LOVED about Center for Smiles. The staff never changed, they all knew you by name, and the atmosphere was like a family. The new staff couldn't even add up my total charge correctly. The receipt showed $86 but she charged my FSA card $88 & it took weeks to resolve getting that $2 put back (because you know an FSA don't play...they need to verify down to the last penny!) Ugh, I hate when a provider who was absolutely perfect either relocates or retires. Anyone have a dentist they love that you want to recommend??

The difference is significant. In network coverage is 100 percent versus 50 percent out of network. I checked Google reviews and saw glowing feedback. I should have looked at Yelp to read more detailed reviews. As it turns out, only one dentist in the office was in network, not the one who actually worked on me. That led to a long back and forth with the insurance company and no reimbursement. They require you to pay upfront and then supposedly refund you after insurance pays them. I have never experienced that before. With all my medical doctors, I simply pay a copay and the practice collects directly from the insurance company. In my opinion, Prestige Dentistry operates with high pressure, predatory sales tactics and questionable billing practices. The office looks slick and modern, but the experience felt more like a timeshare hustle than a healthcare practice. They have you sign more forms than at a house closing and even try to sell you an extended warranty on their work. I initially went in for a cleaning, and my periodontist had already sent X rays taken a month earlier. That was not enough. They insisted on doing a 360 degree X ray. That imaging was then used to pitch nearly $9,000 worth of dental work. It took months to resolve the in network issue with Aetna. Now, months later, I am receiving a billing statement for $298 with no explanation or detailed breakdown for work that was supposedly completed and paid for months ago. I sent a letter to the office and to David C. Pielak, President of Golden Dental Associates, P.A., which is their legal name. I never received a response, and the statements continue to arrive. The only positive thing I can say is that the staff was nice and friendly. Thankfully, I am back with my longtime family dentist. His office may not be slick or ultra modern, but he is sincere and honest.

I chose to visit Dr. George Kostakis, DDS since his practice accepted my plan and his general ratings were quite good. Upon my first visit he told me that I needed 4 new fillings, a crown replaced and a wisdom tooth pulled. This was a total shock. My former dentist was always thorough, professional and I was up-to-date on all needed dental work. This news was a warning sign for me that should have heeded me. Was Dr Kostakis overly zealous? Did he need new patients? In retrospect this reminds me of the car shop that "finds" needed(?) repairs on your vehicle. For budget reasons, I agreed to letting him do only 2 fillings and perform the rest later. After the procedures I was told that I needed to pay extra because my insurance plan did not cover everything. So,I did. I wondered about these extra fees so I reached out to my insurance company directly. I was informed that I had paid too much and that a refund from the dentist was necessary. I contacted his office several times asking for this reimbursement. It took awhile for him to respond. In one of his email replies Dr. Kostakis wrote: " the insurance company sets up phony barriers to block you from using the benefits, while the insurance company collects your premium money, I am in the business to keep people healthy, they are there to make profits" and "I am not refunding money that was honestly earned by repairing your teeth. If you think the insurance company will respond, ask THEM for a refund. And tell them they need to explain YOU their policies more completely." So, I contacted my insurance. They responded and reached out to Dr. Kostakis and explained their policies to HIM more completely and urged HIM to refund me the sum. Which he reluctantly did...but only partially!

In fact, in the exact area that Caputo claimed was fine. I Had three dead teeth thanks to the incompetent work of endodontists in South Tampa. They cracked three of my teeth. Those three had to be extracted, and I needed implants, not by Caputo, of course since he can't be trusted, and had just lied to me, but by another dentist. Evidently Caputo did not want to do the work, so he pretended I was fine when that was definitely not the case. I don't know how these guys, who blatantly lie to patients, keep their license. And unfortunately, I referred a family member to the fraud Caputo, he did dental implants for her & now the work is going bad and will need to be redone for a LOT of money.

Gross Incompetence & Deceptive Consultation: I initially went to Dr. Andre Kandy for two upper crowns and one lower bridge. The work was so poorly done that the crowns were too high, then he trim a lot of times but still making it impossible to chew even soft bread or salad or soft fish, only I can eat is soups. Instead of fixing his mistake, Dr. Kandy manipulated me into getting 6 additional crowns (3 upper left, 3 lower left) under the guise of "opening my bite." After installation, the upper and lower teeth DID NOT EVEN TOUCH. This left my remaining natural teeth bearing all the pressure, causing excruciating pain. 2. Scientifically Absurd & Unethical Lies: When I pointed out that my teeth didn't meet, Dr. Kandy gave me a ridiculous, insulting explanation: Your teeth are like a baby's; they will grow longer and eventually touch. An independent specialist later laughed at this claim, confirming it is biologically impossible for a 40-year-old adult. To "fix" the disaster he created, Dr. Kandy then tried to upsell me on doing crowns for all my front teeth as well! 3. Cowardly Leadership & Management: Dr. Arvind Philomin (Owner): I spoke to him several times. He personally promised to fix the issue and have his office schedule me for a redo. Instead, they ghosted me. He refused to take my subsequent calls, hiding behind his assistants who claimed they "passed on the message." Managers Lisa and Shirley: Completely complicit and irresponsible. They are only interested in taking your money, not in patient care or rectifying blatant malpractice. 4. The Resolution: Even after a specialist's report proved that Dr. Kandy's work was non-functional and technically failed, this office refused to refund my money. They are nothing but thieves. I eventually went to a different dentist office (Gordon E. Krurger at 6740 Crosswinds Drive, zipcode33710) who fixed everything. My new dentist successfully restored my bite WITHOUT needing to crown my front teeth as Dr. Kandy had "advised." After 2 weeks of new installation, I can choose everything without any hurting or painful. Summary: I lost nearly $20,000 to these greedy, unethical, and unskilled people. Do not set foot in this office or any other practice owned by Dr. Arvind Philomin. They are dishonest, they will take your money, and they will leave you in pain without taking any responsibility. Stay away from this immoral business! I have attached the specialist's report and photos of the crowns that were cut and removed after being made by this unethical office.

I found Dr.'s Strupp/Brumm through a relative. I finally found an honest assessment and evaluation of all which was needed. The team put together with Strupp/Brumm Cosmetic Dentistry includes referrals to highly competent specialists. One of these specialists discovered a cotton ball under an amalgam filling which was placed fifty years before and the tip of an explorer broken off in the canal of another endodontically treated tooth from eleven years ago (all the dentists between then and now missed these problems). This dental history shows the high-level care I experienced before arriving in this team's hands. Several all-day sessions spread over several months and my full mouth reconstruction is complete. Dr. Brumm and his chairside assistants are unmatched in their diligence, attention to detail, and skill. Behind the scenes were the lab personnel who managed to construct near perfect teeth which are indistinguishable from natural teeth in shape, color, spacing, and bite. They even accommodated for several teeth which were not aligned (straight) giving me the best bite possible. The color matches my complexion, completely unlike many smiles (blindingly white) seen in commercials on television. Both my wife and I who are in our 60's wanted to have better looking (and functioning) teeth. My wife's 4 front teeth had heavy bonding for the last 40 years. Her bite was off from braces acquired 40 years ago; tooth color had also changed. My teeth were functional, but all different colors and sizes and pointing in different directions. We did not know where to go. We had consultations with several well known cosmetic dentists in California and NYC. What was recommended varied widely from braces to veneers to do nothing at all. We checked out the Strupp/Brumm website and the photo gallery was exactly what we were looking for: a beautiful and natural look. So we scheduled consultations for both of us. The Strupp/Brumm consultations were fairly extensive, lasting several hours. It was clear to Dr. Brumm that both of us would benefit from full dental reconstructions. My wife was skeptical. But I jumped in and made the appointments for myself. After the first treatment, my wife joined me. Dina was our coordinator and she did a fabulous job including scheduling, answering our many questions, and dental assisting. She is very professional with great personality. It was a joy to have her working on our case. Drs. Strupp and Brumm are not just great dentists, they are also very personable. The staff are professional and nice, making the long hours of dental work very pleasant. The beautiful spacious office and nearby Clearwater Beach are also pluses. Because of our extensive dental work we were very anxious but the staff and the Drs. make the visits very comfortable. They even served us lunch in the office! Last but not least we would like to mention Jim Free, the in-house ceramist at the office. He is an artist. He crafted our teeth in the in-house lab. He listened to us and worked with us throughout the whole process. At the last fitting, he made alterations on the spot to accommodate our final requests. According to Dr. Strupp, Jim was ranked 2nd in the International Championship Competition of ceramist technicians. To us he is #1. The final product was sets of teeth we could only dream of. The 1st photo is my wife's "before". The second photo is also before, enlargement of the 4 front teeth. 3rd is the final result. 4th and 5th are me, before and after. Final photo is wife's temporary uppers. Even the temporaries looked good and felt comfortable!
